It's been two years. I haven't done all that I wanted to, but wow, has it been an experience. I'll be heading back to Canada shortly to take up school to be able to come back to this wonderful country. There will be much more adventuring to take place, and I'll be sure to adjust my travel blog accordingly.

Hey folks. Sorry it's been so long since I've added another entry, but quite honestly, there hasn't been too much to report on this end. For the most part, Charlotte and I have settled down for a little bit and are simply working and saving up some money. The weather has also not been co-operating on the days we have off, so we haven't really been able to do much. All in all though, things are still going great. We had ourselves an 80's revival night a few weeks back to help celebrate Charlotte's b-day and say goodbye to a few friends that were moving out and onward from our hostle. I only have a few pictures from this. Check Charlotte's blog, as she undoubtedly will have some. It was a great night of flouro and ... read more

Last few in Sydney

http://s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff253/dj_fpb/Oct%205/ So we have just arrived in Brisbane yesterday. I know the blog says Sydney still, but this blog is really just an update on those days, with a teeny tiny bit about Brisbane (more on that to come). Last Wednesday, we went to the Sydney Aquarium. Simply amazing. The Adventure Pass that we bought was definitely worth the $64 was worth it (it gets you admission to Sydney Aquarium, Wilderness World, and Sydney Tower w/ Oz Trek). There we tons of displays of coral reefs, little clown fish, salt and fresh water crocodiles (referred to as salties and freshies), and some amazing underwater tunnels which contained sharks and sea turtles in one, seals in another and various other sea dwellers in another. There w... read more

http://s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff253/dj_fpb/Sept%2030/ Alright, I know, I'm a horrible person. I haven't updated in a whole 5 days. I'm just having so much fun, that by the time I have a minute to myself, I'm passed out. There is so much to see and do in this city, and some of that stuff is pretty expensive. Fortunately, Charlotte and I are patient enough to look around and find the cheap ways of surviving. Last night was our first ever experience with what the locals call 'Goon'. It's cheap boxed wine (5 liters went for $14.99), and honestly, it could be worse. It does taste like uncarbonated wine cooler, and as long as you can get it into your head that that is what you're drinking, it's really not too bad. It also packs quite the punch. The box ... read more

Well, day 2 has come and gone and we're still doing the touristy thing. Went through Hyde Park and had ourselves a picnic lunch, then checked out the ANZAC War Memorial to the fallen soldiers. Australians take great pride in their Men-at Arms and the sacrifices that they have made. It was interesting to see the exhibits containing items from as far back as World War I. The one piece that stands out most in my mind was the Nazi propaganda that was dropped into Aussie camps. I unfortunately couldn't take any pictures inside the exhibit area, but if you get a chance to and are in Sydney, I'd definitely recommend going and exploring some of Australia's history. After Hyde park, we made our way up and through the Royal Botanical Gardens. There were many different ... read more

Laides and gentlemen, the beaver has landed! Day 1 was yesterday, and I'm sorry to those who know me that I didn't update this yesterday, but jet lag is a pain. We got in off our 14 hour flight at about 6:30 in the morning here on Sunday, September 23, which to Charlotte and I was 2:30 in the afternoon Saturday. We did what we could to stay up really late, but we ended up passing out early and not getting to our blogs. Anyway, we got in and made our way through customs/quarantine. I must say, the Australian customs officials... WAY nicer than the US ones. We called our hostel right away and they came and picked us up, which is good, because god knows we wouldn't have made it on our own. We couldn't ... read more

Hey everyone. This is my first blog entry of many that will probably start in September. As some of you who know me, I'll be heading out to New Zealand/ Australia with my girlfriend, Charlotte in September. We'll be backpacking New Zealand for a month or more and then we'll be traveling all over Australia until we find a place we like most and will be settling down and working/living there for the remainder of the year. The trip itself will be in September and will be lasting for a year (longer if all goes well). I honestly can't wait to go. You'll probably see a few more blog entries before September just to update you on the preparation of the trip. Well, so far, everything is going according to plan. I've sent away for my ... read more
