Flat Seth

Hi my name is Flat Seth. I was created by a boy called Seth after he read a book called Flat Stanley. Because I am flat I can travel in the post and across the internet really easily. I started my journey at Stalbridge Primary School in Dorset, England. I enjoy meeting new friends and I would love to be taken travelling all around the World in the next year!

If you would like to take me on your travels or show me where you live then please send a message and I'll send an email of me to you with details of how to send pictures of my adventures back to Seth and his friends!

Hi kids, Frankie took me somewhere very exotic last month...an island called Bali. Bali is part of Indonesia which is a country made up of lots and lots of islands in South East Asia. Most of the people in Indonesia are Muslim, but on Bali they are mostly Hindu. This makes the culture of Bali unique within the country. Here are some of the things that Bali is famous for: Beaches – lots of people come to Bali to relax on the beach or for their honeymoon. There is also good surfing here and it is very close to Australia so lots of Aussie's come here on holiday. Dancing – there are lots of famous dances on Bali all relating to different ceremonies. Balinese people love to have a party and will find any excuse. Weddings, ... read more

Hello Class 5...or are you Class 6 now that you are back from your summer holidays? I hope that you have had fun the past six weeks away from school having lots of adventures? Have any of you been abroad anywhere special? I have been busy exploring some more of Australia and wanted to tell you all about it and show you some pictures of me discovering new and exciting places. Sorry I haven't written to you from Australia for a while, Frankie had to stop and work in a small town called Carnarvon for a few months. Carnarvon is half way up the west coast of Australia. It is the same size as Sturminster Newton and about as exciting! They do have a couple of important sites to see though. First I visited the One ... read more

I had one more stop in China and decided to take a short one hour flight to the western city of Chengdu. I could of also got the train but it was at least 12 hrs and cost only a little cheaper than a flight. But as my flight didn’t leave Xian until 11pm –and didnt arrive in Chengdu until 12.30pm- I didn’t get to bed until about 2am! I was very tired to say the least. Chengdu is in the Sichuan Province (Sish-wan) and is the capital of the entire area – where major decisions and plans are made. Sichuan food is a very popular chinese food and is very famous for being spicy and hot. ( Jeff loves spicy food but it makes me go to the toilet too much !! Hee Hee. Lucky ... read more

Well –my time in China was nearly coming to an end and I was sort of happy – as Jeff had been dragging me around sightseeing at a very fast and furious pace. My third day in Xian was spent back at The Big Wild Goose Pagoda as I wanted to see it again through the day and climb the big pagoda in order to get a good view over the city. Luckily it wasn’t too far away from where I was staying – but it was a bit scary catching a local bus that had no directions in English and hardly no-one spoke English. It was a good way for me to learn though. I made sure that before I left the hostel, I had the name and direction of where I wanted to go ... read more

I had the hassle taken out of arrivng in a new city as I was picked up by my hostel from Xian train station. The driver ended up buying me some local food for breakfast which was nice to try – better than the normal cereal and tea. I ended up spending my first day getting myself sorted and organising my next few days. On my first day I visited the Shaanxi History Museum (Shan – Shee) which is one of the first museums built in China. It was an excellent way to learn about the different ages and cultures that used to exist and still live in China. It is very popular to visit there and not mainly for tourists but for local chinese people as well. Even though it was free to get in ... read more

Well, my third day in Beijing was the one I truly looked forward to – it was the day that Jeff took me to climb The Great Wall of China. I chose a section of the wall named Mutianyu ( Moo-Ti-Anyu) as the other sections were either too far away or too busy by tourists. It took approx. 2.5 hrs to get there but excitement was running through my paper veins. When we arrived, tickets were bought and in order to start our walk of the great wall we had to get on a cable car first, which took us over the forest and to the start of the wall. When we had arrived on the wall we had the choice of going right which was renowned for being more steep, wild and less restored or ... read more

Hey Year 5 - I’ve been a busy boy and jet setting around the world lately. While living in Australia /OZ I decided to head back to the UK for a few months. On my way to the UK, my plane stopped off in Beijing ( the capital of China ) so I decided to visit for 10 days. It was also a good excuse to leave the cold rainy winter of Oz and get a bit of warmth in China-where it was springtime and not yet too hot. Anyways – the flight from Sydney was ok – except for the man sitting behind me who had really bad smelly feet and kept burping really loud!! The flight was about 9 hrs to Beijing – so I watched a few movies and ate some really bad ... read more

Luckily for me (and her), Frankie had a week off before she started her new job so she took me on a tour up the west coast of Australia from Perth to Coral Bay. The tour was on a bright yellow bus driven by a fun Aussie man called Greg, who became my new best friend because he liked to take me to lots of adventurous places for photographs! There were six passengers on the bus, plus me, and we had lots of fun seeing some of the sights of Western Australia. On the first day of the tour we visited the Pinnacles Desert. This is an area of sandy desert with big limestone rocks sticking up out of the sand. There are several stories about how the stones came to be there. Some people say ... read more

Hello Year 5! Wow what an adventure I have been on...I have just travelled across the whole of Australia by train. I have not only crossed a whole country, but also an entire continent! The train I caught is called the Indian-Pacific because it runs from Sydney on the Pacific Ocean in eastern Australia to Perth on the Indian Ocean in the west. The train journey took 3 days and 3 nights and covered 4352 kilometres, which is the same as travelling from England to Egypt or Iraq! Unfortunately the train was running late from the start so we didn't get to visit many places along the way as they had to make up time to stop us being late into Perth. I missed seeing the Blue Mountains again as it was dark by the time ... read more

My friend Frankie had a couple of days off work this week so she took me out to see some of the sights of Sydney. First we got a bus to Circular Quay, which is the place where all the trains and buses and ferries stop. The train station has a really good view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, much better than any views from most train stations I've been to. We then walked across the Harbour Bridge. It is very big and took us about half an hour to walk across (although it might have taken less time if Frankie hadn't stopped to take so many photos). From the bridge you get really good views of the harbour, the Opera House, the skyscrapers in the city and all the boats going past on ... read more
