Once upon a time, in a land far far away called China, two western travelers rose from their slumber, when the clock struck 6.30. The ever exhausted travelers were pleased to find that this day he clock had struck at the right time, as twas but a day earlier they did but rise an hour premature. The fixed their attire, applied the appropriate spf protection and feasted upon the breakfast provided for them. The guide Selena crossed paths with them, and they boarded the beast which would courteously transport them for the following day of travels. The beast visited many tribes to gather the remaining mystical beings who would be joining today (once again non other venturing from the land of England). Our back packs full- well Emmas full- our families all gathered in black to mourn or going. Check in was straight forward and after hugs, tears, and more warnings to not get raped (cheers for the advice nan), we set up the escalator to begin our adventure. Maybe a sign of things to come when we are stopped at baggage control, Emma is frisked- which she doesnt complain about- and my bag is thoroughly swabbed- i swear i dont know how the cocaine got in there! But all was forgotten when we were kicking our feet up, whacking a chill in ... read more

Its 9 days untill we begin our trip with a 14 hour journey to Beijing. The tour for Beijing is sorted courtesy of lovely Linda at 'tourchina'! Visas are done and injections have been injected- only 2 hepatitus Bs which means that I'm 94% covered :S. Being super organised, luggage is nearly all gathered as it has been for the last month! We went and bought our medical bits and bobs today, Emma has insisted that pregnancy tests aren't neccesary but I'm not convinced. Anyway theres not much to say since the only interesting thing I saw today was on obese chav on the 472 bus telling her 4 year old little girl to 'shut the f*** up', so untill China... ... read more
