| 8th October 2009 Ed Crookshank | We can identify! - From: Worship in a Dry Land Sorry to hear about Jacob being sick. However, we are glad that he is better. If he lost 10 lbs. he must have to stand in the same place twice to see his shadow. We sure can identify with your trip. We appreciate the work you are doing. Ed & Lina |
| 7th October 2009 Steve Holcomb & Family | Hello - From: Worship in a Dry Land Hello George! Glad Jacob is getting better. Thanks for the words. We definitely take too many things for granted at times. I try to remind myself to be thankful for what we have. It was good to see Julia last week. Missed the rest of the family! | 7th October 2009 Heck Family | Thankful for Jacobs recovery - From: Worship in a Dry Land Dear Jensens, We are so very thankful to hear that Jacob is recovering. That boy didn't have 10 pounds to lose! Thank you for sharing your day of worship with us. It does remind us of what we have to be thankful for and also makes us feel more in touch with you all. We are praying for you constantly. We are so glad Jewels is home safe and sound! We miss you and love you! Dustin wants you to know we have a new "stray". A Boxer named Duchess. She is very skittish, but is taming down. Love, Debbie & David, Joshua, Candice, Robert and Dustin |
| 7th October 2009 Kathryn | Thankful - From: Worship in a Dry Land We are so thankful that Jacob is doing better. We fuss about so many little things sometimes and forget the most important--being together with other Christians for the mutual edification gained by so doing. Thank you for the reminder! Love to you all~ |
| 11th September 2009 Laura & Amy Jensen | ewwwww... - From: Tales of Mice & Men not hungry now!!! |
| 5th September 2009 Kathryn, Nathan, Miles & Silas | Our Comments - From: Tales of Mice & Men I read this post to the boys and they agreed that the fur would be the hardest part to get down. They have eaten bones in salmon so that could be dealt with--but fur!!!??? They agreed that they would prefer to try ox brains over mice! Thanks so much for keeping us updated on your life there. We sure enjoyed our extra daughter at PTP! Love you all, Kathryn & crew |
| 5th September 2009 Allan Shafer | MMM MMM Good - From: Tales of Mice & Men Of all the blogs you've sent so far I believe this one is by far the one that choked me up the most. I will be looking at those corn "dogs" at the county fair in a little different light. |
| 4th September 2009 Donna White | Mice on a stick - From: Tales of Mice & Men Hi Joy, Enjoyed reading this story. Time permitting, I think I will read it to the ladies at our first Ladies Bible Class this next Wednesday, before our Potluck Luncheon :) Love to all... Donna |
| 4th September 2009 Debbie | Ick - From: Tales of Mice & Men Perhaps I would have enjoyed your post more if I had not sat down to read it while eating my breakfast. Ahem.... |
| 3rd September 2009 Rebecca | - From: Tales of Mice & Men I'm all about those pork chops on a stick, but I agree that a mouse may be a bit much!! Maybe I should tell Andrew though, that it's wasteful when we have a mouse in the house, to kill it then throw it away. We could be feeding our family a rare treat! :D I'm glad your trip has gone well and know your family is very happy to have the two of you back with them. Love you all! |
| 3rd September 2009 Amy Hester | foraging - From: Tales of Mice & Men Hello to all the Jensens! Thank you for the insightful blog to keep us "plugged in" to all your experiences. When I got over my disbelief, I could see the mice-on-a-stick as a means of survival for these indigenous people. "Unless you believe, you will not understand." - St. Augustine, 354 AD - 430 AD. We love to forage too, but dandelion and plantain are about as far as it goes! Paul just returned from a mission trip to the Marshall Islands. The natives fed him fresh coconut, red snapper and noni fruit. Maybe not what he would have eaten here at home, but he didn't go hungry. I trust God it caring for you through all your new experiences as well as trials, even if you can not always distinguish one from the other. Blessings Always, Amy Hester |

| 24th January 2009 ferrell Hinds | I know how you feel - From: A Close Call I really do know how you feel as Kenneth and I were in a little accident in Aug. last year. We were neither one injured but the car was damaged but repairable. We were thankful for both those facts. It is a very scarey feeling to be going through the process of the accident. I occasionally relive it in my mind as though I am viewing it from the outside looking at it. I feel the bounce of the car as it settles down and I realize I am not hurt and that Kenneth wasn't either. Then I look at the car and see what happened and realize it could have been so much worse. So yes I know the feeling. I am so glad for you that your accident wasn't worse and that all survived. Love Ferrell |

