Geneva The weather and temperature here is a God-send coming from Barcelona. The cool wind is so refreshing that alot of the time I just want to sit outside, do nothing, and just enjoy being outside for the sake of being outside. I was so crushed coming from Barcelona, though; the first day in Geneva was horrible. My body ached. My brain felt as if it were being crushed. My neck and shoulders, sore. I couldn't feel my legs anymore. Taking a cold shower just startles me from my machine-like pace now. Alcohol helps, but wears off too quickly. Time is running slower and slower. The Barcelona heat really got to my head. Geneva has this wonderful lake (appropriately named Lake Geneva) which has the cleanest water I habe ever seen in a city (except for ... read more

Arrived to Barcelona on the 11th. It took me two days to upload all the photos. I don't know if I'll write anything here, maybe this one can just be a journal entry of images. If I write anything, it'll be later. Peace. ... read more

While staying in the Netherlands and keeping up with what I consider greater than the Olympics -- the World Cup -- I decided it'd be fun to see if I can catch the next game in Germany. The next match was going to be held in Dortmund on the 4th of July; better yet the teams were Germany vs. Italy, so I knew the city was going to go nuts regardles of the outcome. The ride from Hoopsdorf, Netherlands to Dortmund was fantastic, and I was surprised to find out that there is literally no border patrol, passport checks, or any of that nonsense along the Netherlands-Germany border (similar to the Belgium-Netherlands border). The trip was very scenic until I hit Germany, and then I just focusd on appreciating the sheer speed... read more

Amsterdam I've come to dislike the more toursity bits of the cities i've visited even though I'm a tourist (correction: backpacker). Unfortunately, tourist attractions are all Amsterdam has to offer. That aside, Amsterdam is one hell of a city. I walked aimlessly around for hours gazing at all the shops that mkes up the maze of little side streets. Amsterdam is one of those cities who've managed to keep the feeling of archaic medievalness alive through its architecture and city layout. I had to walk quit esome distance outside the center of the city before seeing any modern buildings. The canals in the city are so cool (Venice of the North, they say); and there are so many canals and even more bridges its easy to lose yourself without even realizing it. Many people don't even ... read more

The graffiti seen along the sides of walls is endless when traveling by train in Belgium. I hope to God there's no project underway to get rid of all it; it colors the country too well to get rid of. Its great seeing purples, greens, pinks, and yellows in places where you'd least expect it. I saw very little graffiti in London and Paris and even less while traveling through the countryside. But Belgium has really sparked my interest in graffiti with its ridiculous prevalence throughout the country. It also helped that every bookstore I've walked into carries Banksy's Wall and Piece. I've gone through that book about 5 or 6 times without buying it - if I see it in a bookstore I just decide to spend as much time as I can lounging around ... read more

On the 16th I left London via bus. The ride was slightly worse than god-awful. The route was from London to Folkstone; from Folkstone board a train that goes under the English Channel to end up in the French town of Calais; from Calais it was another 3 hours on bus to Paris. The Bus Was fucking wonderful. The bus was a decrepit peice of ancient automation. It felt very retro; everything in the bus was some shade of brown, and the seats were made of this really worn in, cheap, carpet material that made the trip really uncomfortable. My seat didn't recline, so I was in an upright position for about 6 hours. The fabric on most of the seats were actually holey and torn and I could see the rusty interior of the seat ... read more
