We also enjoyed the hospitality of the Zetland Arms on our visit. Did you get upstairs to the Charlie Chaplin room? There is something special about being a Kiwi and I guess the locals in London have learnt to envy the loyalty. |
| 15th February 2007 Mum | Chur Chur Bro - From: Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit! Ben Fitchett chur chur bro - sounds like you couldn't manage to get your tongue around the cheers bro to me and the locals misheard you. Remember alcohol is a ......! Your Mum has this one worked out! Anyway great reading and we were there just last year so it is extra special to us to have you be there and experience these places. Good for you. I remember Blair. Wasn't it great you found him in Germany. I see you were out front with the haka - like father like son. There's a nightclub in Istanbul you must visit to match him on that one. Take care and keep an eye on Bevan too. Love from Mum and Dad. |
| 12th February 2007 Grandad | Most interesting Blog Ben - From: Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit! I loved the story as it unfolded ...beer, old friends [the "best"], and German culture. Am eagerly awaiting your next effort. Ashton Fitchett |
| 11th February 2007 David Tripe | Feldernhalle - From: Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit! The statue in the middle at the front of the Feldernhalle commemorates the death of Graf (Count) Tilly, who was the imperial (Austrian/Bavarian) general who lost a battle (and his life) against the Swedish army at the River Lech (near Augsburg) in 1631. Following their victory, the Swedish army sacked Munich (which explains the relative dearth of older buildings). |

| 27th November 2006 Jan Gundersen | - From: Paris est tourné du Noir et Beige Enjoyed reading about your trip to Paris - you are so clever with this technology stuff - are you sure you shouldn't be in IT!! The DVD you made, in conjunction with Kate, (but I suspect you did most of it as Kate was always at the office!) went down a treat at Sam's 21st - thanks again Ben. Look forward to reading about your next trip abroad. Have fun. |
| 22nd November 2006 Mum & Dad | What a voice! - From: Paris est tourné du Noir et Beige Ben, your singing talents have obviously gone unnoticed in Godzone. Good to see you made the most of your time in Paris. Enjoy the Welsh game - mum says to go easy on the amber liquid (yeah right)! |

| 5th September 2006 Ashtonb Fitchett | Most moving description I have come across - From: The Kiwis of Alamein Ben You have captured the mood of the memorial beautifully. How our men coped with the flies, heat, and the constant threat of attack,.... is beyond belief. Top marks for the whole presentation. Grandad |
| 5th September 2006 Dave | - From: The Kiwis of Alamein Great to read your adventures big bro. Now get yourself a job you bum and stop sullying the Fitchett name I have worked so hard to foster. |
| 4th September 2006 BEN | 5th Sept - From: The Kiwis of Alamein Thankyou Ben from Poppa and all the Thomas family for visiting El Alamein. I will show and read to Poppa your travelblog. | 1st September 2006 Ashton Fitchett | Did anyone offer money for you Ben? - From: How Bazaar We have really enjoyed all your episodes. You show a keen eye for detail, and obviously enjoyed it all. Your comments have brought it all back to us, after 30 odd years. Nothing seems to have changed, though you saw more than we were shown. In retrospect I cannot recall any shop keeper offering me money for Ruth.. probably I would have asked 5,000 camels Grandad |
| 31st August 2006 Kat | Have you ever been to India? - From: How Bazaar You reckon the Egyptian drivers are mad! Try travelling on the open road in India - take thousands of crazy drivers, add some huge Leyland trucks, a couple of overloaded buses, cows, goats, carts, pedestrians and several sleeping famillies. Talk about taking your life into your hands! Good luck for the job hunting. |
| 31st August 2006 Spam | Great stuff! - From: How Bazaar Well done Fitch! An awesome chronicle of your travels thus far. |
| 24th August 2006 Gillian | more info please! - From: So hot right now The Nle felucaa trip and dinner sounds amazing! we are planning a trip in November and i would love any specific additional info you could give about the boat and "company" or person you went with! thanks for sharing your experience Gillian of california |
| 24th August 2006 Bart | - From: So hot right now Hey bro, Fantastic efforts on the blog and looks like your having a magic time. I share your dissappointment with the Polish dick togs - outrageous. Nice to note that you haven't succumbed to any tourist accessories such as the bum bag (though the bandana is borderline!). Bart |
| 20th August 2006 Muzza | Great Stuff - From: So hot right now Good to read more info Ben. I've learnt more from you than I ever did at school about Egypt & Greece... keep it up! You'll be pleased to know that Hawkes Bay had another good weekend in the NPC they had a bye so avoided going down to any of the big guns... All is good here in CHCH, students on the undie 500 put in a good advertisment to the NZ Government endorsing the lifting of the drinking age back to 20. Caused a bit of a riot in Dunna's. Police had to get the battons out... not often they get to hit white kids with those things. Bit of a novelty. Brought back memories of cops, firetrucks and various other shennanigans from varsity days. |
| 20th August 2006 Louise | - From: So hot right now Don't want to hear complaints about the temp - I live in that all the time! Great to hear about Egypt as heading there with my parents later in the year (when it is cooler). Have fun! |
| 17th August 2006 Tasssya | Pyramids... - From: Walk like an Egyptian Wonder if you subscribe to the theory that aliens built them? Come to think of it...say hi to cutie Tim :-) |

