Ghouuuuulish! - From: #48 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (The "Greatest" Wall)
"The sweat, blood, and rotting corpses of uncountable construction-crew-victims, and those butchered in the many gory battles for the trophy, that is China, must be the 'fertilizer' for the Wall's surrounding vegetation." Wow, Hans! Just imagine the wall at night; deserted and foreboding with a full moon casting many shadows that almost illuminate the phatoms, spirts, specters, wraiths, and shades of those countless unfortunates. Hear the rustling of these spirits and the disembodied voices rising from the greenery...."Help me, heellp me, heeeelllllppppp me." Then have a Coke, er, Pepsi. ;>)

Good for you! - From: #46 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China ( First visit to Beijing)
Hans, I found out from Leo, Steph and Checho about your China adventure, and I'm so glad for you! We spent a month in China twenty years ago- I know that everything has changed much since then. I loved your blog and your pictures, and I'm happy you are enjoying retirement. Paul and I are still happily retired- poor, but free. : ) We volunteer at Fairchild Garden twice a week with 3rd and 4th graders, are still active in environmental organizations, take guitar lessons, and are still kayaking, biking and snorkeling. Life is good! We also rent out rooms to U.M. graduate students at my mother's house, which I inherited. We have met some wonderful and interesting young people, among them a couple of Chinese guys. One of them Jiahua Han, (Jim), became a very close friend. We learned a lot from him about his country and his people. My e-mail is: wekayak@bellsouth.net- I'd love to hear from you! Hugs! Coky

dear hans,we just got back from our trip to the mountains in south carolina. after reading about your advantures, I'm not so sure how interesting our two week stay in a 7 bedroom family cabin would sound. I do know howerver that compared to what your doing my life seems extremely uneventful. I sometimes think of school, but most of the time I'm glad I'm not there. Keep sending me your thoughts and experiences adout china it's totally captivating.

hey schneider!!!! how about trying those chicken feet??? lol they might not be as bad as you think, its just the whole "getting over the fact that your eating chicken feet" thing....i think its amazing how resourceful they are with the food they eat; since especially here in america so much food is wasted. maybe one day you'll get the guts to try those chicken feet...take my advice, they're not as bad as you think ;-) PS: try the darker looking ones hehehehe
