| 20th June 2007 Janet Joslin (cousin) | Welcome home! - From: Out of Africa Nice to see you have got home safely from your safari. Lost your e-mail address, Chris, unless it's still the Trinity one? Mam has broken her foot and currently Shirley, Iris and I are taking it in turns to sleep overnight to help her in her ablutions - not much sleep received by us from the armchair (currently trying to catch up but not very successful). E-mailed Phillip but, as usual, no reply! Is Judith still off-line as I haven't yet received her new e-mail address as promised? I'll look forward to hearing from you when you have unpacked everything and settled back home. Love, Jan. xx |
| 25th May 2007 Jane and Dave | Great travelling - From: On the Pacific Highway Great to see such stunning photo's and read all your news. Keep up the info. flow. Come back soon as Sven Goran Erikson is threatening to come to Man City. I'd rather have Gilly! Au revoir! |
| 22nd May 2007 Rhian | Attention to detail Mr Evans! - From: Northern Thailand I suggested travel writing, not photography. The photos might be ok but after many years of balancing on rocks in Brittany or pretending to look excited about visiting churches in the Greek Islands, only my brother and me understand the pain of waiting for my Dad to take photographs. It takes literally hours. He'd never make any money. Pleased that you've both been to cookery school now, I look forward to my continuous supply of Tom Kha upon your return...not that I'm obsessed with it or anything...! |
| 16th May 2007 Mike and Jill | Nice One - From: Northern Thailand Rhean's wrong. Your next career should not be photographer but travel writing. (Not that the photos are poor: in fact, the opposite) You're providing loads of enjoyment back here. And perhaps none of us ever really expect you back. Let us know if you will end up diverting to Namibia. Will drink your health on Cup Final day. Loads o' love to you both. |
| 15th May 2007 Mike and Kelly | Yet again brilliant photos - From: Northern Thailand Looks great, love the elephant pictures wish we could be doing that. Love the shots of the Manchester rain. |
| 15th May 2007 Paul Cattroll | Thailand photos - From: Northern Thailand Terrific photos - looks like you're having a great time. Not sure about the whiskey though! Keep enjoying Paul |
| 14th May 2007 Val Price | Thailand - From: Northern Thailand These picutres and descriptions took me back to my younger years ie 1985 when I went to Thailand for the first time. I remember Doi Suthop and loved Chiang Mai. Bangkok, though crowded, was not so bad as it was 1997 (2nd visit) and it must be even wose now as you say it is. Actually, my brother is in Bangkok. He's been living and working there mostly since about '84/5. Cape Town next - lovely and other parts of SA. Kruger Park for example? love Val |
| 13th May 2007 Chris Petch | Hi Jim and Christine from the ivory tower - From: Northern Thailand Good to hear from you again - we're having some tropical rainstorms ourselves in Hulme but the view from my ivory tower is not quite as appealing as yours. PS put me down for some of that "special" whisky! Cheers Chris |
| 12th May 2007 Chick | Hope you're knees are ok - From: Tropical Travels Finally found you! Sounds like the fantastic trip you hoped it would be. We're certainly missing you and your striking capabilities, we've been winning ! I hope you appreciate how the Blues laid down for your lot to win the title ! Have fun, keep fit, see you soon |
| 7th May 2007 Mike Chapman | Do you really want to hear from us? - From: Tropical Travels I was thinking, I do sometimes, If I was traveling would I want to hear from everyone back home? I am not sure. It is good for me to see what you are doing I think I could cope with it. Jim I thought you would want to know I am thinking of buying a new bike. You cannot have too many, I have just been measured up for a Titanium one, Paul Hewitt is going to make it for me. Continue to enjoy yourself and do not hurry home. |
| 6th May 2007 Joy | Lovely to hear from you both - From: Tropical Travels Fantastic to see and hear all your adventures. Lots happening here, enjoy while you can but love to see you when you get back. Love to both of you. Joy |
| 3rd May 2007 Mike and Kelly | More great pictures - From: Tropical Travels Lovin the pictures there's going to be some great ones for the album. However, I'm quite worried about where my Father's shorts have disappeared to in picture 10 and his life model posing in number 13 is quite worrying too!!!! All giggles. |
| 2nd May 2007 Sue Salt | Flying Bugs - From: Tropical Travels What an exotic treat, best served with a canteen 'pasta king'. Don't forget you have to try all the local cuisine. Glad that you are both continuing to have a fantastic time. The serious R and R is obviously doing you good but I am sure you will be incredibly envious that I am wading my way through piles of HSC coursework ready to be sent off next week. Happy memories Jim! The job is going well, as usual lots to develop, but I would be bored if there wasn't. Not travelling as far is bliss and I had forgotten how much could be done in an evening. Missing everybody at Trinity however. Really enjoying reading your travel log, and I too think this is a new career for you both. Where next? Take care Sue |
