Seeing Seville Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Seville
Seville is quite similar to Granada but a lot flatter, still a maze of little pathway streets in the city centre. So again we get lost trying to find our hostel, even with a map, after dropping our stuff off at the hostel we went to a recommended place for Tapas where we had to queue for 30mins just to get a table! We relaxed there for the afternoon and wandered around, I spent the early evening writing my diary on the rooftop before I convinced Kim to cook me some eggs woman! :D We just chilled out at the hostel [View Full Entry]

Totally Tapa in Granada Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Granada
One of the scariest things ever happened to me on my flight in - I woke up from the jolt of the plane landing after I had dozed on my flight. I would have hit the roof if I didn't have my seatbelt on, the guy beside me thought it was hilarious, me not so much. I met a canadian Mark on the bus into the city and we proceeded to help each other get utterly lost looking for our hostels. The old part of Granada is very cool, tiny little "streets" in a complete mess and maze, even having a [View Full Entry]

Arriving at the airport in Barcelona was when I first realised how jaded i was becoming to travel, just another airport, just another train to the city, just another metro to my hostel, none of it phased me at all. I should have been excited to be in another city, but it was just another city. Nonetheless when I arrived at the hostel I was quite impressed, wasn't much to look at on the outside but was quite cosy inside, more like an apartment than a hostel with a lounge and kitchen like you'd find at home. The best part about [View Full Entry]

All roads lead to Roma Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
The train ride to Rome was quiet, I chatted to an australian girl who had lived in and loved Italy for 3 years who recommended a few things for me to see in Rome and an American Fisherman on a 2 week bender through Europe. I was reminded once again why i liked train journeys, the scenery is quite mezmerising, it's very easy to watch it slide by while listening to music. Its quite late when I finally arrive and I'm glad to see the american girls I'm staying with who after giving me the worst directions ever come to meet [View Full Entry]

Very small Venice Europe » Italy » Veneto » Venice
The ferry for Corfu to Venice runs for 25hrs so I had some serious time to kill, most of this was spent chatting to Brazilian Matt and catching up on much needed sleep. I also had a surprisingly good meal on board too that didnt cost the earth and when we went to watch the evening movie met a pair of Canadian girls. The movie turned out to be some Italian-costumed-erotic-musical-dreamscape type deal which didnt appeal much so we ended up playing cards instead. I woke up early on the ferry the next morning and was lucky enough to watch the [View Full Entry]

In a nutshell; PARTY! Well actually there's more than that and it started on a little night bus that left from the heart of Athens overland and ferry to Corfu. I cant sleep on buses and especially not this one so entertained myself talking to canadian Sarah and Chris, playing Nintendo and watching Seinfeld. We rolled in to the Pink Palace at 5am to be greeted with welcome Ouzo shots, this set the tone for the week; no sleep and lots of drinking :D The Pink Palace is almost like a resort and includes meals with optional activites happening each day. Time out - Athens Europe » Greece » Attica » Athens
Upon arriving in Athens Kostas came and picked me up from the city, he lives in a suburb called Kareas on the edge of the city beside a forest on the mountain side. Athens city is in a huge valley between two mountain ranges, we headed up the mountain to a perfect view over the whole city to watch the sunrise over Acropolis, it was quite spectacular and something I will not forget anytime soon. Because of the winds the previous night the sky was perfectly clear and I would find out later that I missed a rare photo op since [View Full Entry]

Limnos Kostas was off first thing on a mission to find the perfect golden beach he had hazy memories of from when he last visited the island but I got his number so we could meet up later. Fran and I went for an early breakfast to discuss just how little we both actually knew about this island and what we should be seeing/doing here at all! First thing was to find out when the ferries were and where they went, since it was off season now some ferries only run once a week to some islands which can make planning [View Full Entry]

So arrival in Alexandropoulis was abrupt, me and Rach stopped at one of the many 24hr cake shops (yes wierd for a town with a pop of ~70k) managed to find a cheap hotel that would give us a half rate for the day if we were out by 3pm and caught a few extra hours sleep. We left at about 12 and i managed to catch the end of the Greece vs USA basketball game, Greece won and within seconds the streets were filled with people with flags, drums and anything that could make noise, was quite unexpected and very [View Full Entry]

So leaving Finland was easy, but i had a day to kill in Heathrow waiting for my evening flight to Istanbul, just like in The Terminal, but probably a lot more boring. I spent the day eating, listening to music, watching Seinfeld and trying to chat up the information girls. When it finally got close to flight time i thought i'd do the smart thing and get in through customs early, but the rumors are true. i took a video walking from the customs entrance, out into the next building, and then out into the car parking building corridor, where sure [View Full Entry]
