Hanging Around Europe » United Kingdom
We have had a really good year in London. We survived our first full winter -just- there were a few snow-falls but nothing ever settled. Spring in London was beautiful and we made the most of it. We went to the Chelsea flower show in summer which was beautiful and enjoyed a traditional Pims in the park. Sure we were the only ones under 60 but we have a refined sense of entertainment. We checked our watches in Greenwhich, bopped to Groove Armada at their out-door festival and went to a couple concerts and clubs. Summer came and went very quickly [View Full Entry]

Southern Africa Africa » Botswana » North-West » Maun
We just returned from the dark continent. After spending a fabulously exciting time in southern africa , we thought we'd share with you our best highlights. Now considering our history of misadventures I was expecting to have Greg wisked away by a clan of baboons. As it seems our travel luck (or lack of)has changed. I guess g-d thought the joke was on us having to camp in the game parks in tents with no protection from the wild animals (well mozzie's. We had a great group in Botswana and then left to hunt the wilds of Kruger and Cape Town [View Full Entry]

Simcha in Israel Middle East » Israel
We seem to have a knack of getting to spend time in Israel. I think it's the most regularily visited place I've been to. That said it's been a long time since I've travelled to Israel with my mum (a good 25 years ago) how things have changed. Let's just say that travelling as an adult with your parent can take a little adjustment. We caught a flight from London (very very very early start) - for all flights to Is you have to check in a good 3 hours before (it was a 7am flight). Lets just say it is [View Full Entry]

Las Fallas Europe » Spain » Valencian Community » Valencia
We’ve just come back from the Las Fallas festival in Spain. On our first day we spent the afternoon walking around the city, taking in as many of the Fallas figures as possible. They range in size from a few feet high to the size of a city building and can cost up to a hundred thousand dollars. On Thursday we made the mistake of trying to walk through the main plaza at 2.00pm to try and get to the supermarket. Unfortunately it was pretty hard to wade through 10s of thousands of people who were waiting for the daytime firework [View Full Entry]

Carnival Europe » Italy » Veneto » Venice
We have just come back from a couple days of Carnival in Venice. It was great… the city sees all sorts of normally sensible folk as well wackos, weirdos and exhibitionists, dressing up in specially made costumes, strutting their stuff around Venice’s centre. There were parties every night in the main square so we didn’t get a lot of sleep. [View Full Entry]

We have been back in London for a couple of months now and we have settled back into the swings of things again. I have found a better and more interesting legal job with sensible hours. Evana has also moved and is enjoying a position with more management responsibilities. We have just enjoyed a beautiful autumn and are bracing ourselves for our first full winter. Nothing much to report, just filling in the gaps. [View Full Entry]

Moulet & Frites  Europe » Belgium
We’ve just come back from a week in Belgium and I’ve had to put myself on a diet because I consumed so much chocolate, chips, beer and mussels. I know, I know.. why would anyone want to go to Belgium. In response see above list. Also there are some nice buildings and shiny winter lights. On our second night in Belgium we decided we wanted mussels so we went to a restaurant recommended by our trusty guide book. Unfortunately it was closed so we went to another slightly more pricey restaurant also recommended in the book. We looked at the menu, [View Full Entry]

We spent a week in Orlando at Universal Studios and Disney Land which Evana has dreamed about since she was a kid and was forceably taken to Haiwaii instead of Disney We rode the rollercoasters, played a mock version of who wants to be a millionaire (I DO), petted the sting rays, screamed, peed our pants and laughed. We went upside down, sideways and occasionally insideout. We survived all you can eat chinese, all you can eat seafood buffet and Americans. On one rollecoaster they send two coasters out at the same time and they come so close to each other [View Full Entry]

Our first major city was Madrid. WE took in some of the local sights and fares along the way that is while we were shopping. With all our backpacking in Italy we hadn‘t come prepared to go out in Spain for the usual bar hopping and tapas trying that we had planned to do here. Turns out Spain is Greg’s almost ideal lifestyle, sleep in late go out around 10am then come back for a nap around 3 and go out again at 9pm. We have found that sitting outside on a hot night with a Vino Blanco is very enticing [View Full Entry]

So where to begin... We landed in Rome Airport after a very very early start leaving Israel having gotten up at 2:30am to be there at the airport for all the security check (as it turned out they didn’t even look through our luggage because we were on a charter flight. Arrive there and then make our way into the centre of Rome and were ready and waiting to take on some gypsies and stray children who may want to pull a number on us. As it turns out it was either to early for them or we just didn’t look [View Full Entry]
