Amazing! Hi Hans-
What an amazing experience you are living. Few could adapt, much less thrive, as you have. A testament to your openness towards ( and acceptance of) others.
Thank-you for continuing to educate us with your great photos and inspiring, insightfull words.
All of us at Gables are doing well. My son has graduated and moved on the the University of Florida. We both (yes he does remember you!) hold dear the kindness and support you always showed us. Keep the blogs comming....
Two blogs in a matter of days! Hi Hans, wow a bit of over-achieving on your part!!! Had to smile to read your blog about meeting someone who could give you an experience that few of us would be privilege to!! Good for you! Great photos yet again! Good luck once again for another successful term. Yes, I hear the wistfulness re the upcoming amalgamation into Taizhou University. I know exactly what you mean! So many good memories for me. Thank you for keeping them alive with your blogs! BTW got an email out of the blue from one of my male students from Nanjing Normal University Taizhou College the other day. I was so surprised- I haven't been in contact with him for 3 or 4 years. He said he thought he hadn't heard from me for a while, so wondered how I was!!! Amazing to me!!! Hugs Sue
Thank you for the newest blog. Lieber Hans,
Hi from Oz! Heh Hans, great to see the blogs are back in action! However, what has happened to Travelblog? Ugghhh! All those horrid ads have wrecked the look of the page. Disappointing. Photos are fabulous though, as usual. Brings back memories of my time in Qinghai a few summers ago, where I also spent some time travelling with our darling Stef!
Good luck with the new teaching term, and give my regards to John. Hugs Sue

Beautiful! Herr Schneider,
It brings me great joy to see that you're doing so well even though you are far, far away from us here in Miami. You are a great raconteur and I thoroughly enjoy reading your stories and browsing through your photos. Take care and I'm sending you lots of love!
Your former student,

Hi Hans Was a guest speaker at the Australian Sister Conference last week in Toowoomba city. Met someone there who had a close relation with taizhou, and when I mentioned you her face lit up and she said she knew you. IM trying to think who it was. Mayor and I are flying to BJ on Saturday night, im in China for 3 weeks on business but not close to Taizhou this time. Hope all is well. Hope to see the two students, Jody and Apple from the competition, and look forward to see Liz in Guilin. Take care. Cheers kevin

Sehr interessante Photos!
The mountain looks serene and divine. It's imaginable, how prosperous in the past the place might be. To wind up the Maijishan worshipping their buddhas, desciples must have no fear of the vertical staircases!
5 years on, you've contributed all of your energie and precious post-retirement time to our hometown. I was overwhelmed when I read you stories in our local paper. Best wishes.
Great Pictures! Hello Hans,
I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your home in FL, especially the garden. It's a big difference from your condo in Boston! I like all the collectibles from Germany as well. How much longer will you be in China??
Julie
After 38 years as a Foreign Language Teacher and Foreign Language Dept. Chair at Coral Gables Sr. H.S., and A.J. Professor of German at the University of Miami, I have left Florida in June of 2006, where my home is in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. I have just signed another year's teaching-contract (my 8th year now) with Taizhou University in the city of Taizhou, located about 3hrs north of Shanghai, in Jiangsu Province, CHINA.
I thought it would be informative for others and rewarding for me personally, to log the progress of my efforts from beginning to end, as a Travel and Photo Jo... full info
