The time between NYE and the 11th was spent wandering the streets of Sydney, writing e-mails, thinking and trying to get my holiday pay from my former employers... There was a couple of days brief return to Katoomba which was relaxing. I had the house to myself for a few days, and spent the time watching the cricket on TV, reading, sunbathing, listening to music and generally not doing a great deal of sight-seeing. I knew I'e be back here when Corina arrived so I thought it would be better to see things with her...and I was right. This first week [View Full Entry]

After returning from the Blue Mountains, the plan was to chill-out for a couple of days before the madness of NYE in Sydney. The couple of days in the run up to NYE passed without registering any interest. A visit to the doctor had lead to yet another set of anti-biotics that wouldn't work, however I was given some Sudafed, a drug with ecstasy-like effects that certainly made my time in Sydney a more enjoyable, if somewhat light-headed experience. The plan for new year was: [View Full Entry]

The Blue Mountains was definitely a highlight from Australia for a number of reasons, not least because it was the first time I could actually do some exploring on my own... With the rest of the family having gone to stay with David in Lawson, I was able to take some time to stay at the rented house in Katoomba and see the local area in peace and at my own pace. The house was perfectly-placed just a short walk from Echo Point, the stunning, never gets tiring look-out point over the Blue Mountians, [View Full Entry]

After the rigid regime of the first week in Oz, the return from Fraser Island marked a change, as we could settle a bit into our Sydney house, and from the 19th of Dec, had very little to do until visiting David for Xmas. As it was my home for around a month, here's a few things about 10 Pretoria Street, Leichhardt, Sydney. Shep, Mogget, the Doves, [View Full Entry]

I've never wanted to go to Australia. True, but here I was. And Sydney was certainly one of the nicer places I could have had for my introduction to 'Oz'. We arrived on the 13th Dec, fresh from our jet-lag removal holiday in Singapore. My first impressions of Sydney were favourable, we were staying in a nice boutique hotel on Victoria St in the city, and spent the first evening having a wander down towards the city for a brief glimpse of the harbour at night and a drink. We didn't make it as far as the Opera house et al, [View Full Entry]

Naming an entry about my time in Singapore after a character from Viz is probably as silly as it seems, but at least there is a bit of a connection there, with Raffles, the almost legendary hotel in Singapore City, holding a big place in the history of this powerhouse city-state. When we arrived in Singapore, The heat wasn't as bad as we were expecting, but the dampness was. It was the end of the rainy season, and rain it did for large parts of our stay. The dampness did nothing for my cold, but I actually quite liked it. I [View Full Entry]

I left the UK on the 10th December 2007, a day that can be marked in may ways, not limited to...: 3 days after I finished work at EDS, 5 days after both my birthday and my arrival back from Berlin 12 days after what was to be my father's final birthday The very day the rural delivery catastrophe struck CourierPost (the result of which was the need for a temp to man the admin for it in Auckland...and there was my job) 2 months since I left my flat to move in with Mum, Sian & Co to save money [View Full Entry]