| 7th January 2009 Deboraw | Good Job - From: Girl's Seminar Joy, Very good post. We always look forward to reading your entries. Smile. So, you DO have the TIME problem. We had that in Jamaica--a lot. When you find the magical connector that opens up the minds of these kids so that they make the connection between what is being taught and the application... Very few really seem to make that connection. Sad but true...I remember two in particular in my teaching experience. I was teaching on modesty, and halter tops. She said "but I wear halter tops!" and never came back to church. The other was similar, but I was teaching on 'being kind', and that we shouldn't make fun of other children. The young girl didn't say anything verbally, but she was rather well off, and her family was rather snobbish...and you could see it in her eyes--she stopped coming to church also. The saying is so true, 'Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; Christianity has been tried and found difficult'. Only of course because we make it that way, but it should change us, and most of us don't like change...often even change for the better. Keep up the good work. smile-- Love you all, Donevy |
| 7th January 2009 John Moore | an epiphany - From: Big Game Hunting and a Youth Get-Together Hey George, all these years I thought and Impala was something one drives--you know like a car (Ha! Ha!). | 3rd December 2008 kup | - From: Back to Busy Glad you are back in the saddle so to speak and enjoying your work in Moshi again. The New Stove sounds wonderful and I know, having stuck my feet up under your table several times, it will be used to the greatest good. I was thinking that you probably won't be cooking on the Barbi much with the new all gas stove, too bad, because there are not many women I know that can cook a graduation cake like the one you made on a barbi. You are something else woman!! Have a wonderful week. With much love and a bushel basket full of good wishes, hugs and thanksgiving for all the good work your whole family is doing in Tanzania. | 13th October 2008 kup | - From: From Charleston to Georgia, to Alabama Don't believe I have ever seen George and Joy Jensen look quite as happy as the picture of you two in this blog, unless it was watching the taillights of the vehicle that took me away from you house last June!! | 7th August 2008 Patrick Swayne | Hmm.... - From: Cost of Living The prices are actually quite similar to those in Melbourne... you would think I was living out in the bush somewhere as well. America truly is a blessed place. |

| 7th June 2008 Patrick Swayne | campaign - From: Safari for Souls 2008 - Moshi, TZ Everything looks good so far; I hope this is able to do a lot of good. I wonder if the Pentecostals would approve of what that lady is doing to her husband? If she thinks she is right, shouldn't she be trying to win her husband with her chaste conversation coupled with fear? "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." I'll be praying for you all. |
| 5th June 2008 Darryl Lewis | - From: Safari for Souls 2008 - Moshi, TZ Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated. It helps us a whole lot. We appreciate you and are praying for you. |

| 2nd June 2008 Don Wade | If only more were like you... - From: An Addition to the Body I really enjoyed the article "A Living Sacrifice," by Lindsey Anne Jensen. I will only say that if more of our young people were as spiritually minded as your article indicates that you are, well, then so much would be different in our world today. I applaud Women of Hope and the Christian Courier for putting this article online for all to read. Very nice job!! |
| 28th May 2008 Patrick Swayne | report - From: Mud Bogging in Tanzania You would think that the drivers of the vans would carry some 2x4's to put under the tires when they get stuck... it works with ice and snow, so I would assume it would work there. Well, glad you made it out safe. |
| 26th May 2008 Patrick Swayne | English Muffins? - From: Children's Bible Class I can't tell what the inside of them is like, but the outside of them looks more like American Biscuits. :) Good to hear that the kids are enjoying the lessons and that plans are coming along for the campaign. I hope that whatever situations are troubling you all will be sorted out as well. Be steadfast, unmoveable, and always abounding! |
| 13th May 2008 ferrell Hinds | Pioneering women - From: Children's Bible Class All of you are really learning what it must have been like for the pioneering women in our country. You may have a few of the more modern things but beating the rugs to get them clean is really getting down to the old ways. That kind of work in our country is really not so far removed from our times thpough. I know that rug beating was done even within my memory. It may be done in some more primative areas of this country even yet. Any way you are all learning some basic stuff and when you do have a modern sweeper you will really appreciate it. Ferrell |
| 13th May 2008 kup | I'm hungary - From: Children's Bible Class What's the deal you putting all these pictures of good stuff to eat? I'm trying to lose weight and you are making me want to go to Tanzania and eat!! I think your rug cleaning with a stick is just soon to be over with, you'll have a new more modern way to do it. Hope all is well and ya'll are doing good. God bless. just ken |
| 13th May 2008 Tanzanita | Keep up the Good Work! - From: Children's Bible Class Hey Jensen's, you are doing a good work. I know you are excited about your furlough, but we're going to miss you when you are gone. We love y'all! Nita Hochdorf |