| 16th August 2006 Dave | Royalty - From: Team Gecko On Tour Dig the Bandana bro. Very Ninja-turtleish of you. Cool to see all the places the Egyptians bury their royalty. Speaking of which the Maori Queen died yesterday - I think they'll open a new KFC in Mangarere in her honour... |
| 16th August 2006 Brooke | - From: Wild On Mykonos Ben your comments are awesome. Really helping me to stay awake while im doing the ops thing at 2.19am in Dunners.... looks like your having a great time though. |
| 15th August 2006 Mum & Dad | Egypt - From: Walk like an Egyptian Ben, Poppa is "on your shoulder" as you travel throughout your adventures in Egypt. P.S. Don't trust those Aussies too much! |
| 14th August 2006 Kathy | Fantastic Waffle - From: Walk like an Egyptian Ben - you should be writing travel guides - you must make the best-sellers list. Wonderful waffle - and I really enjoyed the notes on Crete as I had an uncle who fought there (no weapons). Keep the blogs coming. |
| 13th August 2006 Laura | - From: The Men of Malame Hey Ben. It was great to meet you and swap stories at Suda Bay. Thanks for such a nice account of my Grandad's story. Safe travels |
| 13th August 2006 Muzza | Hawkes Bay Grab A Win - From: Walk like an Egyptian Ben, cheers for another in depth up date... good to be enlightened on more about the globe. More importantly Hawkes Bay notched up a win... not just a wee win though. An almighty thrashing of the Counties Manakau's Steelers... 51-29. I might have to put a Hawkes Bay jersey on lay-by! Keep enjoying your travels bro and keep the updates coming. |
| 13th August 2006 Grandad Fitchett | Great Blogs to date - From: Walk like an Egyptian We have enjoyed all your Blogs so far, which show that you are interested in the relevant historical background. I did not know about the reduced gravitational force in the pyramids. Keep ëm copming Ben |
| 11th August 2006 Marion | Great explanation - From: The Men of Malame Ben I am sure your Pop would be really proud of you. I really enjoyed reading your explanation of the battle of Crete. The poem is very moving. |
| 10th August 2006 Murray [muzza121] | - From: The Men of Malame Hi Ben, Deeply appreciative of your efforts to express your thoughts and views as you move around and explore this part of the world. While I have never been to Crete, I have close friends who have family members who served in the conflict you so describe so brilliantly. |
| 10th August 2006 Craig Holden | respect - From: The Men of Malame Excellent account Ben, respect.... |
| 8th August 2006 Muzza | Brilliant - From: Ahh ... Santorini Another brilliant rendition of your day's activities Ben... interesting you say about videoing sunsets. Ever watched in reverse a sunrise at Sumner Beach? Ahhh ya see your very own picturesque sunset... very sharp. Good to see your enjoying things over there, it reminds me of so many memories, I must travel again. Unfortunately I don't think that will be hapening anytime soon. Anyways, keep up the good work, I enjoy reading (and learning) everything you've been writing. Cheers, Muzza. |
| 8th August 2006 Murray | - From: Ahh ... Santorini Hi Ben, Plenty of 'green' people back here at Post. Great read - keep it up. Pity about the Magpies [I did warn you !]. I see the Red Barron has scored another 'own goal'. Time he retired ! |
| 7th August 2006 Spam | - From: Ahh ... Santorini Hey Fitch, How do you find time to go sightseeing with all these mammoth blogs you've written?!!! Great photos, keep 'em coming! Cheers, Spam |
| 6th August 2006 Pat Dunn | Mykonos - From: Wild On Mykonos Ben Looks like you are having a great time - watch out for the "fag eddies!" Cheers, Pat |
| 4th August 2006 Muzza | Kiaora - From: Acropolis Now Top stuff Ben, good to see a traveler providing some pretty sharp holiday feedback... keep it up. Canterbury is not too bad, good weather of late. Have held off purchasing the HB Rugby jersey for the mo, may have to wait a year or two before some respectability is gained within the NPC comp. Just got a new job, becoming a rep for Pernod Ricard, basically selling Montana & other wine brands plus a heap of spirit brands. So it's all good to be back into the alcoholic beverages industry after a few changes over the past few months. Enjoy the travels. |
| 30th July 2006 Dave | - From: Acropolis Now Nice one bruv! Good to see you're flying the kiwi banner proudly. I would keep quiet about being from Hawkes Bay though. Those rascal Cantabs bet us 45-0 over the weekend. |
| 27th July 2006 Kat | - From: Into The Great Wide Open Are they matching T shirts? |
