This is a recap of my 3 day run from Kansas City to Cheyenne WY HOG rally with a detour to CO, NM, OK and southern KS. This was one of my ABC’s of Touring rides, where I am accumulating points toward HOG’s ABC’s of Touring challenge. It is my goal to get enough points in 2006 that I earn one of the top ten plaques. Leaving after work on 16 June and then returning home 7K miles later on 2 July concluded my ‘Far West’ vacation. The map attached to the blog is not precise, it give the general idea of my route. This was my 1st long trip for the year 2006. The weekends goal was to ride from Kansas City to Abilene TX, more exact the TX State HOG Rally, with a few side stops for other ABC points. Abilene TX is about 2 hours west of Ft Worth. My HOG group is also doing the “I’ve Been Everywhere tour” which uses the list of all 91 of the towns/states in Johnny Cash’s song. I have been on a very few rides with the Central Midwest HOG group of which I am a member, the ABC ride, Poor Boy dinner ride, one breakfast ride and the Toys for Tots ride. The weekend poker runs and many of the events seem to always fall on weekends that I had other trips planned so I could not attend. I made it a point to get to the Easter Egg ride. Please notice in this the 2005 letter I say I can not win the ABCs of Touring because you couldn't hold a 5 day a week job and have time to win.
