Jeffry and I have decided that in order for us to get where we want to be and do the things we want to do, we need a change. Our change is coming in the form of moving to South Korea where I will teach English and Jeffry will be an amazing househusband. We are very much looking forward to seeing parts beyond, and to living a new life. We hope to use this blog to keep up with our family, friends and all other interested in our adventure. Please pass on the URL to family and friends, as we do not have everyone's emails.

Please check back often, as we plan to use this to document our adventure, and are hoping to update it weekly.

So, a few weeks ago Erin and I caught a plane and headed to Tokyo, Japan for the weekend. It might seem silly to spend only a couple of days in one of the culturally richest countries in the world, but when it comes down to it, we got to go to Japan! We wished we had more time, but what can you do? We did as much as we could. We flew out of Incheon International Airport Friday afternoon. It wasn't a bad flight at all, as far as flights go. I did get a reminder to make sure that whenever I travel I have to hide my tattoos. I got through security without any hassles, but right before I boarded the plane I got pulled out of line and had to take off my ... read more

I'm sorry that this blog has been so long coming, I guess I've just been lazy. It's hard for us to remember, sometimes, that this blog is you people at home's way of keeping up with our lives. We started this blog thinking of it as a "travel blog", but the longer we're here the less it feels like we are traveling and the more it feels like home. This is a good thing. We are comfortable here, and enjoy our lives, but it makes us crappy bloggers. So, this blog is a recap, mostly pictures, of what we've been up to the past couple of months. This will catch us all up, and then, we promise, we'll update a little more regularly. Oh, and this update is not necessarily in chronological order. It's just a ... read more

So after chilling at our place for a couple hours and relaxing, we decided it was time to eat. Rob wanted to take Kristen for Korean Barbecue one more time, so thought we would take to them to CowPig, our local restaurant. Now we know that this is not the real name of the place, but it is more fun for us to make names for the places we frequent. It makes them more like "ours" in our minds I suppose. Anyhow, we know where it is and that they have good food and treat us well so off we went. We walked Kristen and Rob by Central Park to see the coloured fountains, and secretly so I could see them. I love fountains. I was not so aware of this until we got here. But ... read more

I last left off with South American music in an Indian restaurant. The next day was even more eventful. My friend Rob from Weyburn and his little sister, Kristen, were in Seoul for her last weekend before she flew back to Saskatchewan. Anyhow, I had not seen Rob (or Kat) in ages and was looking forward to sightseeing with them. Rob called around 10 AM and asked what we wanted to do. Anyone who knows me well knows I am incapable of making decisions. It was actually not that difficult and we decided to hit up Namsol Hanok Village. We had seen it from N Seoul Tower and were wanting to know what it was. Rob and Kristen were staying close by so we called when we were on the train and met them in the ... read more

Hello there!! It has been forever since I updated this. Not so much because I am lazy or disinterested, but more because after a long day of work or sightseeing the last thing I feel like doing is writing about it! So here goes, I will try and update this thing as much as I can today..get as much of it out of the way, so we can start fresh again. I last left off at my birthday. I will not be as wordy as I usually am, but that is to save me from writing 1o long entries. You will get the gist of what we did from the pictures and captions, so please forgive. So we have this blog, and we get emails from people we do not know occasionally. I am okay with ... read more

So after Mudfest we were pretty broke and did not really do anything too exciting. We did however get directions from Yumi, the other Korean co-teacher at my school to go to a Lotus Theme Park. We had never seen lotus flowers, so we were pretty excited to go here. She got us directions for taking a cab and we headed out one Saturday afternoon. The drive was pretty nice, since we have never really been anywhere above ground. The subway can really skew your view of things. You never see where you are going, only the beginning and end points. A taxi is a nice treat once in awhile. It cost us about 16000 won to get to the park, so for two people to travel 30 minutes that seemed fair. Now when one thinks ... read more

So after a couple nights out with LeAnn, she asked if I would take her to Doctor Fish. We all know how much I loved it the first time around, so I was more than happy to do so. Jeffry, on the other hand, does not like it in any way so he opted out. The plan was to meet LeAnn for coffee and Doctor Fish then meet Jeffry near the house for a movie. I met up with LeAnn near the coloured rings to take her to Restree. This is an amazing coffee shop. You buy a drink that costs around 3-4000 won, then you get free use of the bread and toast and coffee bar. There are books to read and of course fish for your feet. Our waiter spoke some English, better than ... read more

I have noticed that I talk a lot about what we do here, but very little about my work. I guess that is because work is not a fun thing to talk about. I like my job, although being a teacher is pretty draining. For the summer I have lucked out and only have to teach until noon. They are holding summer camps at my school, which I am actually stuck teaching and planning all of since the other teacher here, Geoff, has decided to leave his contract early to attend school in the US. Planning these was the bane of my existence for ages. I put a lot of work into them, and essentially was terrified to go to school. Only me would be afraid of small children. I was afraid I would not be ... read more

So Friday the 15th was a national holiday here. We originally planned to go back to Daechon with Lisa, Ryan and Amy, but financially it did not make sense. We would have had to board the dogs for 150000 won and on top of that pay for hotels and meals, etc. They were not going minbak style like last time, so there was no way we could afford it. Instead we decided to sightsee in the city with LeAnn. She has been her for about a month, and when she is not working she visits with her mother and family, as well as some other friends she has here. We knew she had not done a lot of sightseeing here, and we all love to do those sort of things. We are of the perspective that ... read more

Hello again. I promised last time that I would not be so lazy with my posting, and I have failed. This time, however, laziness is not the issue. I have been incredibly busy. Between real life and school, I have not had a lot of time to post. I normally would write these in the afternoon at school when I have nothing to do. Lately, as many of you know already, I have been planning my summer camps like a crazy person. Anyhow, I thought I would write a few shorter blogs to update you on some of the fun (or not so fun) things we have done lately. On the weekend before Canada Day, there was a celebration in Seoul. Lisa, Ryan and Amy invited us to go with them, and after hemming and hawing ... read more