| 2nd May 2007 anthony | - From: Tropical Travels your pictures look lovely - I really hope that you are both enjoying your break away from civilisation. Just a quick note as I try to keep my form from disturbing the entire school! ... Thinking of you both, lovely to see updates of your holiday. See you on the 23rd Jim - I will be willing you on hoping for an all english final this evening. xxx |
| 2nd May 2007 Paul Hazeldine | Hello sailors - From: Tropical Travels Yo Captain Jim, you look very much at home at the helm of the good ship Boomerang. Nice to see the trips going well and you met up with Johnathan Eagles. Regards Paul & Liza |
| 1st May 2007 Zoe Iyoha | Hi! - From: Tropical Travels Hi guys - read your Asia entry with great interest as my dad used to work for Singapore Airlines so our family holidays used to be Singapore/Penang (is the Rasa Sayang still there?)/ Langkawi/Cameron Highlands...dare I say it my first holiday romance was on the beach in Penang!!- very envious and mulling over retirement ideas already (difficult with an 8 mth old baby!) Love to you both Zoe x |
| 1st May 2007 Simon Lennox | Just great! - From: Tropical Travels Lovely to see you having a blast. Particularly liked Captain Gilligan. Where's the peaked cap? This trip of yours will be the only thing that keeps me working for the next 20 years. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Enjoy yourselves. Great to watch. Much better than Celebrity Love Island. |
| 1st May 2007 Mark Tracey OBE | Why? - From: Tropical Travels Would you want to come home... it looks lovely on the other side of the world. Quote: "This is serious R and R. Thanks for all your comments and messages. Keep them coming. It makes us feel closer to home. " Enjoy it while you can. Forget about the Champions League Jim, it'll end in tears for Utd with Rooney breaking a small, but significant bone in his foot, leg, arm or head. Mark |
| 1st May 2007 Dave | It continues to sound fabulous... - From: Tropical Travels It all sounds fabulous and clearly you are acruing many memories so that you can revisit all the best points when your prayers for wealth are fulfilled! Take care, God bless |
| 1st May 2007 anonymous | Memories - From: Tropical Travels Great to read and catch up on your latest instalment. When I was at college too many years ago now, there was a lady from Penang on the course and I remember about 6 of us borrowed her saris and we performed a dance at a college soiree! Perhaps you could look her up?! She said what a beautiful place it was. However the local Yorkshire folk said it couldn't be better than Yorkshire! It's amazing that you've been 4 months travelling. Glad you're enjoying a rest and luxury. Love Kate x |
| 1st May 2007 Rhian | WOW!!!!!!!!! - From: Tropical Travels The photos are amazing and you're becoming particularly adept at travel writing. Maybe you could give that a whirl as a new career given you're both unemployed! Don't forget to eat Tom Kha every day whilst you're in Thailand. It's £7.95 a bowl at Tampopo on Albert Square and not even close to being as good as the real thing!!! |
| 26th April 2007 Carole & Dave | Green with envy - From: Outback to Tropics Have just caught up with your great website, cannot believe its 3 months since you set off on your epic adventure. Everything sounds wonderful - what a trip! You both look really well on it, makes life here seem so dull. Can't wait to see your next instalment. |
| 26th April 2007 Sarah Clarke | Greetings from Dudley! - From: Outback to Tropics Hi Jim and Christine - Rhian told me all about your blog when we were catching up and I asked her to pass me the link. Looks like you're having a wonderful time.....miles away from teaching at least! The photos bring back loads of memories and I just want to get up and go myself again now. Enjoy the rest of your trip - best wishes, Sarah |
| 21st April 2007 Jess Mcoy | Manchester calling - From: Outback to Tropics Hi, you two intrepids. David Livingstone would have been proud of you. Chiristine, I never took you for a semi-submersible, and Jim- what a lovely swim in Cape Tribulation. Not an apt name for it by the look on your face.. Keep on entertaining us, and giving us dreams. God bless.xx |
| 19th April 2007 Kate | Marvellous! - From: Outback to Tropics I'm fascinated as to the nationality of those eaten by the crocs? Obviously more tasty than the Brits. It must have made you feel much better knowing that they'd turn their noses up at you! What a shame about the rain and cold you had. We're enjoying a beautiful, sunny Spring, great for golf and the garden. Hope you've been catching up on the football, 7-1, what a game , need I say more? Can't wait for the next instalment. Love to both of you. xx |
| 17th April 2007 Mike and Jill | Difficult to match - From: Outback to Tropics More great photos and what a script. Difficult to match unless you saw Jason's last game for Sharks with his scoring the winning try in the last seconds of the game.....or, MU's classic 7-1 drubbing of Roma. Both missed by you last week! You can't have everything. God bless |
| 17th April 2007 Val Price | Photos - From: Outback to Tropics Have read all you news so far and I'm definitely envious. You're doing the sort of trips I do and I want to do more. It looks really great, keep enjoying and sending us yr news, love Val |

