Tour Its flyen by thats for sure, all a bit of a blur but heaps of fun.
In Skipton now, big drive but it is definitely what we were looking for-traditional market town but big enough to have plenty of shops - for Mum! and everything e need for a nice relaxing break between tours:)
Melbourne cup I think there is a seperate trophy to keep for winner which is Waterford crystal - not 100% sure though. Guy spoke as if it was main trophy
Snowman To give you an idea of the cold - snowman we made on Monday is still there today (Thursday) - not strictly still a man as his heads melted so more a big blob but you get the idea.
Kia ora Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. There is no mention of SNOW where you are. NZ has been hit with snow in Wgtn, Rotorua and even Auckland.
Hi Hi Leah great to hear from you. Scotland was brilliant - temperature ranged from 9-15 degrees and it was quite wet - but didn't worry us at all! Pleased to have missed the troubles in UK and that they didn't affect you (Ealing is quite close to you isn't it?). Hopefully will all be settled down by the time we cross get back. Ireland goos so far (slight worry in Derry - all part of experience though.
Love Grant and Jeanette
Disturbances and hello Hello you two,
Thought I'd catch up on your travels while watching Newcastle v Arsenal on the first day of the Premiership (not particularly interested - cricket victories very front of mind).
I thought of you last week during Riot England (safe in Chiswick although some shops boarded up just in case); I reassured myself that you'd be well out of the way of trouble (small 't'), north of the border but you've found some in Ireland...
It looks a little bit wet where you are - I hope the sun has shone through at times although mist adds to the mood in Scotland (very envious of Orkney visit).
Take care,
Leah xx
Beer Whilst in Scotland if you got to a bottlestore or supermarket try a Fraoch Heather Ale. Brewed in Scotland since 2000BC, I remember I had one whilst I was on the Isle of Skye. Oh and Fenson is your captain, didn't have money on my phone to text you back.
That's weird, there was pretty big gift shop when I was there, it must've shut down. It had the won the best toilets in Scotland award the year before I was there, so it's a real loss.
What a game it was. Unfortunately SKY didn't show it so had to watch it online, but how good was united's second goal. Speaking ok SKY making ridiculous decisions they aren't showing the Football League Show this year. Surely that must have been a ratings winner for them. I'm filthy on it.
Davidson coat of arms! Awesome!
Did Mum take some pictures of the embroidery?
Does the sign on the little white pub say "The Auld Smuddy Inn?" :D Auld Smuddy!
Lots of love to you guys xo
I bet you'll be surprised how much you have in common with everyone :)
And there will always be your journey to chat about - you're all embarking on similar adventure together - that's one huge thing in common right there. Everyone'll have a story about what brought them to the tour etc; exciting times, you guys have so many amazing things ahead!
Wonderful to hear your plans and know you are there now Hi there Jeanette and Grant
So nice to hear that you are on your way and see the schedule. And pleased to see you have relaxing time on the plan. I'm stuck at home because of the snow and black ice on the roads down the hill from home. Looking forward to hearing about more of your adventures. Lots of love, Melody +3
Warm beer. The solution to the warm been problem is to go to pubs that have "extra cold" beers on tap. Which are reasonably common, and are the same temperature as beer over here. But only the big breweries like Carling and Fosters have their beers in an extra cold option so it's be like coming to NZ and drinking speights and export. I'd suggest preserving with warm ales, and trying as many as you can, but it's definitely not to everyone's taste.
Since our Big OE a few years back we've done a bit of a travel blog when we've been away from home. Enjoy reading and reflecting on our adventures and also great way to let family and friends know how we're going. Our latest break was to Melbourne for an 9 day Racing tour featuring the iconic Melbourne Cup meeting...... full info
