I've always wanted to see them in real life. are those illuminated by lights or they painted or are they naturally like that? it would be crazy if they are naturally like that. and the mountains look great. they remind me of my parents homeland :) looking forward to the next blog! |
| 9th June 2007 katherine | delightful guilin! - From: #77 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Guilin and a Li River Cruise) The photos really capture the beauty of the place, and certainly puts it on my list of places to see. Thanks for giving us this look at another fascinating place in China. |
| 4th June 2007 Veronica | - From: #76 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The Jin Mao Tower graces the sky-line of Shanghai) hey Schneider, thanks for the congratulations and your best wishes for us! I really appreciate it, especially from you. We missed you at graduation, it would have been sooooo much better with you there. It seems like your enjoying your visit to Shanghai; the architecture is amazing! If only there were buildings like that in Miami. Take care!! |
| 4th June 2007 Ashley | - From: #76 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The Jin Mao Tower graces the sky-line of Shanghai) Wow. Those pictures remind me of Tomorrowland in Disney world! Its practically unreal. Anwyays i missed ya tons at graduation. Wish you could have been there but you were there in our minds and in spirit. |
| 3rd June 2007 Sandra | - From: #76 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The Jin Mao Tower graces the sky-line of Shanghai) schneider, these pictures are INCREDIBLE!! this architecture is unreal... you're so lucky to be experiencing it. love you and miss you (as always) |
| 2nd June 2007 Andrew Smith | - From: #74 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Suzhou and how to buy a home in the "Venice of the East") I learnd more about China than any other sources (PBS? ABC?). My always thought China was a big labor camp where babies were abondoned everywhere and people lived in frear. These people are actually not that different from us (i.e, a dream house, good jobs) I think you should do a special report for a major network. - Drew |
| 2nd June 2007 Margie | - From: #76 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The Jin Mao Tower graces the sky-line of Shanghai) Schneider I missed you so much at graduation! I was looking around for teachers I recognized and teachers I would miss and I kept thinking about you! I miss you so much. On a different note I love all of these new pictures. It makes me want to go and visit. |
| 2nd June 2007 Celia | :) - From: #76 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The Jin Mao Tower graces the sky-line of Shanghai) stunning pictures and buildings... works of art and architecture. it is amazing to see what humans can create sometimes. it has felt much longer than one year for us since you've been gone. graduation was incredible and hopefully what's to come is even more incredible. love you, schneider :) |
| 1st June 2007 Josue | Orange Sesame Chicks!!! - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) The most poignant picture is the one that looks like breaded chicks in Panda-express orange sauce. I'm a big food fan, but my kind of food festival involves lots of goetta and brats. By the way, greetings from Cincinnati herr Schneider!!! -- Josh :) |
| 1st June 2007 Thomas Scianmarello | China - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) Wow Schineider how can you live over there with that type of food? lol |
| 1st June 2007 Sandra | - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) schneidyyyy... i just wanted to tell you that as of yesterday i am a coral gables senior high school graduate! it is exciting but at the same time i am extremely sad about it, especially this morning when it is starting to hit me. i wish you could have been there to share it with us... hopefully we will still be seeing each other around some time. in any case, i hope we can see each other here in FLORIDA, considering that if i rely on the food in china, i can pretty much count on dying of hunger hhahaa... as always you are quick to point out the lack of compassion in our human race, and that is what i never forget about you. love always |
| 31st May 2007 Sandra Cordoba | - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) Okay, so I lost my appetite...I'm glad to see how well you have adjusted! Have you tried any of those?? I would starve....I can't even look at those dishes, let alone eat them! |
| 29th May 2007 Clarissa Borge | FOOOOD!! - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) hey schneider! looks like you're doing well! no wonder you've lost so much weight since you left. I would've lost some of my weight if I lived in china. The duck feet I would be willing to try, I've actually heard they are good it's the bugs and the (ugh) tarantula that are wigging me out quite a bit. well, hoping for a another entry soon!! love you lots! and Hurray for graduation! |
