We all got up at various times on boxing day as we all had different flights, Craig was away first 3hrs ahead of Jamie and Richard who were 4hrs ahead of me. In the end Craig got lost for 3hrs so arrived at the hostel after Jim and Rich, and when i arrived late that night I found I had some catching up to do at the hostel bar! But even the alcohol and ear plugs could not save me from the thundering roar of Rich's snore and not much sleep was to be had, what had i signed myself up [View Full Entry]

Christmas morning started with a wake'n'bake crumpet champagne breakfast followed by lots of lazing around before Cosi Claus started handing out the presents. Everyone came away with something worthwhile and we started eating the decorations, the festivites had begun. Early afternoon after a few drinks and delicious mini churizos we decided it was time to get our moneys worth out of the overfilled shopping trolley we (and by we I mean Jim and I) had stuffed in preparation at Waitrose the previous day. Roast ham, roast chicken, roast potatoes, peas and carrots, broccili and cauliflower with [View Full Entry]

A Festivus for the Rest of us! Bagels; NO, Festivus; YES! For those of you not familiar with the non-denominational Festivus holiday made famous through Seinfeld I suggest you do some reading up at; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus Since Richard arrived in London on December 23rd it seemed fitting that we would celebrate his arrival in true Festivus spirit. After meeting him at the airport we whisked him off to a reunion Festivus feast at Wagamama's care of Craigs generousity. After dinner we sat down to air our grievances with each other, and this went surprisingly well then t [View Full Entry]

and all through comfortable house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse! Well i certainly wasnt stirring, the job hunt was getting worse closer to christmas (despite some promising leads) and no money = no fun! As Facilities Manager of Comfortable House I have some significant responsibilities, and one that I was really getting into was regularly cooking decent meals again. The other was organising our christmas tree which you can see in all its glory, and putting together a rough schedule for xmas, but before then I went to: Claires birthday; Eargasm @ Fabric An awesome nigh [View Full Entry]

My 3rd weekend on the trot out of London, and I was supposed to be staying there now. But this event was pre planned a long time ago. Beth and I caught a coach to Cardiff on Thursday evening and were staying with our gracious host from home Laurence. We started our first rally day nice and early only to hit our first road block - the hire car place we had booked with wouldn't let us take a car without proof of address. Despite pleading and explaining we were from NZ they wouldn't have a bar of it so we [View Full Entry]

Who could say no to the offer of a free weekend in Iceland when you're skint? While I was still without work I was watching every penny very closely, but Howard had an offer I couldn't refuse. A weekend in Iceland, all booked and paid for with a friend that couldn't make it, all I was up for was a name change fee and food when I got there! It was a Friday flight and a perfect day when I flew in and I was able to see across the whole island, snow everywhere as they had recently had a dump. [View Full Entry]

To sum up; Coach. Drinking. Rugby. Sleep. Coach. Paris. Delay. Coach. Drinking. Sleep. A red eye early start on Saturday morning saw me and Craig start the day with a 6am run to make the bus on time. There we met Hannah, Grant, Benny, Katie, Michelle, Kate, Matt, Nick, Beth and some of her other friends all in for a big weekend. It was a quiet start with one breakfast Strongbro to tide us over to Dover where we jumped on the ferry across to France. We had a hearty breakfast on the boat in preparation for a hefty drinking session [View Full Entry]

So i was back in London, this a summary of the things I've been getting up to. (Aside from looking for work!) Craig arrived in London from NZ on the same day I returned so the funboy 3 were reunited over the first rounds of what was to become our London drink of choice; Strongbro ciders. I was staying back with Beth, Helen and Brad in Shepherds Bush and now planning on setting up my new life in London. My first week was pretty laid back, Randi was stopping over so we met up again and I took the opportunity to [View Full Entry]

I was staying in a hostel right in the centre of town and it turned out to be fantastic, though almost impossible to find as it was through an unmarked door. It had a lounge area for reading with a stereo, another lounge with TV, an internet room and a dining room and kitchen. The beds were king singles with down duvets and oh so comfortable. I met up with Randi and Matt again for dinner and were treated to some german tourists inside the restaurant choir singing which added to the ambiance. We went back to their pension and chatted [View Full Entry]

Chasing summer in Lagos Europe » Portugal » Algarve » Lagos
In a last ditch effort to get some sun without going to another continent further south I had caught a bus to Lagos in to stay at the Rising Cock hostel. It turned out to be almost exclusively filled with australians, even had a flag on the wall, it was run by a Portugese lady who we all called "Momma" and her two sons. Had a great sleep and consequently woke up really early and learned that this hostel does not do early starts, but breakfast is included so i was happy to wait. I went for a walk around the [View Full Entry]
