My favorite name for God is Jehovah-Jireh, this is an Old Testament Hebrew name which means Provider. Though my nature is given to a great lack of faith, incessant complaining that God is not good enough, and a fear that I will not have enough of His provision to carry on, He always lays his goodness upon me, as a loving Hand. Despite my inablity at times to funtion, and my anxiety ridden and sinful heart, my Lord quiets me with His love and showes me His strength inspite of my weaknesses. This past month he has shown himself to [View Full Entry]

SAHARA-FEZ Africa » Morocco » Fčs-Boulemane » Fes
I am nearly at a loss for words as I attempt to write to you about my most recent experience in Morocco. In actuality, it was one of the best trips I have ever taken in my life, and one of the craziest. Our group sat on a bus for 60 hours within a span 6 days, camped in the middle of the Sahara desert, rode camels, and visited a traditional medina or market in Fez, the third largest city in Morocco. Despite my hesitance at my ability to communicate my sentiments to you, I shall begin back in Granada, [View Full Entry]

One of the prettiest cities in Andaluscia
Sometimes I have these moments in Spain where I can’t function anymore. I am too tired, too homesick, or too worn out with dealing with “foreign” things and always meeting new people. These sentiments characterized my last week. I was so tired I could not function the entire week, I kept trying to catch up on sleep but to no avail, I was emotionally and physically exhausted. Luckily, however, the weekend was one of the most refreshing weekends I have ever experienced. It began around 9m on Saturday morning when a big group of students from my programs left Granada for [View Full Entry]

From the "second" story
I just had the most pleasant experience in France. who would have guessed that after the supposed tense relations between their government and that of the US, I would have met some of the kindest people in Europe. Paris, I am so happy to report is a lovely city. Its various districts are filled with history, bakeries, flower shops, and beautiful buildings. After arriving at our comfortable hostel on Wednesday nights, my cousin and I were abel to track down a grocery store with camabert cheese and bread for dinner. the next morning we woke up early to visit Versailles. I [View Full Entry]

Jesus and Cultures Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Granada
So apparently politics is a hot button for the anonymous readers of “travelblog.org.” This being the case, I am obliged to avoid this sensitive subject for this week’s rendition of Megan’s life in Spain. I will bring you however, an exclusive look into some curiosities of Spanish culture. 1) Most of the Spanish population is well dressed. The older women are draped with long fur coats, almost all the women wear high heels of some sort, an all of the clothes are extremely well-made and expensive looking. One of the explanations for this particular measure of formali [View Full Entry]

Americanism Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Granada
I have never really understood politics well or been able to explain various democratic ideals, but since being in Spain I have never missed the American system more. My first frustrating encounter this week, with the Spanish way of life, was my attempt to purchase a notebook. Who knew such aganst could be created from the simple desire to purchase paper. Several problems arose as I ventured to buy my much needed school supplies. Firstly, store hours. I have previously disscused how Spainards see work as a means to obtain food...solely... the thought of working for more hours than nescess [View Full Entry]

Buda--Pest Europe » Hungary » Central Hungary » Budapest
The twin cities awaited me as I stepped off the airplane and into the arms of my friend Kata. For one week, I had the joy of experiencing familiar faces. After an entire month of meeting new people and living in a new place it was wonderful to receive encouragement from these precious girls. Aside from the fact that my week in Budapest was the most fun I have had so far here in Europe, the city itself is beautiful. The Danube River with giant bridges that cross it at different points separates Buda and Pest. Buda is rocky and mountainous, [View Full Entry]

Beauty Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Granada
I am a lover of beauty, beauty of all kinds. Today, beauty has presented itself to me in so many different forms. To truly appreciate beauty, one must be cognizance and ever watchful of current surroundings. The beauty of my day began with sunshine. Beautiful golden rays that came pouring in my window. I smiled because the days of sunshine have been very sparse so far. It was warm outside. Hot in the sun and cool in the shade. I ate some muesli and then donned my boots and jacket to meet my friend Kori for coffee. The more I [View Full Entry]

Barcelona Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona
I live for the stories...so after learning I could purchase a ticket to Barcelona for 10 Euros I couldnt wait to hop on my cheap ryanair flight. My friend Pari and I travelled together and after leaving our homes around 6am we were checked into our hostel and drinking cafe con leche by 12. Despite the fact it was raining for the entire 3 days we were there, Barcelona is the prettiest city I have ever visited in my life. The architecture is incredible and the city feels decedant. We finally found a good restuant around 3pm for lunch at Tapas [View Full Entry]

Snapshots... Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Granada
I find such joy in coming to Las Flores on my breaks. I wish I could spend all mornings drinking in the beauty of the day with café con leche and a tostada. This particular morning it is gray and raining outside. I lean against the bar, grateful to stand, grateful to be apart of the Spanish breakfast tradition. The floor below me is littered with napkins, cigarette butts and emptied sugar packets. As with everywhere in Spain, the smell of smoke permeates the air, as does the smell of espresso. I am actually beginning to enjoy the smell of cigarettes. [View Full Entry]
