Shalom Middle East » Israel
So we made our way into Israel (against the advice of the Australian Foreign affairs Dept but followed my mum;s advice “ if it's good enough for your family to live there you should also be safe enough there!!”thanks mum). Seriously we had an absolute ball in Israel spent heaps of time travelling the country to visit our respective families - poor Greg did have slightly raised BP when we travelled on the bus kept and eagle eye out for any stray baggage or dodgy looking people. We managed to cover some pretty good territory. Spent the first night in Jerusalem [View Full Entry]

When we last left you we were about to head out of Cairo on an overnight bus. We were expecting them to be like the ones in Turkey where people get on, put on eye masks and go straight to sleep. In fact once we were told off for talking to loud when people were trying to sleep... on a day bus. We knew this was going to be a different ride when everyone on the bus lit up as soon as the bus left the station. Then they turned on the television screen at an incredibility high volume. This wasn’t [View Full Entry]

Down the Nile Africa » Egypt
Egypt has proved to be a very vibrant and colourful place. A few interesting things about a place like Cairo are - traffic lights, they’re just Christmas decorations put up early, everyone ignores them - the mysterious hieroglyphic numbers that seem to be on all buses - locals will always give you directions, even if they don't have a clue where you want to go -the first carriage on the train is for woman only - stay out Greg -everyone will laugh at you if you get stuck in the train doors -there is a reason that woman stay in the [View Full Entry]

We have now been in London for about 6 months and have settled into a comfortable routine. It was difficult to find work for a while so I settled for a night time job as a paralegal. Even though I’m not really a night time person once I got into the swing of things my body clock adjusted and night became day, dinner became lunch etc. They have a dedicated paralegal department which works around the clock. All we work on is mergers worth billions of pounds. Sounds interesting. Well, most of the time its not. Some of the stuff they [View Full Entry]

Snow and Ships Europe » Sweden » Stockholm County » Stockholm
It was off to Stockholm to get our first taste of snow. We thought we might see a polar bear but they were sleeping. So instead we wondered around the city centre which is beautiful and clean. We considered going into a pub but realised we would need a second mortgage on our house to afford some alcohol so we thought better of it. We went to Vasa Museum which houses a warship built by the king of the day to crush its neighbours. 69 m high and 53 m high at its central mast, the Vasa could carry a crew [View Full Entry]

Hens and Castles Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland
We went back up to Scotland for a second time - this time by plane. Evana spent the night in Edinburgh with some friends celebrating a hens night and getting up to no good. I wondered the cold night before getting an ealy night. Then it was off to Aberdeen to catch music gods, Radiohead, in concert. Finally we plodded off to a castle just outside of Aberdeen. I can't tell you anything about it - that is Evana's department - but I think they filmed Hamlet there. [View Full Entry]

Next we went to the amazing city of Paris. We stayed in a 1 star hotel - true style - but they had the most delicious bagettes and hot chocolote every morning for breakfast. We managed to arrive in the middle of a massive heat wave but this didn’t stop us from enjoying all the traditional sites and activities. We climbed the eiffel tower, went to a few art galleries, did some shopping and had falaffel in the Jewish part of Paris. [View Full Entry]

We headed back to London on our trusty bus making a few stops along the way. We went to Newcastle as it is the gateway to the Farne Islands. The Farne Islands are famous as they house colonies of protected birds. The only way to visit them is by boat and you can only spend a couple hours there. The colonies were wonderful and we finally caught up with our Puffins. To Evana's amusement one of the birds let a load drop right on my head. Our next stop was the beautiful town of York which has a beautiful city centre [View Full Entry]

After much planning (more like last minute) we ended up heading North to take on the Wilds of Scotland. After searching all cheap flights and places to travel, unless your an EU member quick little jaunts to the continent aren’t as easy unless you get some visas. Still Greg will tell you I had this all planned in the beginning I’d already decided that while the weather was good we should see UK in her finest. Turns out that the sun followed us around up there also. After taking the budget option up there (9hrs on an overnight bus). We arrived [View Full Entry]

We had decided to have a small side trip to Greece seeing we were so close so we left Turkey and half our luggage in Selcuk. I’d like to point out that Greg is unable to carry his pack which has meant as Blanche Dubois said “I have always had to rely on the kindness of strangers”. The people have been very helpful with this. In Greece we had a small amount of time and even less cash so we decided to visit 3 islands Paros, Samos and Santorini. Please note there is a standard formula you will find on all [View Full Entry]
