Glance at the Kuwait press In Kuwait Times news paper's web edition there is an interesting article about arabic songs, their lyrics and according to the author, their schizophrenic relationship to the real life. For me it was surprising they talk very openly about Kuwait love life, man / woman relationships and culture around it. The author wonders why all the lyrics are telling about the misfortunate love of men, how women treat them cruelly and leave them [View Full Entry]

To do with goods

 Europe » Finland » Uusimaa » Tuusula
About furnitures and personal items on the move What to take, what to store? When relocating ourselves there is a need to also relocate our stuff which we have been collecting for some years. For this purpose it is good that there is a possibility for a help of a relocation company and this is what we are going to do. There was a visit from a relocation company and they made an estimation how much stuff in volume is going to Kuwait and how much goes to a storage for a few years. Some of our stuff is stored in [View Full Entry]

Is there any way around it?? Visas I was a bit naive thinking that traveling to Kuwait would not need much efford when going there as an expatriot. I thought this is such a routine a big company where I work just deals with the Kuwaiti authorities and I go there and I have my papers done. It's not quite like that. Well, I must say this is of course very much easier than just deciding to travel there and then starting to find a job and finding ways to have permissions to stay in the country. We have a co-operation [View Full Entry]

Checklist

 Europe » Finland » Uusimaa » Tuusula
Preparations Checklist It is not so easy to quit job in Finland and continue a lot different one in Kuwait, even it is for the same company and it helps with several practical issues. The project means a lot of things to be complished before we are even at the airport waiting for the flight towards Middle East. So far we have done or acquired these essential things: * EU driver's lisence to replace the old worn out one (needed for getting a kuwaiti driver's lisence * International driver's lisence from Aut [View Full Entry]

Tomi's career

 Europe » Finland » Uusimaa » Tuusula
Career So, let's not talk too much about Kuwait as a country before we are there in the middle of afternoon traffic jams. This relocation means a great change and a big step in my career. I was chosen to the job by the company where I currently work as a calibration engineer. My work in the calibration laboratory has been rather a narrow but demanding, specific field of my company operations. It has been done in the office environment where we have our PC's. It has also been work in a laboratory where all the measurements are done. Same instruments [View Full Entry]

From Finland to Kuwait. Why? When? WHAT?? Kuwait for dummies like us So, we are moving to Kuwait. What do we think we know about Kuwait? Here are our ignorant ideas about it. That country is a tiny stretch of dusty land sandwitched between the cradle of Islam - Saudi Arabia and the hot spot of world news - Iraq. Summer temperatures over there are between +50 °C and lethal. Landscape in Kuwait is pretty much plain sand desert scattered with oil drilling sites illuminating the dark Arabian nights with their burning flames. And there is the Persian Gulf with long [View Full Entry]
