Crazy Story #2: I met Garth and his Girldfriend again in Pictons beautiful Supermarket. We want to met us again after the Trek for a couple of Beers. I start at Friday on a lovely Day with a lot of Sun and great Views over the Marlborough Sound. The Path was a little bit muddy but no problem. The first Night i slept on a Campsite in my Tent. The next Morning start with big Problems with my Contact Lenses. I forgot the sucker in my van. Fuck and now. Trust me it's a big problem to put out your lenses without this shit sucker. After that it starts to raining and the weather looks very shit (Wheater Forecast Sun, 20 Degress, haha). After a 4 Hours walk i called the Water Taxi and went back ... read more

Oceania » New Zealand » South Island » Kaikoura September 5th 2010

Kaikoura is the Whale Watching Town from NZ, unfortunately the Tours are too expensive. The first Night i slept on a nice Rest Area near the Town. The Beach was full of wood - Campfire Time. On the next Day i had my first Breakfast only in my T-Shirt without Jacket etc... Blue Sky and 20 Degress - YES it's getting Spring in NZ. The whole Day was awesome. I walked around the Peninsula of Kaikoura, Seals everywhere and crystal clear water. The second Night i slept in a small Campsite directly on the Ocean. On the 3th Day i walked a Bush Walk near the Town and leave the Town for my Roundtrip to the Arthurs Pass and back to Picton to do the Trek on Friday. ... read more

After the National Park i went to the next Trek near Picton. Picton is the Main Harbour for the Ferrys to the North Island and is located in the beautiful Malborough Sound. Here i slept one Night on a DOC Campsite who was for the same Night Partylocation for a 18th Birthday of two Girls. There i met Rowen. The only Guy who were nearly in my Age. He was paddling with his Kajak through the Sound and has a Camper Van, too. We talking about to do the Queen Charlett Trek together. On the next Day i went to the Tourist Information to have a look to the Wheater Forecast. Bad Wheater the hole Week. OK, let's go to Kaikoura - Forecast 20 Degress. ... read more

Arrived in the National Park i walked to the first Hut. 1,5km before the hut i met Garth from the North Island and his Girlfriend. The Hut was located near a Bay with a big difference between Low and High Tide and we had to cross the Bay without Boots and Socks. In the Hut we had Dinner and we talked about this and that. Great Star Heaven, funny Chats and a Sport Cigarette. I love it. On the next Morning we leave the hut very early, because we had to cross another Bay on Low Tide. The Trek was amazing. Most of the Time you are walking along the Coast, along Beaches or beautiful Bays. Was very impressive. The last Day we walked together to another Hut where Garth & Co slept one more Night ... read more

On the next Day i'm driven to the Pinnacles/Pancakes Rocks in Punakaiki. Unfortunately the Wheater was very bad. That's the Reason i skipped Westport and went directly to Motueka (Abel Tasman National Park ). There i slept on a campsite near the Big Hole. That's NZ deepest Cave Hole (164m deep). The following Day i booked my Huts in the National Park and prepare my stuff for the Tramp. The Day after i took a Water Taxi, which drop me off in the Nationalpark. ... read more

Arrived in Hokitika i walked around and visit the Jade Shops and eat my first Time in NZ Fish and Chips. After that i'm driven around and visit the big Gorge. The Night i slept near an old Goldmine Village. On this Campsite i met Pit. He was Gold-Digger and is searching for Gold in this Area. The only Money he earns is the Value of the Gold which he dectects. A crazy Guy. He said one Time in 2014 i have to leave Europe, because a Meteorit is splashing into the Atlantic Ocean and the following Big Wave would flooding Germany. Aha. I think he smokes to much Pott :-) On the next Day i'm heading to Westport.... read more

After nearly one Week Queenstown (with Breaks) i was back on the Road to the Glaciers Fox and Franz Josef. Back to Camping in DOC Campsites (basic Campsite without shower and with Honestybox - normally you have to pay 6 Bucks, but when your Name is "Hammer" it's for free :-)) and eating Noodles with Tomato Sauce. I visit o lot of nice Places during the Drive to the Glaciers. Normally you can drive in 1 Day to the Glaciers, but i'm not in a Rush. I'm driven in 2-3 Days to there. It's very impressiv how huge are this Glaciers. It's a lot of Ice. I'm thinking about to do a Glacier Trek, unfortunately the wheater was very bad. Rain the hole Day. After the Glacier i'm heading more North to Hokitika... read more
