Things to bring - From: Our trip to Hawaii
Hi Jenny, depends on what your plans are. If you want to see the higher parts like some of the volcanoes, you'll need to bring a jacket or sweater. Apart from that just shorts, tea shirts and swimmers of course. You can hire snorkelling gear so no need to bring that, a good guide book also helps. Regards, Glen

Reply to Greg - From: Puraran Beach
Hi Greg, The quickest way to get there is to fly to Virac with Asian Spirit, get a tricycle to the Jeepney station in Virac, get a jeepney to Baras and then a tricycle to Puraran beach. This is OK if you don't have a surfboard or too much luggage, alternatively you can arrange a private trip to Puraran from the airport in a car or even a tricycle but it's a lot more expensive. Cheers, Glen

Beautiful - From: Cairns
I finally got to read the blog and what a great one! First of all I want to say that both of you, Glen and Eleanor look good with no glimpse of getting any older. What a great place to spend time together! The trip was full of varied activities but still restful. Kuranda reminded me of Kauai, my favorite island in Hawaii, because it is lush and green though I did not get to go to their jungle which I now regret since your pictures are beautiful. Who knows, I might go to Cairns one day. You're right; Eleanor seemed to enjoy snorkeling so we'll do it together in Davao better yet, we can all do it there! Thanks for sharing, LOVE IT!

Pictures are always great and your blogs are very descriptive - so descriptive that I'd want to visit these places next time I am in your part of the world. Take care.

must see in the phils! - From: Planning My Philippines Trip
hello! it's nice to know you've taken so much to time just to see our contry :) if you want to go surfing, the best place to go is siargao island (in surigao, mindanao) or san juan, la union (northern luzon, near san fabian and zambales). there are also good surfing spots in zambales and quezon. i believe you can find waves until april :) if you like to just laze around the beach, i would strongly recommend boracay, panglao island in bohol, pagudpud in ilocos norte, just to name a few. i hope you enjoy your visit. filipinos are very friendly and are always willing to help you out if you have any questions. and i do hope you spread the word around that the philippines is a beautiful country that's worth visiting :) thanks!

Wow! Now that is what I call, "living it up!" Happy Birthday my dear. You obviously had a great time and both you and Eleanor deserve it. I just got to thinking that when you know you can leave the kids behind - maaan, they are older - and yes, you are older too (he, he, he). Hope you reconsider joining Eleanor in December when she comes to the Philippines. Take care and once again, all the best for your birthday.

RORO Ferry - From: Marinduque and the Mariones Festival
I was with my wife's family who all speak Tagalog and it was confusing even for them. We had to go to various people on the wharf to try and organise a ticket. I think it's easier if you can get a bus from Manila to Marinduque, this should include the RORO Ferry component.

Qantas Flight - From: Update from Market Market
I had the same experience too with Qantas. Flight being cancelled and the staff was not very helpful. I think that Qantas should make a way to inform all their passengers if they are cancelling a flight!!! How inconvenient! I travelled on Philippine Airlines before and when they had a scheduled change of flight, i received a call from the airline!! I wouldnt blame the travel agent. As, the airlines tell us not to reconfirm flights, and this happens when we dont! Anyway, i hope you had a good trip to the Philippines to at least look back to... Ta!

Easter message - From: Update from Shopsville Arcade in Greenhills
Dude I just realised you could add a comment. I googled your name ( not much on tv at the moment) and I read the comments others have been submitting. If you've been getting my e-mails to mum you will know that the landscaping is finished. We are pleased with the job and it came in pretty well on budget. It's Jockey's 21st tomorrow night. We had the family tea last night and Hima came over. Her parents cooked a special lunch for him and gave him a nice pen. Tomorrow night looks like being cold with the chance of a shower, so we hoping that the rain will stay away. I've purchased a patio heater whicn works very well. It was going to cost $144 to hire and I bought it for $169. One of the guys from work rang me late yesterday and said that he'd heard a rumour that John was selling JLC to another company. I'll ring John on Tuesday to check it out. I've been very busy the last month doing an average of 6-7 houses a day. I tried to ring you last night but couldn't get through. Sounds like your having a great time. Plenty of good food, wine and San migs. For Jervis' party of gone for a combo of Becks(Jockys choice), Crownies, carlton and vbs. For the wine drinkers i've got traminer reisling. Spirit drinkers will have to bring their own. If anyone requests a red I've got a good cleanskin from Dan Murphy's a 2001 Victorian Shiraz. We're expecting about 70 people all up. Thats about all the news. I will try to ring again soon. Cheers Dude.

Hope to see more of your sojourn Glen, specially in Marinduque. A photo of the Paras ancestral home (Kapitan Peruco Mansion) would be great. I have not seen it for mote than 15 years.

Dear Glen, The places you have been look really great and the prices of accomodation and food etc. are super value. We saw mum on Tuesday, she's o'k and eating quiet well and looking forward to going to Jenny's on Easter Sunday. Dave Fenn is close to finishing and the place is going to look nice when finished as you can imagine. Rhys has gone over to Epping tonight and will be staying the night at his girlfriend's place, whle Tris has gone into the City with his mate Phil to meet some Uni friends. Eva leaves for the U'K on Wednesday for 6 weeks, she's saying it will be her last trip as she feels she is getting to old to travel. That's all for now Regards Jimmo

Pi - THE ULTIMATE RELAXATION DESTINATION - From: Puraran Beach
Hi Glen - Ta muchly for the blog. Your holiday in the PI seems to be the ultimate in relaxation destinations! Those resorts sound fantastic! Steve and I will join you, Eleanor, Michael and Justine on the next trip!!! No news here really - just the 'same old same old'. Mum is the same and enjoys hearing all your news (the chocolate thief seems to be reformed as no more choccies have gone missing over the last week or so!!!). Please give our love to Florita and all the family when you're back in Manila. The painting etc at Mum's is moving along but albeit a little slowly as the woodwork is taking much longer than expected - there is just so much of it. We have it all under control though so by the time you get back most of the renos. will be done. No news at Mrs Hales' - Warren told the agent the house is too dear!!! Not much more to report from here so toodlepip for now. L&K, Jenny & Steve

Hi from Steve and Jenny - From: Legaspi - Mayon Volcano
Hi Glen - The travel blogs are very entertaining and Mum enjoys hearing them as I take them in each visit. All is ok there - no news. We are having some QF friends over for dinner tomorrow night - I am doing the whole lot in advance, with some of the dishes already done. We are having Bender & Curtis's Surfing The Menu Smoked Salmon with Fennel & Dill pickled salad, then Ainsley's One Pot Chunky Beef Bourgignon, with baked potatoes and pumpkin from The Shed at Nowra, then Rhubarb & Berry crumble with Rick Stein's Vanilla Ice-cream. Funny how they are all celebrity chef recipes!!! I should ask Duffo for his favourite recipe!!! Toodlepip for now - L&K, Jenny, Steve, Digs & Izz.