| 11th March 2008 Janine | Oh No! Snakes - From: Snakes Anyone? It's nice to see that Julia's made it home all right... but Julia is that really you, the one that has sat behind me in services for the last couple of months? It does look as if you are holding it at some distance, a little more than your sister. Janine |
| 10th March 2008 Emily Purdom | No fair! - From: Snakes Anyone? Ok...So it is totally NOT fair that ya'll got to go to a snake park! I'd love to do that cause I like snakes! Maybe I can get Lydia to bring me one back.....Love you guys! Keep up the great work you are doing there! ~Emily |
| 10th March 2008 Jeana | Glad to see that you are becoming one with nature Jensen family. - From: Snakes Anyone? Hope all is well. I love the rain and the rainbow. The things that seem so mundane to some still create a feeling of awe of our Creator. Some of his creatures I surely could have done without! Like the snake. Love you guys and I thought I would visit but not after the snake photos!! |
| 9th March 2008 Patrick Swayne | hmm.... - From: Snakes Anyone? Does this qualify as a snake handling service? :) |
| 9th March 2008 Ferrell Hinds | Snakes !! NOOOOOO!!! - From: Snakes Anyone? I agree with just ken. I don't want any part of the snakes. Well I might look at them through glass but no touching for me. And I don't want to live close to them. That would include living in Africa or any place else they might be abundent. Ferrell |
| 8th March 2008 Jonathan Stanley | python - From: Snakes Anyone? Hello Jensen family. I'm studying snakes for my Masters degree so I can help you out identifying one of those snakes that you're not sure of. The python you have pictured is a Southern African Rock Python. It is one of two species of python in Tanzania. I'm not sure what the other unidentified snake is. I went to Tanzania a few times for the Safari for Souls campaigns when I was a student at Freed-Hardeman. I had heard about the snake park but never had a chance to go there. I enjoyed your pictures very much. Keep up the good work you are doing and God bless.....Jonathan Stanley |
| 8th March 2008 kujp | - From: Snakes Anyone? Ok George that does it for me-you've been to the snake farm- you have crossed over, not only that it looks like from the pictures that your children have as well. Fair warning I am afarid of snakes there are only six kinds that bother me, short, long, fat. skinny, alive and dead ones. Glad you enjoyed that place I have been by there many times with no ambition to stop, been invited a couple of times and did not go and guess what-as the Lord lives I am not going there. You all look great glad you and the Hochdorf's are spending some time together-really good people should get to know one another. God bless. Check under the beds.......just ken |

May God Bless you, the Burrows from Needville church of Christ in Texas |

| 5th November 2007 Hecks | hello - From: Arusha National Park We are so glad you guys could have a nice family day together. We all need that as often as we can get it. Glad to know you enjoyed such a wonderful day in God's creation. Much love from all of us! p.s.Dustin wants you to know that we rescued an abandoned albino ferret. He was left all (very chilly) day long in a cage in front of the vets in the same parking lot as the church building. The people who left him said they were moving and couldn't take him. Actually her. Snowball is what we named her. She stinks, but she is cute. Love you all. Debbie |

Thanks for all the work that you & your family are doing. I appreciate you. |
| 3rd November 2007 Ferrell | Arusha Nat'l Pk - From: Arusha National Park Glad you to hear you took a day off for fun. I like your picrures especially the ones of the huge fig tree. That reminds me of the big ones in Calif. that can be driven thru. The name of that "hotdog" bush/tree was very apt I wouldn't mind seeing it myself. I sure like reading of your adventures over there. Love, Ferrell |
| 21st October 2007 Jim Foltz | gecko - From: Ladies Seminar at Monduli Joy, I enjoyed you gecko story. Betty and I both had a good laugh. Who knew that mission work would give somoe one a gecko story. Keep up the good work. Love Jim & Betty |
| 20th October 2007 George and Joy | Re: Insurance - From: A New Set of Wheels and Language School I have seen the Geico commercials, and they are funny, but I must admit that I wasn't thinking of insurance at the time. Maybe I do need gecko insurance around here, though, because it seems like we keep having these "incidents" with geckos. :) |
| 20th October 2007 Ferrell | Insurance - From: Ladies Seminar at Monduli When the gecko landed on you I don't suppose you had any of his (Geico) insurance and he was just trying to get you to get some. If you haven't seen any of the American Ads about Geico insurance this will go over you head, but it hasn't been that long that you've been out of the states so I'm sure you have probably seen them and will relate to this. That was the 1st thing I thought of and just couldn't resist teasing about it. Love Ferrell |
| 1st October 2007 All the Hecks | Happy Birthday and Miss you all - From: A New Set of Wheels and Language School Happy Birthday George! We sure missed you all at RH this year. We all commented on how things just didn't seem normal without you all. It was strange to look up and never find a Jensen's smiling face. We didn't even eat any icecream without you. We plan on eating double with you all next year though. :o) We love you all and continue to pray for you constantly. All the Hecks |

