So we finally got down to the beach for a weekend, and what a weekend it was! The weekend before last was the famous (amongst foreigners living in Korea, at least) Boryeong Mud festival. We had been assured that it would be the best weekend of the year, and that if we were to miss it we'd be stupid. So we made plans with Lisa, Ryan and Amy to head out and stay for the Weekend. Living here in South Korea, I've found, can feel very much like living back at home. The strangeness that I originally felt, and to tell the truth not that deeply, soon passed. You get used to being the only white guy around. The language barrier becomes the norm. Hand waving and pantomime becomes easy enough. Just wait until I get home and play late night charades again. So I promised I would update soon, and here I am. I think I last left off with bungee jumping. We have been a lot more low key than that this month, but I still figure someone reads this, so I might as well post. The weekend after the bungee jumping, we were invited by some friends of Lisa and Ryan's, coincidentally some are from Regina and Carlyle, to their going away party. So, Saturday was my birthday. Twenty nine. I guess I'm old. Ah, well, I try to take it in stride. I may be almost thirty, but I'm on the other side of the world, so I guess that's OK. We were invited to share a birthday picnic with some friends, but I had kind of set my sights on doing some site-seeing so we declined. On May 31st, Lisa had planned a birthday party for Ryan. I had been felling pretty terrible the day before, and was actually planning to get up and go to the hospital that morning. Instead, we decided to stay up until 3AM watching No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, so I slept past the International Clinics hours. It was okay though. I have discovered how hot it is here. I was told that summer will be hot, but I thought, "I am from the prairies. We have the most extreme weather, I can handle it". I was wrong. It is not even hot yet, and I find myself sweating to death on a regular basis. For Bikram Yoga, my natural ability to sweat like a pig is great. It is cleansing and freeing and amazing. I have promised a blog for awhile now, but as some of you know I have been quite sick. I have had a nasty, terrible sinus and chest thing that would not go away. That being said, the last thing I felt like doing was thinking and typing. I am feeling a lot better these days, so I will attempt to catch up on what we have been up to for the past month.
