On leaving Cody, Wyoming, we realised we were at our farthest away point from San Francisco (and most Easterly) in the trip. From here, we came back through Yellowstone then headed directly South, to go straight through the dramatic Grand Teton National Park and spend the night in a motel in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. After that, it's dead South, to enter the state of Utah at Salt Lake City before cutting East again to reach the fantastic town of Moab and pick up the trail of my last trip to America with TNT in '07.... read more

On making it through Oregon's vast rural East side, we made it into picturesque Idaho. Faced with the decision of interstate or rural road, it was an easy decision to head for the mountains and follow the Middle Fork river along the famous Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway (Highway 21) from Boise to Stanley, then taking Route 73 to Ketchum before checking out Craters of the Moon National Park. From there, we travelled through the bizarre Arco before heading straight for miles through the eerie landscape of Route 26 that slices through the vast Atomic City and the enormous US National Laboratory area (all signal dampening included!) to reach Idaho Falls. From there, on to West Yellowstone in Montana and a venture to Buffalo Bill's hometown of Cody, Wyoming to pick up some cowboy boots and spurs. ... read more

On collecting our van for the next 4 weeks from the rental depot in Dirty-Harry-suburbia San Francisco, we set a bearing of North over the Golden Gate bridge to Marin County, Northern California. We've estimated between 4000 to 5000 miles of tarmac for this escapade and looking at the road map, it takes the shape of a wide lasso being thrown around the Californian Coast, the Wild Wild West and the deserts of Utah, Arizona and Nevada. It's a monster road-trip with 4 weeks to get back to San Francisco's Union Square so I was keen to get some miles under the belt straight away. This was difficult though because just 2 miles over the Golden Gate bridge, we looked down steep cliffs to the pretty sea-side hide away of Sausalito and caught an amazing view ... read more

On leaving San Franciso at the tail-end of a coast-to-coast USA road-trip three years ago, I promised to come back in the future. So here it is. The start of a new 4 week itinery, beginning (yeah!!!) and ending (nooo!) at the Golden Gate and taking in parts of Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California. First up, 4 days in San Francisco, checking out the Golden Gate park, Chinatown, Union Square, Japanese Tea Garden, Haight-Ashbury and Fisherman's Wharf before picking up the van and heading out to the open road. Let's Go!!... read more

We started our 2 week summer trip island hopping up the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia by flying into Dubrovnik. A picturesque town with an ancient walled citadel encasing countless marble paved streets and vein like alleyways that disappear off the main thoroughfare, called The Stradun. Pleasant people, great weather, rich culture and Italian influenced Adriatic/Meditteranean cuisine. All in all, a great destination. After Dubrovnik, it's off to the Islands of Korcula and Hvar then making land again in Split ("Come on Goran!!") before heading up the coast to fly back from Zadar aka ancient Zara. ... read more
