What can I say, I had such a good time last time when Pete suggested we go back how could I refuse? London hasnt been very generous in providing good weather so it was a good opportunity to escape for some sun. Me and Pete had a ridiculously early Friday morning flight but maximised our party time by having breakfast champagne. Immediately upon arrival we started our general daily ritual; Sunning on the Beach, followed by a Nap, followed by Dinner, followed by drinking, then dancing late into the night. Repeat. On our first day at the beach we met [View Full Entry]

So I planned a long weekend away to Amsterdam to see the city side of the Netherlands. I had a flight straight after work on Thursday night, as usual I just snuck in to check in with 5mins to spare (plenty of time!) but then had to wait an hour while my flight was delayed. I was watching the board to see which gate to go to when my flight disappeared completely, I asked at the desk and the girl told me there was a problem with the system and that the gate was about to close and that i should [View Full Entry]

Finally the weekend had arrived where my family had travelled to Europe for a holiday and I had the privlidge of buying myself a ticket to Rotterdam to meet them so we could visit some of our distant dutch relatives. It was quite strange after travelling alone for so long to be met at an airport, and even stranger to be met by my family! Was great to see them all again, and for my first night we stayed with Arthur and Karline. The next morning we were up for the Rotterdam International Discgolf Tournament. Despite a small turnout of only [View Full Entry]

Easter weekend and the boys planned a road trip of Epic proportions; London to Edinburgh and back in a hire car, who could resist? This was a while ago now so i'm going to keep this brief in an attempt to catch back up on my blog *sigh* Trip to Edinburgh - eventful. Tarek rolls in late (who would have guessed?) after a big pre-trip party night, sleeps most the way there. We are cruising along the A1 direct to Edinburgh no possible way to get lost there so I have a nap, only to wake up in a supermarket car [View Full Entry]

I was invited by a friend I met travelling to check out Bristol, a good chance to see another smaller english city. I was reminded again that travel in England isn't cheap, the train cost £40 each way! We went out to a pub on the Friday night with her friends and it was just like any other pub :) On Saturday we took a day trip to Bath, which is a very quaint little town, all in white stone from the local area. Breakfast was at the original Sally Lunns, Englands oldest tea house established in 1680 something I think. [View Full Entry]

Big city Zurich Europe » Switzerland » North-East » Zürich
It was another beautiful train ride through the coutryside to Zurich where I met Markus, another Swiss english student that stayed with us in NZ. We went back to his brand new flat to meet Annina his girlfriend and to eat a traditional swiss meal of potatoes and melted cheese. Well there was a little more to it than that, special grilling cheese, spices and specialist equipment; mini cheese grilling pans and a cheese grill, quite an affair and delicious. The next day Markus took me up Mount Weissenstein which had amazing views out over most of Switzerland across to the [View Full Entry]

Small town Sarnen Europe » Switzerland » South-West » Sarnen
We had a long train ride from Geneva to Sarnen, I beat Advanced Wars Dual Strike on my Nintendo (yessss!) and we soaked up some Swiss scenery along the way. It was a long travel day and we were glad to meet Alban at the station in Sarnen, we grabbed some food and he took us back to his place for a few welcome drinks and an action packed game of Risk (which he won, told you the Ukraine is weak!) I met Alban many moons ago when he came to NZ to study english and lived as a homestay with [View Full Entry]

Party in Prague Europe » Czech Republic » Prague
Having crawled off the train in Prague we took the underground to our Hotel where I was seriously considering staying in bed and skipping New Years celebrations altogether. By this stage Craig had gotten sick too so the plagued were quarantined to our own room, both thankful to escape the power ballad brothers. But when our mate Laurence made his grand entry I felt obliged to go out, even if just for a little bit to see in the new year. I loaded up on cough medicine and lemsip capsules and had a few hearty swigs of Milad's vodka and we [View Full Entry]

Being sick sucks. We had a single full day here, which i spent in bed. I ventured out once at night to get food, it was quite scary. Speedy and Captain CB tell me the locals here are nice, real nice. The next morning, New Years eve, we boarded a train to Prague to party. I was reminded why I like train journeys so much as we glided peacefully through the snowtouched countryside to our destination. [View Full Entry]