Just want you to know that you will be missed this year. May God continue to bless and protect you! |
| 7th September 2007 kup | - From: On the Homefront Well if it is ok with you I think Wal-Mart milk is going to have to work for me. Not quite up to a "worm" in my milk yet, although I guess you could get use to anything! Just kidding. Leave it to the "George" to figure out a good way to have milk for the "babies". You are a certain joy in my life and a blessing clear through my soul. Have a "strong end" to the week and know that you are loved and appreciated by so many including and most especially this writer. God bless you all. just ken |

| 4th September 2007 kup | - From: Behind the Scenes Sweet people helping other sweet people do the Lord's work, evangelizing the lost of Tanzania. Don't think it gets any better than that, only Heaven will be better. We are thankful for the Jensen's and for all those who have made the Jensen's possible. One of our elders said the other day that if we are willing that makes us able-I believe that and I also believe that it is those sweet folks behind the scene's that make all of us realize just how powerful the providence of God is working in our very own lives, and the multitude of wonderful people who hold our hands up. You good people are doing a wonderful job and we thank God for you. just ken |

| 14th August 2007 kup | - From: Milestones There is a sweet, sweet spirit that spends a lot of time with the Jensen family. I know that is true because they are true examples of the joy, happiness and abundant life that Jesus promises us all if we are obedient and faithfully working in his vineyard. | 29th July 2007 Ferrell Hinds | Being fed - From: Time Marches On It was interesting seeing that you were fed a meal when visiting. I am wondering what kinds of food were served? I'm sure it wasn't your usual fare. Also do you cook what you usually have here in the states or have you made some changes because of availability. Yes, the meat van does appear amusing because it doesn't look to be very clean. Also how did the boys rate the most comfortable seats at the meeting? At least they looked to be the most comfortable. | 13th July 2007 kup | Filled up - From: Counting the Cost What a great blessing!! Ya'll just fill me up with thanksgiving and awe at the great work you are doing. May God bless you in all you do for the Kingdom and protect your health. Not only that you have the best yodler in Tanzania!!! Love that girl. just ken |

