Geez. Without a doubt that was the best Indian dish that I have ever eaten in my whole entire life, and im not just exaggerating for the point of expression, seriously, it was an unreal deal. You could say that its a damn shame one does not find these places at the start of a trip, although its a bloody good way to say fair-well to India. A local to Sudder/Park Street area renowned to tourists, Gounders Restaurant. Paneer Channa, Cheese-Chick Pea curry, which usually does not come together, and they are of late the favourites in dishes so perhaps a [View Full Entry]

Having met two favourable Australian chaps in Rishikesh who unannounced to myself were high on Valumn at the time and therefore quite agreeable, it was decided that traveling North as a trio would be a particularly friendly idea, having survived both the mighty Ganga River (Ganges) together on a floating vessel and the abuse and hassle of the local convenience store shafting us after a week of custom to their shop, not impressed were we to say the least. Well done Tommo on assisting with rubbing it in their face when the authorities decided we were nice enough to sort it [View Full Entry]

Darjeeling for the Weekend? Asia » India » Uttarakhand » Rishikesh
Ok Fearon, sounds great. This was the entry into India, an invitation from a friend whom crossed paths during an evening in Thailand down South, to receiving an invite to an area where it was for sure known that cups of tea are famous for its being. A spontaneous entry into Calcutta following the intention of a cheap plane ticket from Bangkok, leading to an apartment housed by beautiful Irish lasses hanging out helping whipper snappers in the area of TullyGunge, leading to a weekend with Fearons Mum and two of her friends who were heading into Darjeeling for the experience [View Full Entry]

Thailand August 2008 Asia » Thailand » Northern Thailand » Nong Bua
Left home in Canada on the 17th August 2008 following an amazing summer there, to reunite face to face with family (Mum, Lawson, Joe, Natalie) after 2 years on the international road, at Dad and Rotchana's home (present) in Nong Bua Lamphu. It was great to spend a week lounging around together, getting into Motorcycle accidents and playing the fool with my sister. After three days enjoying creature comforts in a Bangkok hotel and shopping it was farewell to family until January on onwards solo. Rather than heading straight to India it was decided to head to Railey Beach in Krabi [View Full Entry]

Following a month back in the city of Vancover following the trip to Victoria, I moved onto an island north east of Nanimo off the East Coast of Vancouver Island to help Paul, Helena and the other Volunteers over the summer with the Whale Recordings and generally running an isolated piece of paradise. It was an amazing place to spend summer and by far a highlight of time spent in Canada, if not the highlight. While there it felt like home, and it feels like a place to return to, so until next time, SARCHI,keep your location a secret. [View Full Entry]

This week Tim and I, a Kiwi from Canterbury who I met in Canada as it would happen, tramped our way into Garibaldi National Park for two nights at Elfin Lakes hut, climbing to Columnar Peak on day two at 1800m before sliding down the peak on a tarp, which I would have to say, along with kicking steps with show touching the knees at certain steep locations was quite exhilarating. As was the Therma Rest tobogganing later in the day down rather steep slopes head first. All in all an amazing location, mid week where we pretty much had the [View Full Entry]

Lets start with a quick update on how one ends up house sitting a beautiful floating home in an amazing bay slightly removed from one of Canada's most talked about downtown locations (Victoria City), on holiday, cruising on a long board to hot yoga classes daily, for the benefit of the past 6 months, which whipped by without a travelblog thought. On News Years Eve 2007, midnight precisely, a greyhound bus bound for Calgary, Alberta, some 18 hours away, pulled away from Vancouver's Central City Station with two friends headed off to make some hard earned spending money in Northern Alberta's [View Full Entry]

More than specifically Tofino, this entry starting in Kelowna, heading to Tofino, back to Vancouver-intermittently in Squamish over the end of summer-weekends, highlight of locations being Tofino. This is my well overdue summer blog starting from return to Vancouver following a visit to see Dad and Rotchana in Thailand -1st August 2007 until this evening 7th November on a rather wet Fall evening following a beautiful clear day, not counting all that grey cloud. Do not even notice the rain anymore, its my friend these days, got the goretex jacket and bike booties to prove it, visor on the hel [View Full Entry]

Three weeks in Railay Beach, Krabi region, South Thailand. Not an opening sentence that is justifiable in description of what exactly this means. Try this: Living a bohemian lifestyle where your backyard is one of three beaches, days revolve around the family you have formed there, rock-climbing and dinner time at a local eating establishment you happen to have eaten at every day who now know you name and exactly how you order everything. A rest day means no climbing because your muscles need a rest so to the beach you go, nothing is more than a 20 minute walk [View Full Entry]
