I had wanted to visit Turkey and finding out that they were hosting a Formula One event was a good excuse to plan my trip accordingly as I've always wanted to go to an F1 race. I was not disappointed! I had booked my flights and paid a princely sum to secure myself a Super Gold Priority seat in the premier seating of the main grandstand way way back in January, so it was quite a build up and i wasnt going to miss a second of it. My seat was directly opposite one of the big screens and the pits [View Full Entry]

On Wednesday morning with a little help from Jim i was able to track down a replacement MP3 player and headphones and nick out and buy them while they stayed to finish some last minute work (!). ill get insurance for the player so in the end itll only be a $250 loss. Jim and Wayne were sweating with all sorts of packing and weight related blowouts but we headed out early and comfortably got through Heathrow to gate 28 with time to spare. i thought i heard someone in the queue get told they were at the wrong gate so [View Full Entry]

I said goodbye to the regulars at the Tent and headed into the city before getting stuck in the WORST queue ever at the train station (i seem to have a knack for finding the slowest ones!) and almost missing the train i was planning on catching to Berlin. i got stuck with a smoking cabin seat (yuck!) but it was a pretty uneventful journey. it was still really cool just to listen to music and watch the scenery go by because it is all so new. One funny thing i noticed was these bach complexes (if you could call them [View Full Entry]

A late but worthy entry nonetheless. I didnt haul my discs halfway across the globe not to use them so i was determined to get a round in somewhere. I foolishly didnt think about it in Munich but made sure i got my A into G in Berlin. It was an early 8am Sunday morning round at the beautiful Falkspark Rehburg in Wedding, North Berlin, it was lightly raining which as always made for testing conditions. The park is huge and my friendly discgolf local Stephen Defty (ex USA) informed me that they have about 8 regularly played and marked courses [View Full Entry]

Roughing it in Munich Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
I got up early early to catch my 6am train to Munich, the italian name for it is Monaco just to keep you on your toes early in the morning. i had a ciccilian family in my carriage today and they were very friendly and invited me to stay with them if i make it down that way. The scenery through the mountains from italy to Germany is stunning, some of the bridges and roads they have constructed are quite amazing, just hanging off cliff edges etc. Now prior to leaving Nice i had checked for accomodation and there were plenty [View Full Entry]

Going into the city in Milan was a very errie experience, there was a huge train station with almost no one in it. i thought the previous night maybe it was just because it was so late, but it was the same for every trip any time. Maybe the locals just use cars now or the population concentration has changed but it was just wierd. The city centre of Milan is like no other, very beautiful in its own way but i didnt really like it. its just stone, concrete and tinted glass, it felt like a ghost town to me [View Full Entry]

Upon arriving in Nice and finding my "hotel" I realised i was staying the local ghetto which was pretty cool, but even there my "hotel" room shared with 3 others was 20 euro a night, with no common room or kitchen, the only thing it had going for it was the tiny balcony my room had that overlooked the street and a carpark behind a church (which btw was a miniature replica of the Notre Dame) I found out there was a jazz festival on up at a natural ampitheatre so wandered my way up there though the narrow twisty streets, [View Full Entry]

So my first day in Paris was really spent sleeping in and recovering from my big London weekend. That said i did get up and go for a walk around my area Kellermann in Southern Paris. I soon discovered that it was not really a tourist destination. Everyone staying at my hostel was french as were the staff and i had my first experience of ill communication. I wandered into a nearby park and when asking two local boys whether i could drink the water they were really quite surprised and intrigued to meet someone who spoke english! I should also [View Full Entry]

So its been a long time since i wrote anything here, time flys when you're having fun! There is just always something to do, and always someone to party with :) So London, it was a good week, it seems like such a long time ago now i'll have to see what i can remember! After arriving a little tipsy Jim took me back to his place and we watched the soccer, i crashed pretty hard and Jim was quite surprised the next day when i said i just wanted to chill at the flat for the day, but i'm probably [View Full Entry]

The long flight to Dubai was not much fun, i had had enough halfway at our 1hr stop over in Singapore, mental note for next time to stop there for a few days too just to break it up a bit more. Couldn't sleep on the plane but my Nintendo got a good workout. We got in at about 5am local time and it was already 30 degrees! Welcome to hell - Rami Rami kindly collected us from the airport and we went straight to the Hilton Dubai for a huge buffet breakfast, this was our first experience of living it [View Full Entry]
