Maple Ridge Party
Maple Ridge Party
Yes, thats a Canadian in the center drinking NZ #1 export lager, without my influence at all.
Its Wednesday morning awaiting a call to head to work, the boss has been delayed, great, a little writing catch up and chance to start a blog entry that will involve scraping the brain bowl for the lasts two weeks events. Weekends to weekdays, much is the same, but keeping the weekends a whole lot dissimilar. Last weekend after a mad search for the travel agent which I did not end up finding (but sorted out during the week over email will get to that) I jumped on the sky train here in Vancouver and headed forth to Station Braid [View Full Entry]

Good evening all you find yourself reading this, whether it be after work, before, during or whilst putting on your shoes. 4th of March, how time flies by when you get into the rhythm of working weeks, relaxing weekends, almost forgot that I'm actually a traveller of some description, conveyed by Andreas comment on the last blog that apparently this is living the dream, too right you are, thanks for reminding me girl, hope all is well. So two special Happy Birthday mentions this week rather significant ones, Dad 50 you old lion you and my little sis Natalie now a [View Full Entry]

Looking towards North Shore
Looking towards North Shore
From Vancouver, I'm living and working over that side of the water. Went for a stroll along Canada Place yesterday.
Low and behold, the North Shore has me back for a while. Actually, I have been back here for two weeks already and its about time that another blog was written, for many reasons, so you can see what im doing and also its something I have found to rather enjoy, typing away on the computer and seeing what comes to find, it sure beats watching the television here which seems to be an occupation that for whatever reason has captured my previous week or so during spare time, hate that. Considering not watching TV for many months perhaps this is [View Full Entry]

You can ski right down into the town centre.
At all costs, don't go and get yourself a cold the first day up the mountain as I have done. Yes indeed the eager beaver that was got out of bed bright eyed and bushy tailed at 06:30 on Wednesday 18th January (strictly using an expression here, I was not bright eyed this having vast contradictions to my somewhat nocturnal sleeping patterns, nothing has changed) bound for Whistler Blackcomb, 'World Class Ski Resort', some advertising that we can actually take total truth from, it is indeed impressive. The mountain has somewhat limited hours as the sun disappears early here (so I'm [View Full Entry]

On the 3rd of January I decided to make my run over the border into the USA for the purposes of retrieving the working Visa that I had been accepted for following posting everything home to Mum to forward, indeed, applying for your VISA's is best done from home. To retrieve you need to exit stage left and return, a good opportunity (or not) to get a taste of the states, a country previously unvisited before, coincidentally Seattle where Joe my brother had visited 6 months earlier on work, head office of Starbucks, as it happens Microsoft, Adobe, Boeing to name [View Full Entry]

Well its 2007, January the 1st where I stand right now, for you back in NZ you are on day 2 of what is to be another unpredictable year, as they always are. We don’t know what this year will bring, but the beauty is that if we have a fair idea and set our sights on the dreams we bring to the forefronts of our minds then we may just be pleasantly surprised with where we end up. May your dreams come true this year. Where will I be I ponder today, where am I going...there is a rough plan [View Full Entry]

Storming
Storming
Vancouver is getting hit hard at the moment. This latest knocked over 1,000 trees in Stanley Park. Power outages, snow, winds over 120km/h. I slept right through it!
Indeed, its true, sometimes the best trips and times of your life are those that are totally completely utterly planned on a split second decision at a precise moment in the afternoon of a particular Saturday while enjoying a beer and feed in a cosy Canadian pub. It just so happened that this particular spontaneous seed was planted the Saturday before last, at a typical Canadian franchise Earls that does things very well indeed and it grew within 5 minutes and turned into something that may in fact go down as the biggest weekend I will ever see in Vancouver, lets [View Full Entry]

Extreme Kayaking Anyone?
Extreme Kayaking Anyone?
One guy actually thought he would survive in a kayak. He was proven wrong.
Indeed, Toronto, Canadas largest city, the big smoke of the north, affectionately known as T. (T Dot) or simply TO, was kind enough to let me call it home for the past nine days. Arriving last Monday from Oshawa, it was a 30 minute bus/train trip and a farewell to a huge heart back in Oshawa, Big D, you know who you are. Night one was spent in the HI (Hostelling International) Backpackers on Church Street (near King St subway), as per usual HI impress with a great backpackers that comes with a price (I did manage to get a sharp [View Full Entry]

Well, close enough....
Found this on route from Ottawa to Peterborough with Kori who picked me up hitching, took 5 lifts this day to get 300 kilometres.
Ladies and Gentlespoons, It’s Friday evening and I type to you all from a lounge in a small apartment in downtown Oshawa pop. 180,000, 45 minutes outside Canada’s largest smoke, Toronto. Devon, who is a 30 something year old father of four and a Bob Marley loving security guard, gave me a lift today after holding my thumb up for over an hour, the longest I have had to do so far since I started my hitch trip 5 days ago, yes, I picked a shit spot. Location, location, location. It gets you places. It’s been a busy week, lots of [View Full Entry]
