| 25th September 2006 Valentino [Val] Macor | Photography/Geography - From: #57 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Fall Semester Surprise) I am continually amazed at the photos you have on your journals, very descriptive and clear. As I said before, I am learning more about that part of the country's geography and way life of the local people. For instance, in the bottom 27 pictures I only saw 1 car. Certainly not the norm in any US school! |

| 21st September 2006 Vicky | WOW! - From: #56 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (GUILIN: "N.Z. Ultimate Challenge" Winners in Guilin) Very very nice! I see so much is going on! So much for me also--- By the way my summer in Germany was lovely. Our new German teacher - she is really nice, but she tends to think that its like a kindergarden class- and we get smiley faces and other little baby activities as such. I miss you so much. I have put Chinese classes on hold for a moment- its just too much for me right now--- and I have suddenly found how interested I am in the human body and how much I love Anatomy class and maybe that is my path to the future- I am not sure yet. Missing you, Victoire J. |

| 10th September 2006 Dr. K. | Greetings From Your FL Dept. - From: #54 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (TIBET #4- Day 5+6 traveling in Tibet) Hans: I have really been enjoying your travelogs. More importantly, they have been highly instructive. How little we Westerners know about the Chinese. And that ignorance is hurting the entire Western World. Stephanie is really a great lady and a super Chairperson who always works her tail off regardless of what she is doing. She is doing a super job and all of us (including our two new colleagues) are doing very well. Your old friends and colleagues, however, do indeed miss you and all of us are delighted that your Chinese adventure has turned out to be so spectacular. All the best to you, my friend. David Kirsner |

| 8th September 2006 Susan | I want to go to Tibet, too - From: #53 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (TIBET #3- Day 3+4 in Lhasa, Potala-palace, and Sera Monastery) Hans, I'm teaching in Nanjing now. I signed up for your blog before I left Atlanta. Taking the new Tibet train has been one of my goals, too, so I'm really enjoying the blogs about your trip. How' the breathing at that altitude? Did you use the oxygen on the train? Thanks for providing great descriptions and photos. |
| 8th September 2006 Sandra | - From: #53 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (TIBET #3- Day 3+4 in Lhasa, Potala-palace, and Sera Monastery) i am so glad that you have so many former students and colleagues that are interested in reading your blogs, because Americans can often be so apathetic, and your blog is a way for many of us to see how other people live, and to empathize with others and be more compassionate. nobody here in miami ever forgets you... we are alwayssss talking about little moments with you or anything that we remember. even students that graduated 2 years ago whom we are still in contact with... everyone. everytime we walk in the german room someone is sure to say something (good!) about you, or say "holy schinken" or something like that haha. remember that you must attempt to come for our graduation, most of us mention it everyday haha love always. |
| 7th September 2006 Sharon | Your long lost relative! - From: #53 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (TIBET #3- Day 3+4 in Lhasa, Potala-palace, and Sera Monastery) Hi Hans! You are amazing and I am so glad that Garry hooked me up with your blog today! I've lost touch with you, but I often think of what my previous family is doing...you, Resa, Garry and Monika! I am so touched by the all the people that love you so much, especially your students and your impact on their lives. It brought me to tears! I've enjoyed looking at the 53 blog entries over the past hour, and it's so good to see a picture of YOU! Have a wonderful time, as I know you will, and I will keep in touch via email and your blog! You were always such an adventurer and I'm so happy to see you and what's happening in your life!! Love, Sharon Cole Verley (in upstate New York) |
| 7th September 2006 Ashley Santiz | - From: #53 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (TIBET #3- Day 3+4 in Lhasa, Potala-palace, and Sera Monastery) Wow, I think this is one of the best entries so far! It is fascinating (and slightly horrifying) to learn about the sky funeral ritual and to learn about the monks. I rather like the idea of them gathering and debating issues and stomping for effect. It brings the culture into sharp contrast with our own. And the pictures were amazing. |
| 6th September 2006 Sandra Cordova | - From: #53 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (TIBET #3- Day 3+4 in Lhasa, Potala-palace, and Sera Monastery) it's like going back in time! =O |
| 6th September 2006 anonymous | - From: #53 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (TIBET #3- Day 3+4 in Lhasa, Potala-palace, and Sera Monastery) schneider...I wanted you to know that I have picked German back up at Florida State University. I also wanted to thank you for being such an inspirational teacher. Not many teachers at the High School level know there subject, or have the ability as you do to connect with thier student and bring out the best results from each individuals potential. I walk with the lessons and experiences you have provided for me every day of my life. Your courage and ability to make the best of every situation is admirable. Thank you for sparking an interest in a subject that has contributed to my growth at an academic level and as a person. Your Friend, John Moore |
