Bogota, Colombia We woke early to try and book some flights to the North of Colombia. Unfortunately they proved to be too expensive on line, and also the Colombian airlines, Avianca and Aero Republica dont allow you to use your card unless its American or from South America, so we headed to the centre looking for the enarest Avianca office. But it was closed! Apparently it was a Lunes Festiva, which meant everything was shut. We couldnt even take the Funicula (like a carriage if a train) to the top of the mountains surrounding the city for the views, as it [View Full Entry]

Bogota, Colombia We decided to try and sort out a double room as we had the laptop on us now, and I didnt fancy leaving it in a room full of strangers. The guy at the desk, who had greeted us the night before managed to be of some help. He tried helping us sort our room out and also gave us some travel tips for when we got to the states. He told us how he had originally supposed to be in Bogota for a month but had some how got stuck working in the hostel, as the owner Álegria [View Full Entry]

Buenos Aires a Bogota After six months in Buenos Aires we were finally leaving! We had completed the TEFL course and had worked hard as English Teachers in order to save some money to continue our travels. Unfortunately the teaching wasnt quite what we expected and the schools paid us peanuts. So we were both delighted to be going travelling again! We were flying from Buenos Aires to Bogota via Lima in Peru. The 1st flight was relatively comfortable. No turbulence, decent film and a meal, and I must have been starving as I ate the horrible plane food courtesy of [View Full Entry]

17th January, Bariloche y Buenos Aires We woke up at half 5 and got dressed in the dark as i was trying to be considerate to the others in the room. (I really dont know why i bothered, as the others had got in about 4 in the morning, and woke us up by switching on the light and making a ridiculous amount of noise!) we got a bus to the airport.. i was really sad that morning.. we had enjoyed 6 weeks of travelling to get to our final destination, and now we were going and it was over. We [View Full Entry]

16th January, San Martin, Argentina Our last day in the Argentinian Lake District before our flight to Buenos Aires the next day. We had arranged to go to an adventure park for the day, then get a late bus. However the weather wasnt very good and alot of the adventure park was mostly based outside, so there wasnt any point paying nearly 100 pesos each if we couldnt do any of the outside activities. So we ended up on the streets! We wandered round, enjoying the lake. We managed to get an earlier bus, so at 3pm we jumped on what [View Full Entry]

15th January, San Martin de Los Andes, Argentina We had organised a boat trip for the day around the huge lake with stops at small beaches and a waterfall. The boat was lovely, it departed at midday with us sat on the upper deck. We had been told to wrap up and bring raincoats as it would be freezing, but it ended up being boiling, so we just ended up carrying extra weight. (Well jake did!) The trip was in spanish though so yet again we learnt nothing! The 1st stop was a beautiful little beach, as we were pulling up [View Full Entry]

14th January, Pucon y San Martin, Argentina We got a 6 hour bus to the lake district of Argentina.. We have to be in Buenos Aires for the spanish classes starting soon, so we thought we´d have a few days in the lake district 1st. While waiting for the coach, i needed the loo, so had to run back to the hostel (i coudnt use the one at the bus station as jake had spent the last of our money on bloody pastries!).. back at the hostel, the owner called over to me, i thought he was going to start questioning [View Full Entry]

13th January, Pucon, Villarica Volcano At 5am I heard the dreaded alarm, and thought i really dont want to climb any bloody volcano! But after a bowl of cheap Special K cereal, I was ordering Jake around to get a move on! We had to be at the tourist office at 6.30 am for our climb to the top of Pucons active volcano! There we were met by a a group of about 8-10 other people who were also doing the climb that day. We had to try on all our equipment, but i was disgusted to find that i had [View Full Entry]

12th January, Pucon, Chile We slept in till 11am, we must have still been feeling the effects of the night bus as we had gone to bed at 11pm! We headed into town to sort out a trip for the next day, a trip up an active volcano!! We went round a variety of agencies and eventually settled on one. We got some breakfast/lunch which we ate on a little wall on the main stret behind an artist who was setting up his stalll for the day - he must have been late getting up too! Following some boring tasks - [View Full Entry]

11th January, Pucon, Chile We arrived at exactly half 8 that morning, I was so tired as i hadnt managed to get much sleep on the bus, unlike Jake who concked out with the sleeping tablet! I looked like a troll on arrival! At the bus station we were told to walk a few blocks to get to our hostel. The guy at the hostel was really nice.. we were early checking in as it wasnt even 9 in the morning, and managed to walk in on a birthday celebration, as the guy and his 2 daughters were sat around eating [View Full Entry]
