U2 I wondered if you guys were able to do any kind of U2 tour, now I have my question answered. So cool, the whole trip sounded like you got out of it everything you wanted and more.
I really have enjoyed your fabulous travelogue. Makes me want to go!
Being there certainly must make history, especially family history, come alive. Thanks for sharing.

Kevin chasing sheep? Maybe he identified with Specs, his family's sheep dog, more than I realized when he was growing up. Hope he had more luck herding them than Specs did!
Historical place, Historical times How exciting that you were in Dublin, site of so many places of historical significance, and managed to be there for both a World Band Meeting AND even more important --- the first day for the new power sharing government to meet. And a good place to reacquaint yourselves with the faster pace of urban life, in preparation for your trip back home to frenetic LA. Hope you do find some great Irish bargains while you are there to bring home as momentos. Knowing you both, you will squeeze another week's worth of sightseeing into the next few days. Have fun, and please DO blog and tell us all about it!
The Motherland Me dear Sainted son, I'm so glad you remember your proper Motherland...is the great Pacific Northwest. Living there engendered an enduring appreciation for lakes, mountains, seas, greenery, gardens, hiking trails, and of course.... rain! Ireland should make you feel right at home. ;-) And if the geographical similarities weren't enough to do the trick, surely finding a place called HOLLYWOOD would have done it for you. It's such a pleasure to read your blog, and be able to follow along on your remarkable journey. Erin and you seem to be having the trip of a lifetime. We're looking forward to hearing even more about it when you get home on .... MOTHER'S DAY! (perfect timing, for me at least). :-) Hope you find sunshine to light your way home.
Meow Hi guys--greetings from Minneapolis (which is a helluva lot less interesting than where you are!) David says the cats miss you guys, but they are doing wonderfully! I think David is actually becoming a cat person, which is a real testament to your little angels! We miss you guys--and can't wait for you to get back! Enjoy the rest of your trip!
Again, I love the pictures and especially the Irish names which seem so quaint, but that's a silly cultural judgement on my part. I have shamrocks growing here, too.
Love, Judy
Dingle Dingle Hi you guys! Love the pictures and commentary. Michael, Marg. and Matt loved Ireland and especially the Dingle area. Michael met them in Ireland for a vacation a while back and shared a week together. Someday I will get there as I would love to see my Irish roots. Our big news is that Matt and Marg. are moving to Seattle this summer. Matt is taking a CDC job based here for two years. Margaret is job searching now. We are pleased. Keep the travelogue going.
Love, Judy
Looks Like Fun! Funghi is quite the interesting name for a dolphin...was there any sort of mushroom-like growth on it that may have spurred the name? :)
Glad you guys are having such a good time--and a boat trip with a diiferent outcome than that of Kauai!
Greetings from the land of Aplets and Cotlets I've been following your TRAVELS from my travels. First in Vancouver and now in Wenatchee. It's not as good. Looks like it must be all you hoped for. Beautiful and interesting. Even sunny! We're having fun watching you. Thanks for including us. Looking forward to the rest of the pictures. May the wind be always at you back etc.
Count your blessings Be glad for "unseasonably warm." When we were there in the summer I seriously considered buying something *really* warm just to get by. Great photos!! Love and kisses, Mom
Guinness Yeah, yeah beautiful and what not but let's get to what really matters in Ireland......Guinness. I won't be satisfied until I see you having a pint at a local pub......oh and one for me please.
Roots Isn't it fun to see the place your ancestors came from. Let's see, peat bogs, fierce winds, cold and rain...now I know why they left! A nice place to visit, but...
GREEN as the Irish hills! I'm as green as the Irish hills, jealous that I'm not there sharing these sites along side of you. That you were able to connect with the Irish Lacey's, and visit your great, great grandfather's grave, must have been a profound experience. Made me misty eyed, thinking about it. I hope you gave Michael Lacey your email address, and can keep in touch with him. I am eagerly looking forward to the next batch of photos and text. Two weeks is way too short a time to visit, that much is obvious. Enjoy every minute of this fantastic trip and keep us all posted. We are hooked!
Spectacular! Just got the first photos you've posted from Ireland, and I'm blown away. It is everything I've always dreamed about (lusted for) in thinking about traveling to Ireland. You say it is so beautiful you may never come back to LA. Well, if you do stay, please find a place with a guest room. I'm coming to visit! Thanks for finding the time to keep us all informed. I eagerly await more updates. Love, Mom/Jeanne
sounds great best of luck with your trip. i'll be leaving with a buddy for ireland at the first of july and, not to make you nervous (and as long as you don't mind), i'll ride you tailcoats to learn more for my trip.
cheers, and happy travels!

FINALLY! I'm so happy for you guys--and admittedly, it's bizarre to be sitting here reading YOUR blog now. Let's hope this becomes a lifelong tradition. Looking forward to reading about your amazing adventures!
