Dear reader When I went to Vietnam a few years ago, I took along the Lonely Planet Guide. As a consequence, my whole experience was shaped by what was in the Guide. If it wasn't in the Guide, I didn't see it. I love the Lonely Planet Guides, have met Tom and Maureen Wheeler, the founders of Lonely Planet (at a travel writing seminar at the Writers' Centre in Melbourne, VIC, Australia), and am a great admirer of their achievements.
