Whilst at Maryborough we had a look at the old port area and the old buildings and museums. Maryborough is about 30 kms from the coast on the Mary River and was a major port in the 1800's. In the 1860 era there were only two ports which processed immigrants legally anyway being Sydney and Maryboro http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Australia/Australian-Capital-Territory/Canberra/blog-318555.html Whale Watching We wnjoyed a couple of wondeful days with Andy and Kathy. We spent a week at Sapphire looking for the elusive stones that we didn't find last time to no avail. John thinks that we need three strong sons to do the digging for us as it is hard work. We did meet some lovely people and sat around campfires singing and http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Australia/Australian-Capital-Territory/Canberra/blog-300734.html Home from the Dam Hi AllWe have just returned to River Heads after a week of fishing at Boondooma Dam. This will be our base for the next few months. We haven't really made any plans from here except for a couple of days of rest and recuperation which is sorely needed at the moment. We are both still recovering from that nasty flu. After a few delays we are finally ready to depart for the warmer regions of this country. We are leaving tomorrow morning at about 9.00 am and will just drive until we are ready to stop for the night. We have no set agenda so will probably take about three days to get to Hervey Bay. We have not really made any other plans as yet except to do some Barra f http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Australia/Australian-Capital-Territory/Canberra/blog-289591.html Home Safely Well after a couple of lovely days at Lake Macquarie we are safely home. Overall it has been a great trip and has given us a taste for more. The weather was disappointing as was the fishing but we did see a lot of places and have added a lot on our to do list. After sitting it out for a few wet days we gave up as the forecast was not good. We headed to Port Macquarie for the night and caught up with Bruce and Gwen Walker. The weather turned quite wild and the winds had caused some considerable damage on the way from Tweed to Port. We had to stop just south of Grafton as there wa http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Australia/Australian-Capital-Territory/Canberra/blog-194946.html Rain at Tweed Heads Hi allApparently I haven't made it clear that the Fraser Island Photos are under the Fraser Island journal entry and not the entry for Photos at Last.We have been sitting here watching and listening to the rain falling. It has rained quite heavily since yesterday so we will have to sit it out here for a while until the camper dries out.
