So we flew from Melbourne with heavy hearts, both very sad to be leaving Australia behind, but at the same time very excited to see what New Zealand had in store for us!! The first thing to hit us on arrival was the cold! The place was flippin freezing! And the rain, it was that really miserable gray rain that you just knew was down for hours! First impressions mean a lot and ours were not good!! The following day the sun had come out (but it was still freezing...we thought it was supposed to be summer??) and we boarded the Tranzalpine train to Greymouth, one of the worlds most reknowned beautiful train journeys! And it was really breathtaking; we were already starting to see the beauty people spoke about when they spoke of NZ. Greymouth ... read more

The final leg of our time in Oz saw us visiting Kangaroo Island, Adeliade, the Great Ocean road and Melbourne...what a way to wrap it up! On KI we stayed on a farm and did a guided tour of the island, which consisted of seeing lots if wildlife (kangaroos, wallsbys, two different types of seals, echindas, and FINALLY a snake!! Oh and the cutest penguins ever! ). We also did sand surfing on huge sandunes and were the only pair who managed to stay on the 'sandboard' the whole way down! Woo, go team! Back on the mainland, and it was time to pick up our Spaceship, which was to be our home for the next few days! We loved camping, but in true Dave and Sarah style ended up staying in 4* campsites! Bet u ... read more

Flies. So with Sydney finished we were off to be Backpackers again, well flashpackers really. We had no problems with our flights and ended up in Darwin the following day. Flies. The HEAT!! It was nothing like we've felt before, getting up to over 40 degrees, like we have had some really hot days in Sydney, but the humidity was a killer! Darwin is tiny , with very little to do, which was good, flies, because we had to be up half five the fillowing day for our 2 days, 1 night camp out in Kakadu National Park.. We had a boring crew with us for tgis part if the trip, and the tour guide was a bit of a tool, so there wasn't much laughs on the bus, but we made our own fun. We ... read more

Well well, look what we have here….if it isn’t the last blog of Sydney!!! We’ve not got a huge amount of news to report except that basically the whole Sydney part of our adventure is coming to an end! We’ve been partying a lot, and saying goodbye to a hell of a lot of people over the past few weeks, most notably Marc and Merel, and Hazel and Damo! For Hazel and Damo’s last weekend we really wanted to have a good knees-up, and we definitely succeeded there. It was one of our mates, Helena’s Birthdays that weekend too, and some of the girls had organized a surprise party for her on a party bus that takes everyone to five different pubs in the city, and where we get a free drink in each pub! It ... read more

Well, well, well, how better to begin this blog than with a belated Happy Christmas and New Year to you all. It’s the 15th of January and we’re only slowing down on the drinking now! It’s been a crazy few weeks. In December we got our new roommates, Hazel and Damo, friends of ours from home. They’ll be staying with us over Christmas till they head to Melbourne on the rest of their travels! Suppose it all kicked off with the” 12 Pubs of Christmas”. The idea of which is that you start in your first pub at 6 o clock in the evening and each half hour you leave to the next pub, until 6 hours and 12 pubs later you’re in a heap somewhere in Sydney! It was a great night , Dave organized ... read more

This is more a short story than a blog...... so, I had lost my camera. No clue where, i had written it off and was starting to look into gettin a new one.But before i could do that, our 6 year Anniversary was comin up, so we just took sarahs camera for that night.Great night out on a Show boat. But it was on the way home that the story really started, In the backseat of the taxi , we found a purse.Rather than leavin it to the Taxi man , we decided to take it upon ourselves to find out who owned it, and get it back to them. After a bit of rooting around, we found the girls mobile number, called here, and arranged for here to collect it from our hotel! Then the next morning the girl ... read more

Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of stories to tell you all since we last left off! We've been having a ball though, basically just been working and drinking away, and chillin on the beach on the sunny days! We have had some really fun parties, and nights out though! Plenty of BBQs in our house and sure ya cant have a BBQ without a tipple or two! There have been fancy dress parties, nights out on the town and even Sarah’s surprise (Pirate Themed) Birthday Party, expertly organized by Dave….she didn’t have a bloody clue, already slightly tipsy she nearly fell out of her standing when all of a sudden 20-odd people were shouting and singing Happy Birthday to her when she walked in the front door!!!! On the work front, every day is a ... read more

Well we arrived in Sydney mid-August a.k.a mid-winter and my god is Sydney cold in winter or what!! We landed in the airport only to be left in the terminal for an hour because the whole of the baggage area had shut down because the storm outside was so bad!! The look on Sarahs face said it all...people really weren't lying when they said Sydney gets cold in winter !! Anyway we headed off to our hostel which was really centrally located and straight away hit the shops ...for boots, jackets and socks!! All things that hadn't been in great demand along the coast!! Once we were wrapped up the apartment hunt began! We had long-since decided that we wanted to live in Bondi, for a number if reasons ; firstly there are tonnes of backpackers ... read more

So as we said, we were very excited about our next stop and we hit the road early in the morning from Byron to go straight to Warner Brothers theme park on the Gold Coast- Movie World!! And what a day we had- it didn't start out brilliant with McDonalds refusing to serve us regular food until 10.30 am....it was 10.30 by Dave's watch but that didn't matter to them!!! But luckily we got fed in the end and hit the theme park in record time! The sun was splitting the stones and we had a brilliant day, mainly because it's still technically winter over here so the park was relatively empty and we didn't have to queue for longer then 10 mins for any ride...and even a 10 min queue only happened once! Every ride ... read more

So we arrived at Noosa and checked into the YHA, which was located really close to the beach and all the designer shops- fun times window shopping!! Noosa was a really nice place, but there wasn't a whole lot to do there and eating or drinking out was really expensive, so we just had a few days of chilling on the beach!! We then moved to a different hostel over the other side of town, and spent another few nights there- again, not a whole lot to do, and the weather had taken a turn for the worse, so we had a few drinks and a bit of Trivia (where we came first...again!!) and that was about it!! We then moved onto Mooloolaba where we planned to stay for two nights as it was only 20 ... read more
