| 24th March 2007 Seven Oaks BnB | Looking forward to seeing you in Hood River soon - From: Final Destination: The beaches of Southern Thailand Mark and Leighanne, Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us. We've certainly enjoyed having a virtual vacation. Hurry up and come see us again. Greg and Linda |
| 24th March 2007 Julie O | uh oh.. - From: Final Destination: The beaches of Southern Thailand what a way to end the post! (and the trip)! my conscience was suddenly marred by the sound of thai wedding bells and visions of you guys in white linen and eyelet, barefoot and tan, with your smiling thai wedding planner... I'll drink to that! (after I push out this baby boy in T-minus 3 weeks...) :):) |
| 23rd March 2007 susan | um.. yeah! - From: Final Destination: The beaches of Southern Thailand wow way to end the last entry ... stay tuned... |

| 23rd March 2007 eric duvauchelle | mark, get the hint - From: Final Destination: The beaches of Southern Thailand Mark, since i know you upload the pics and Leighanne writes the words, take note of this: "It would be a perfect place to get married. " i think she is hinting at something. |
| 21st March 2007 Arthur from Limoges | So True ! - From: Watch your step I love it, this is so true- :-) every single word in this text is accurate ! it is exactly how it is ; in fact, if somebody had not pushed us across the road, Kim and I would be still waiting on the sidewalk for the traffic to open. |
| 14th March 2007 Lisa | living vicariously - From: The three simple rules of traveling safely abroad As all the rest have said - sounds like a blast. I an envious of the adventures sitting here at my desk (although I do have a fantastic view of the Olympic mountains today...) - and I can't wait to get the complete story. Hope you got a video of one of the motorbike rides?! |
| 12th March 2007 eric d | wow - From: The three simple rules of traveling safely abroad you lucky bastards. this is great, thanks to you i don't have to go there anymore as i am sure it looks the same in pictures as in real life. So thanks for saving me thousands of dollars and exertion. |

| 8th March 2007 Macias | - From: Europe on the Mekong Sweet, wish I was there...I seriously need a vacation especially after reading this ;) |
| 8th March 2007 Sawan | You are lucky you took the slow boat - From: The Sweet Smell of Diesel Hey Guys, Love the letters, wish I was there; hahaha. Anyways, it is a good thing that you took the slow boat, as I am sure you saw the fast boats make your van ride look like a safe and enjoyable time. When Anna and I were there they said that something along the order of 1 tourist a month dies taking the fast boats up and down the river. And I am sure you can see why. Be safe and don't do what I would Sawan |
| 7th March 2007 Heaterflame | ?borders? - From: The Sweet Smell of Diesel I've come to realize crossing borders is like bidding at an auction for peaces of mind. |

| 5th March 2007 Debby | orange - From: Europe on the Mekong What fabulous colors and photos. I especially like the monks' feet and their orange robes. The stack of market scarves looks hard to resist. |
| 5th March 2007 Gina | - From: Europe on the Mekong Between my Dad's pictures of India and these wonderful entries I want to drive to the airport instead of taking Gabby to school! LOVE reading about your adventures! Be safe and I can't wait to see the next pictures! Love you both so much! |
| 5th March 2007 Julie O | ahhh Hanoi - From: Europe on the Mekong ...back to civilization then, eh? send some of that Thai/Lao food my way. The watermelon, pineapple/mango salad sounds scrumptious! | 28th February 2007 Yonna | Good Sign... - From: No Lady Men or Bar Girls Please Check with the locals, but in many cultures, getting shat on is a good sign! Blessings... |
| 28th February 2007 Darren | Serenity Now! Costanza in the marketplace. - From: No Lady Men or Bar Girls Please George would be proud, you pulled the walk away. It didn't work so, "George is getting mad!" But nice job on the return at closing time. She doesn't want to haul that stuff home, she wants you to! When you dine on the streets and amongst locals, you really should try my new style of ordering when language is the definite barrier. Instead of pointing to the picture of what looks good on the menu, or pointing to the item that includes the most words you seem to recognize, look for a fellow patron eating something that looks good and just point to their food! This was a successful strategy at a lunch stand near the Tokyo fish market last fall. (Successful at making me look like the tourist boob that I was!) 2 feet of snow back here in Upstate, New York. Enjoy the tropics! Oh, if you see some decorative cotton (not silk, these must be functional for blowing el schnozzo) handkerchiefs, haggle for me, I'm good for it. DD |
| 27th February 2007 2Pop | haggling & Ram Dass - From: No Lady Men or Bar Girls Please haggle rule #1. NEVER give your opening price until you make the other guy comes down TWICE from his opening price. And, of course, you always want the other guy to think he's in control by allowing him to name the first price, which is really meaningless. What do the monks think about Ram Dass? |
| 27th February 2007 Macias | great pics - From: No Lady Men or Bar Girls Please Hey guys, you are making me very reminiscent of my trip to Thailand...I can almost taste the pad thai...except that I am eating Oatmeal right now. Sounds like you are having a blast. Be safe and looking forward to more pictures of your trip! XOXO, Macias |

| 19th February 2007 Les | Paper Matches - From: T-minus 3 hours and counting. Leighann & Mark, Try finding some paper matches once you land. If you eat one match tip a day they'll keep the skeeters and ticks off you. I know it sounds crazy but it works for me, garlic will help as well. |

All of us readers seem to be enjoying your global explorations as a way to supplement our lives. In between lengthy research papers and struggling to master APA style writing and citations, I can catch up on the travels and tribulations, and the pictures! Mark, you keep missing several spots shaving. Damn those catapillers grow big out there! Sincerely, Grad Student in New York (procrastinating by reading your emails) |
| 28th November 2005 snuffleupagus | black friday - From: No More Bush, Please. While you were avoiding bushes, I braved the retail weekend. It's all a sham. Nothing I wanted was on sale, yet there were herds of people everywhere, caught up in the event like sheep on your island pasture. Except Washington Square looks nothing like Milford Sound. |
| 26th November 2005 Bill & Deb | Fantastic - From: No More Bush, Please. The scenery is pristine and fantastic. And you survived the down pour of water. On to Sydney! |
