Travel Blog | Hatchy http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Hatchy/ Travel adventures in journals and photos from Hatchy en-us Tue, 22 Dec 2009 13:12:09 +0000 Tue, 22 Dec 2009 13:12:09 +0000 The DPRK red flags turning 23 What can I say about my trip to Kumgangsan It began with me barely making it to meet the bus because of me being stupid and trying to take the subway all the way to Hongdae...i made it with minutes to spare and we were off on our 56 hour drive to the East side of Korea and up through the DMZ to the mountain of Kumgangsan. Crossing into the DMZ was a strange feeling it seemed like we were cro http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/North-Korea/Kumgangsan/blog-73143.html 3 day weekends rock my soccer socks Well I haven't actually added a blog for a loooong time...so I guess I'll cover Buddha's Bday as well as the 3 day weekend and the latest saga at the Hogwan. Maybe I'll forget about the Hogwan saga...don't feel like talking about work at the moment. Anyways...didn't too much for Buddha's Bday. Anna and I went to Insadong and saw a bunch of lanterns and stuff set up for the parade but we had m http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-57929.html St. Patty's Day etc Well we had an exciting St. Patty's Day...not really. We all hung out at the Dublin Bar in Seoullung and had a few drinks. Claire and I left at like 1230 or some insanely early hour like that....but we had a big day planned for Saturday so thats okay. Saturday we spent the whole day in Seoul and hit all the major shopiing places. Claire bought a wig and we got chased by some crazy old lady http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-49379.html Note to self 26.2 miles is a long long long time to run.... Well I survived the bitter winds and the freezing temperatures of Seoul. I also survived 42.something kilometers of running.....something I will think twice about the next time I am presented with the chance to run a marathon. It wasn't so bad the first 16 miles but after that I wanted to end it...haha. seriously though the legs cramped up and I found myself looking for a subway station to m http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-46252.html Another week Well its February in Seoul...and its a lot like January haha. We had a good snow on Tuesday and i promptly fell on my butt walking to school. It was pretty embarassing until the guy behind me fell down too. Saturday I got up at 430 am to get myself to Seoul and run along the Han River with my running group. We ran 11 miles and then went to the U.S base and ran a 5k So a total of 15 miles http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-40713.html What didn't we do today Well let's see. I met up with Anna and Mike today at around noon and we took the bus that we waited for for about 30 minutes I swear to Seoul. They hadn't really seen too much yet so we were going to go to a palace but ended up going straight to Insadong to meet up with Corey and Rebecca. Insadong is a really old street full of shops with Korean souvenirs and teashops and stuff. So anyw http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-38407.html My Hair looks Fab Well today was interesting....I made an appointment a long time ago at Toni Guy to get my hair done today. I always go to the same guy because he speaks English and he does a good job on highlighting and cutting. I had thought that it was strange that they were open on Chinese New Year but whatever. So I show up today and he had opened the salon just for me Oh my gosh...I was embarassed http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-38211.html Some Pictures Here are some pictures from Mom visiting Dec. 23Jan.7 as well as some pictures from our school Christmas party back in December. http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-38079.html Happy New Year Well it is Chinese New Year and its pretty nice at the moment because everyone seems to have hightailed it out of Seoul. I can actually get on a subway without having to push myself into the car...haha. Last night a bunch of my friends and I Karla from Canada Tim from Canada and his friends Jeff and Devon Mike and Anna from England Corey from Canada and his wife Rebecca from New Zealand. http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Seoul/blog-38012.html
