We thought it would be fitting if we spent our last weekend in Asia doing something relaxing so we scheduled a resort trip to Bintan Indonesia. To cut down on costs we spent Friday night in Singapore and then woke up at 6 AM to catch an 8 AM ferry to Bintan. It was SO nice to not have to fly. The ferry ride was a little under an hour and then we were in paradiseWe stayed at Nirwana Resort Hot

The AmCham interns went on a tour of the United States Embassy last Tuesday. Pretty cool. The building is imposing and a little frightening on the outside. The inside just looks like an office building. We got a short briefing from several employees and I learned a lot about the foreign servicean interesting career but a little too much jumping from place to place for me.
Lack of sleep in Cambodia made for a boring start to the week. I spent Monday and Tuesday evening lounging around the apartment. On Wednesday Kirsten and I ventured to Chinatown for dinner. The whole place smelled like durian. Lots of cheap shopping there though Wednesday night brought more fun when I was invited to a private party at a VIP lounge in Singapore to celebrate the graduation o

Cambodia may be one of the coolest places I have ever been.We arrived in Siem Reap Cambodia in the early evening on Friday. As we drove through the second largest city in Cambodia on a tuktuk I realized that it wasnt much of a city at all. Siem Reap has a small town feel. Cars are few and far betweenthe streets are scattered with motorbikes and tuktuks. Palm trees flooded rice fields a

Its likely that Ill become a frequent visitor there. So far Ive had a chocolate croissant and some weird chewy Japanese cookie things.
