Andorra, Spain, Italy,Greece
I'm sure Italy and Greece have changed since I was there. Actually, my son, Keith, was supposed to have been born in Rome but was born in Izmir, Turkey instead. I would have loved to have traveled more. I especially appreciate your blog. Have fun!

We appreciate your comments about Egypt. We are thinking of going, but also I would like to visit Machu. Prehaps this will make Byron consider Peru! Thanks. Nancy

Everette, You didn't mention in Dec. that you were going on this fabulous trip. Tom and I flew to Barcelona a year ago and cruised to Monaco. Rome was over whelming. Greece is next for us. Have fun.

Great stay, close calls?
I had a memorable stay in Odessa, with my apartment being misrepresented right off, two courtyards back from the street, I didn't feel safe, so moved to a very nice American-run place on Deribovsovskaya called Executive Suites. well worth the move--safe, secure, and with lots of great folks at the restaurant/lounge/courtyard down below to talk to, get to know, and write poetry for (blush!). Weather was great in june (maybe the best month--it was even getting hot when I left in late June). Would travel more around the city next time. I was trying to meet people and get my legs under me. I met an amazing gal who I got along with right away but she tried to set me up with a young girl, and then I'm not sure, but it is possible I was being set up to be rolled. Fortunately, the door of my apt. would unlock so I couldn't get out to do things that night. It is supposed to be safe, unless it isn't if you get my meaning. I loved the people. It was a cool place to visit, walk around, eat, see sights, and meet people in. >lots of international travelers--and the ladies! wow, breathtaking, a great respite from the late great overweight States! Fantastic food but I learned to buy mineral water, got sick from eating fish twice (enough), and got a healing in my leg that was certainly a highlight of the trip. One should know the rules for safe outings, travel together if possible, or be street smart, but it is probably safer than it felt, being there alone for the first time. Overall, a very good and memorable stay!

Response
We agree 100% with you about Poland. Walt commented that he could not understand why there are Polish jokes. After going there, we have gread admiration for the people. You will love Croatia. The Dalmation Coast is beautiful. We have been to Sicily four times. Be careful Sicily. Keep your doors locked if you rent a car. Always be on guard with your belongings.

WINTER IN WARSAW~
I CANT IMAGINE BEING WITH YOU ON THAT TRAIN AS WELL AS ON THAT TRIP IN THE WINTER! WHAT AN ADVENTURE YOU ARE HAVING. WE TOO LOVED OUR VISIT TO WARSAW. IT IS AMAZING HOW THEY HAVE REBUILT THE CITY AND WE FOUND IT TO BE LOVELY. WE AGREE ABOUT THE POLISH PEOPLE. WE FOUND THEM TO BE FRIEDLY AND SINCERE PEOPLE. I CANT UNDERSTAND AFTER SPENDING TIME THERE WITH THEM HOW THEY BECAME THE BUT OF SO MANY JOKES. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TO KIEV OR RUSSIA. IT IS NOT ON OUR BUCKET LIST AT THE PRESENT TIME. WE ARE PLANNING A TRIP TO CROTIA IN MAY AND LEAVE FOR SICILY THE 30TH OF THIS MONTH. IN OUR PREVIOUS TRIPS TO ITALY WE HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GO THERE. WE ARE TRAVELING WITH GRAND CIRCLE BUT PLANNING SEVERAL SIDE TRIPS INCLUDING TRAIN TRIP ONE DAY. I ENJOY YOUR LOG AND PICTURES...KEEP THEM COMING. THANKS FOR SHARING.

trip
Yvonne, We are currently in Vilnius. We will be traveling to Riga on Sunday. After Riga, we will come home. It feels like it is in the high 30s today. It is raining and that makes it feel colder. We are just now beginning to get the urge to go home. I am glad that we didn make the trip longer. I wouldn encourage anyone to come to Poland, Lithuania, or Latvia after Oct. 10th. I hope things are going well with AFM. E

money for Ukraine
Everrete, thank you very much for your help! It means a great deal to me and I appreciate. I will take your information under advisement. The young lady I am visiting in Poltava told me to be careful in Odessa as she calls it a "gangster city". I take your comments about the med student and the 2 young ladies seriously as well. Thank you again for your help. Be well and safe, Jeff

Wow!
Everette, your posts keep getting excited. I think that you and Walt should have a travel show on Discovery. Thanks for taking the time to share your trip with us. We are thinking of you all and wishing you the best!

WOW!
Can't believe you are really doing all that, Everette! How much of that snow and cold and unfriendliness can a person handle? I know the buildings are impressive and lovely but after a short time they would loose their charm for me. Are you ever coming home?

money for Ukraine
Jeff, it is hard to tell you exactly how much money you will need. We had paid for some of our accomodations in advance. I think between $1500 and 2000 will be enough.

Ukraine currency exchange
Thank you for your response Everette. This is actually the first time I have been on a blog. Your comments about currency and travelers checks Have me a bit concerned. How much cash should I take for a two week trip if they don't accept trevelers checks, visa, debit etc??? All my travel and lodging is paid for except for internal travel to Poltava. I plan to have very good meals in very good restaurants and buy gifts. Is $3,000.00 US reasonable, too much, too little???? This is my first trip abroad and I leave on Thursday. HELP....thanks, jeff