| 29th May 2007 Ashley Santiz | - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) Hey mr schneider! Um, first all i can say is poor little chicks!!! Eaten whole?!? Little babies born just to be fried up? **sobs quietly** And im not horrified by the tarantulas (well okay, i AM a tad horrified) but i am grossed out by what i think i saw sitting next to them....ROACHES. eeewwwwwww... I am *such* an american. Lol. Well it looks like you're learning (and being grossed out) more and more each day. These entries are so informative and interesting (especially with the pictures) you might even want to consider turning them into a book. Memoirs of a Traveling Teacher or what have you. Just an idea. :) Keep living the dream! (and thanks for the comment about graduation i am sooo nervous [i just KNOW im going to fall]) toodles ash |
| 28th May 2007 Celia | Schneidypooooo - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) hallo schneider... i really enjoyed this entry.. it was interesting to see similarities between the chinese culture and ours such as this: "Whenever I ask my students, where they are going as we pass each other, the two prominent responses are: 'We're going shopping' or 'We're going eating.'" who would've thought? thanks for the kind words about graduation.. i wish you could've been there. we're all really excited, anxious, and even a bit nervous. we miss you so much, schneider. :) |
| 28th May 2007 Brittney Hinckley | - From: #75 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Exotic foods of China) I think I would starve if I moved to China, I'm not sure I could eat any of that. |

| 2nd April 2007 Celia | beautiful - From: # M Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The "Leaning Tower of Suzhou") i love how the east and west have so many similarities though seemingly being worlds apart. these are some of my favorite pictures.. those tulips are beautiful and that city seems magical. we miss you! |
| 1st April 2007 Ashley Santiz | - From: # M Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The "Leaning Tower of Suzhou") Oh my god I am sooo jealous! That city is beautiful. And those tulips are gorgeous, they're my favorite flower. Well, it appears you are learning every single day that you are over there in China, and you are also getting thinner every single day, too! I hope one day i get to see the "leaning tower of suzhou", its really beautiful. Oh, and I thought that it was really interesting that He Lu was guarded by a white tiger after death seeing as the white tiger symbolizes the after life. |
| 1st April 2007 Thomas Scianmarello | China - From: # M Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The "Leaning Tower of Suzhou") That tower is, in my opinion, more beautiful than the leaning tower of Pisa. |

Please come and visit us! Manny, Connor and I have missed you terribly and we want to take you out to dinner one of the nights that you are here. |
| 30th January 2007 Andrea Trabucco Campos | - From: #68 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China ( MIAMI / MIAMI-BEACH: Spring-Vacation in Florida) After desperately trying to contact you, Herr Schneider, it's with great pleasure that I read your last post! I apologize if the memories of me still probably taunt you, but we all go through phases and we are in a constant change, a constant evolution. A lot of things have gone on in my life, and the young boy you met now has transformed, maybe in a process of maturation. I find myself with a full scholarship to Miami Dade Honors College, and have kept all my grades to the top (straight As). I know it's not much, but it's still a strong start, given the real perspectives (keeping up this grades will allow me to go up north: Yale, Columbia, Harvard..etc). Since the moment I silently started following your posts I fell more and more in love with those beautiful landscapes and by now I have conviced myself that after my BA I will go to study in China. To get a step ahead I'd like to go there this summer, and I've been desperately trying to contact you because of your connections as a sociable professor that I once met, and trust you'll always be. If you could help me, it'd be a remarkable thing. If you cannot then everything is fine and I wish you the best of the best in your life, although I perceive you are way ahead than most. Anyway I appreciate you time, Auf Wiedersehen Herr und Viel Glueck! |
| 25th January 2007 Andrea Trabucco Campos | - From: #67 Teaching at Taizhou College, China (Beijing - The Marco Polo Bridge) I've been following the journal quite silently for a while now, and my silence is a proof of my astonishment to see and read Schneider's journeys.. in any case, can anybody provide me with Schneider's email? thx a lot fellows, hope you're all having an amazing time, as well as you Herr Schneider. |