| 25th March 2007 Simon Lennox | G'day you bludgers - From: Hello Australia Hi there you two. You continue to look like you are having a total mare and have obviously made the wrong decision. That forced grin on Jim's face is the give away. Come back home now and get a job. This is no way for a pair of adults to behave. What about graft? What about commitment? What about misery? Good old fashioned values. I'm very, very jealous. It looks so fantastic and you both look like you are having the time of your life. Keep going. You deserve it. On a personal issue, I went for an interview for Deputy Head at Audenshaw School and got the post!! I'll start there in September!! Don't know if you know, but Paul Gildea got an Assistant Head post at Tarporley High, starting in September too. All very exciting and very nerve recking too! Anyway, you enjoy yourselves and don't rush back to Blighty. Simon |

| 15th March 2007 Jayne Griffiths and Ben | Very Jealous! - From: Farewell to New Zealand Whilst I am thoroughly enjoying myself with Ben and having a break from work the sights of John Lewis and M&S do not quite compare to your photos and the scenery of New Zealand. Friends of mine have just left for 10 months travelling in Australia and New Zealand and they were especially looking forward to New Zealand. Looking at it and reading what you have been up to I dont think they will be disappointed! So glad to hear that you are having a great time. Hope it continues to keep you smiling. Take care Jayne x |

| 6th March 2007 CLARE FFRENCH | ENGLISH TRINITY - From: Farewell to New Zealand love looking at the pictures. What fantastic places. Makes life here seem somewhat dreary as i look at across the Hulme sky line and contemplate the delight of year 11 set 5 wrestling with the beauty of our English poetry. Ah well, there is always the lottery tomorrow and your pictures show a great world out there. God bless and keep enjoying it. Clare |

As much as we've been in Manchester of late you've not missed great football. But we've missed your pithy summaries!Education here continues to be rudderless. Said goodbye to Marion and Erica this week - sounds like an opening for you........But there again you'd be better off staying out there! Keep up the charm offensive. God bless. Mike and Jill |

| 13th February 2007 Janet again (cousin) | Welsh - From: South Sea Wonderful What do you mean, Chris inflicting the Welsh language on the South Seas people. I thought that was "Rhagorol/Da Iawn". England have just won the cricket one day series, life is full of surprises! I have a question. Why is Chris inflicting those nice people with the Welsh language? There is no need to do that to those fabulous people! She will give the British people a bad name. Enjoy yourself and take your time. |