| 28th June 2007 kup | How about some articles? - From: Where Do I Begin? Nice pictures. How about an article or two tha we can use in the NL? Have a blessed week. just ken |
| 21st June 2007 Art Wallis | Spider?! - From: Campaign Tiime I looked closely. That bug only has 3 legs on a side. A spider has 4 per side. You have some sort of beetle/bug there. If I missed a leg, then yes it is a spider of some sort! Still not nice to have outside your house whatever it is. Glad things are going so well for you! I pray that Africa is all you had hoped it would be! |
| 20th June 2007 Jack Wheeler | Great Work - From: Campaign Tiime My heart is thrilled to see the work you are doing. I think back when Joy was only a child living in Stockton. Joy's parents Wayne and Betty have been very close friends of ours over the years. Thier training of thier children in the Lord continues to reap harvests. Looking forward to more information on your work. |
| 20th June 2007 Aunt Janie | Campaign News - From: Campaign Tiime Hey, guys. We're enjoying the blog so much--we're saving the entries in a notebook. Wish we could visit you sometime. You're doing a great work, and we keep you in our prayers. Love you, Aunt Janie |
| 20th June 2007 Erin N. Giles | - From: Campaign Tiime Another creepy spider? Egh! I miss you guys! |
| 20th June 2007 Erin N. Giles | - From: Our Container Has Arrived! I'm so glad I didn't hear about those bugs or see pictures of them while in Africa. Sitting here in the US I looked around my area nervously for those icky creepy crawlees. I miss you guys! And I found out you guys know the Fullers! Michelle came up to me and said, "So you probably met the Jensens." And I exploded, "You know the Jensens! Aww! You know the Jensens!" The Fullers helped support my trip to TZ. They are an amazing family. |
| 6th June 2007 kup | Brent Richardson as a helper - From: Our Container Has Arrived! Get Brent to tell you the story of the first time he went to Tanzania and loading his "stuff" on the container at Cy's dad place-If he doesn't remember just ask him if he remembers almost KILLING ken upchurch. That boy has a head as hard as concrete and when he gets his mind on something just get out of the way or you might get hurt. He'll remember he is the reason I am beat up and worn out, or at least part of it. Only picking Brent, well mostly picking I guess. I wouldn't want him "nuked" or anything like that. just ken |
| 6th June 2007 kup | Wonderful news! - From: Our Container Has Arrived! What a great day and week. I know you are thrilled to have your own stuff around you again. I have been in Tanzania when those containers arrive and unloaded a couple and it is truely a happy, happy day. God bless you plus (6) in your work. Be careful on those roads. Take care of your good selves and know that you are loved, admired, respected and prayed for every single day of your lives. Greet the church for us. With all love and thanksgiving. as always, just ken |
| 6th June 2007 ferrell | glad your container has arrived - From: Our Container Has Arrived! Yes ,I'm happy for you to have your own things again. I'm sure it feels like being home again, even though it is a new one, to have YOUR things. I'm glad your beds are raised so the creatures don't join you. That would be a very big YIKES!!! for me to have that kind of bed partner. Keep up the good work. Ferrell |
| 30th May 2007 Heck Family | Haallooo - From: A Missionary's Trip to Dar Es Salaam Hi guys! How is Chubby, Linz? Dustin hopes your bus doesn't get stuck again, and he wants you to know we just had a great family vacation to Wyoming, except for the morning the spider crawled across his face to wake him up. YIKES! Robert is wondering how things are progressing with the Pentecostal preacher? And wants you to know he enjoyed the varmit shooting in WY. (Josh wishes you could have been there, fellas). Candice is glad our hospitals, esp. Ashley's don't resemble that one! 5 weeks until Madison's due date! Love you all! |
| 29th May 2007 Ferrell | Your blog - From: A Missionary's Trip to Dar Es Salaam I got a late start on receiving and reading your blog. In fact I really didn't know you had one until Betty forwarded one to me along in early May. So today after reading all of the comments I realized that there was some information I was missing. So I clicked on something and got back to the beginning. I found it all very interesting and glad I was able to catch up on your travels. Now I will be anxious to read all the forthcoming journals and watch your progress from afar. I will be honest with your although I admire what your are doing I am one that doesn't want to join you over there. I like my creature comforts but I applaud all your efforts. My love to one of my favorite young men. You know who your are, and to you too, Joy. Ferrell |
| 28th May 2007 Jack & Edie Wheeler | You thrill our hearts - From: A Missionary's Trip to Dar Es Salaam What a joy it is to see families we have known for years still faithful to the Lord. And most of all for your dedication to the those on the other side of the world. We will continue to pray for you. |
| 28th May 2007 Wayne Jackson | Appreciation - From: A Missionary's Trip to Dar Es Salaam Betty and I appreciate the fortitude and great dedication of the Jensen family as they labor in Africa. You are in our daily prayers. |
| 28th May 2007 kup | Sounds like Africa - From: A Missionary's Trip to Dar Es Salaam Glad you were successful and only had a stalled bus to contend with and delay you. Sometimes those busses wreck from the drivers getting to impatient and not paying attention. Good pictures of the ferry, building and the preacher and his wife. Thank you for writing. just ken |
| 23rd May 2007 Gerald and Cindy Jones | re: shopping - From: Around Town Gerald, said, "What?" No Wal~Mart! We are excited for you to get your things from home. | 22nd May 2007 Kathryn | Ah, those roundabouts!! - From: Around Town I've been through those in Trinidad. It kind of feels like you just jump in when there is a tiny hole and jump out when you get to your spot all the time driving on the wrong side of the road!! Did you find a food thermometer?? Praying for you, Kathryn |
| 22nd May 2007 tzkup | With Great Thanksgiving - From: Around Town So glad to see Moshi and to "hear " from your sweet writing that things are going well for the plus 6. That is exciting news about your "goods" arriving-I have been in Tanzania when that has happened and it truly is joyous. We continue to keep your names lifted up before the Lord God and continue to pray for you safety, health and good works. There are a bunch of folks in Michigan that saw your faces and heared a fat boy from Ms tell them about the work of TZ 2000 and all of the great servants in Tanzania who are after one for soul for the Kingdom over this past weekend. Hope both congregations will come on board and help us. Please be careful on those roads, take care of your good selves and know that you are loved, admired and respected by all that know you. as always, just ken |

| 16th May 2007 Ferrell Hinds | I have subscribed - From: Settling In Have enjoyed reading your messages when Betty sent them on to me, so decided to subscribe directly so she won't have to forward them to me. It looks like you are doing a good job there and enjoying the work. I don't envy you having to do your laundry by hand. Now you know 1st hand how the pioneer women of our country got by. That is something I've often thought about and wondedred how I would handle such. It must be even harder since you have had to regress to that when they knew no other way. My love Ferrell |
