| 27th September 2007 HeatherandPaul | travelling from santiago to cochacamba - From: Travels through Bolivia, from Chile to La Paz. Hi, Sorry for delay! We went from Calama to San pedro de Atacama on the bus and found a tour easily into the salt plains (Salar de Uyuni) and ended up in Uyuni. It was easy to find a tour to do this. Booking it was easy in San Pedro as they spoke english however the guide did not speak english but you will probably be with people on the tour who will speak it so you will be fine! From Uyuni we took a bus to Sucre (via Potosi but not a luxurious trip). Sucre is a nice city, with a good english speaking cafe that does english speaking tours called joy ride cafe. Theres loads of places to stay there. We then took a cheap flight ($US70) to La Paz. I think you can get to Cochabamba from Sucre by bus but it is a long trip. (you can then get from Cochabamba to la paz easily by plane or bus). If you are planning to go to Toro toro I have heard it is advisable to be able to speak Spanish, Good luck with your travels!
