Well we headed for the country to try something new - that we did. Before you look at this entry please brace yourself, you will witness both of us in a new light. We really did turn into little farm girls. We ended up helping out in the Sheep Shearing Shed, picking olives ( or pretending too) and pruning vineyards. Boyup Brook has been one of the best experiences of our trip so far simply down to all the things we learnt there and experienced. Steve picked us up from a local town, Mandura and took us out straight away to [View Full Entry]

We both had not really thought of visiting Western Australia when we planned our trip however we took the chance to go over and try something new. We were over in WA for farming work. When we arrived in Perth we spent two nights so we could have a look around. We visited Kings Park first which has spectacular views of the city where our pictures have been taken from. Perth is a gorgeous city when you first arrive into it, its a very pretty city as it is surrounded by water. We both think this is one of our favourite [View Full Entry]

1770

 Oceania » Australia » Queensland » 1770
After our greyhound bus journey we arrived in the small town of 1770. It had been recommended to us by our wee pal "B" who had stayed there previously and loved it. Our hostel this time was called Southern Cross and it was in the middle of the country side surrounded by lots of land and it's very own lake. There were horses roaming around freely and the owners two dogs Summer and Scooby. We loved it here and have to say it is one the best hostels we have stayed in so far on the East Coast (there has been [View Full Entry]

Rainbow Beach is a very small little town where most people go to head to Fraser Island. It only has one row of about 7 or 8 shops and cafe's in it and a beach. We stayed in a hostel called Dingo's the night before we went to Fraser Island and the night we came home. The day before you go everyone needs to attend a meeting where you get put into groups of 11 and have to state who is the designated drivers. Both of us where drivers. Everyone meets at 7.45am to start packing the jeep up and have [View Full Entry]

Noosa is a small town with a beach and a few shops. It is nice but there was not a great deal to do there. We met some lovely people in our hostel and had a good couple of nights with them and we even met up with our lovely wee pal from Melbourne unexpectedley Deidre. She had stayed in St Arnauds with us for 2 months. From Noosa we took the bus to Australia Zoo. We had both been looking forward to this for a few weeks. When we arrived it was a lot smaller than we both thought however [View Full Entry]

Byron Bay was a little hippy town with lots of campervans, it was a great place to chill out and relax and start the East Coast experience. We went to the beach both days that we were there, the sand was so fine that it squeaked when you walked on it. In byron bay we stayed at the Arts Factory Lodge which stayed with the local theme and was very hippy like with lots of tepee's to stay in. This is where we saw the local lizard who was very cheeky and waited around to get food. We then headed up [View Full Entry]

We are back....... Well in the last 5 months we have both been working in an Irish pub called Bridie O'Reilys and Frankie also worked in a wee coffee shop. Melbourne was a great place to settle, with us spending Christmas and both of our birthdays here. We really felt at home and made some fantastic friends along the way. We have been to the Australian Open to watch the Tennis, went to Sorrento for both of our birthdays which was a coastal town about an hour and a half outside of Melbourne, went to the Ice Bar for Lynns Birthday [View Full Entry]

Neighbours, everybody needs good neighbours...........hehehe. We met some more irish girls in our hostel and decided to do the neighbours day tour with them and the quiz night a few nights later. We visited as you can see erinsbourgh high school and ramsay street. We could not believe that it is a real street which has real residents but instead is called Pin Oak Court. They have a security guard outside the houses because people were knocking on the doors at all hours of the morning asking for lou and harold...we both found that very funny! We started off on the [View Full Entry]

Campervan travels
the fun begins...
We met two lovely girls from our hostel, Louise from Ireland and "B" from england. They are nearly as daft as us hence why we get on so well!! They were heading off to Tasmania which is not somewhere we had planned to visit but it sounded too good to miss. We hired a campervan when we arrived and then headed off for 6 days travelling around this amazing island. The first day we went to Port Arthur which is steeped in history as it is a haunted old town where the convicts arrived many years ago. We booked a ghost [View Full Entry]
