Hello all, I'm devastatingly sorry it has been so long since I wrote, I have been nagged at by severa unfortunate souls who's lives depend on my news, but really you can all thank my friend Mike Arthur in England, who sent me a passive aggressive email asking what was wrong with my blog. Thanks mike, cute! Anyways, life is grand here on Raro. Work is going along well, I've been working on a mapping porject of services in the Pacific for people living with HIV/AIDS, and also doing random tasks getting the bosses ready for an upcoming pacific leaders forum. So things have been busy, which is good, and I'm learning a lot, both about the region and the way things work. Now to outside of work, which generally is a great deal more exciting! ... read more

Kia Orana all!!!! I know it's been over a week, but I wanted to have something interesting to write, and maybe even some pictures, which I do have!!!! So I'm fully settled into my own little cottage, well I share it with sally, but whatevs! It's a three bedroom house fully furnished with a big yard and a ton of fruit trees. Bananas papyas, mangos, and also a random fruit that we're don't know what it is. We hacked one open, and either it's not ripe or it's revolting and I never want to be around it again. Hopefully the former. We seem to also have become the proud owners of a dog. I named her Shiloh, Sally calls her Cindy Lou who. We're both unwilling to concede on the name front, so right now she ... read more

Hello all, I have now been in the Cook Islands for 8 days, and really, it's pretty great. I'm still not actually working on my own work, but I'm sure that will come, so work is a little deadly right now, ah well. I'm moving out of the office on Saturday to a house just behind the main town of Avarua. The house is a three bedroom that I'll be sharing with a couplke. They'll be upstairs though, and really the bottom is where I want to be anyways. The room has a window that when you lie in bed, you can look straight up through the window and you can see the cliffs and the mountains that are behind town. So I'm looking forward to not being at the office 24/7, but I will miss ... read more

Welcome oh glorious readers to the newest installment of my travel adventures according to me. I don't guarantee full, unemphasized truth or that I will be any bit less sarcastic than I am in real life, but really, that's why you all just keep on coming back isn't it! I know, it's all just too exciting.. right? well I know my mom's excited to read, and so is allan. ok, well I'm in the cook islands, after a long Oregon trail like voyage via the great airline industry. While going through security in Van airport a woman with the enthusiasm of a wet cat graciously found the pair of scissors that I had been looking for while I was packing hidden inside my backpack and then equally graciously disposed of them for me. The flight to ... read more

Here's an image, I'm sitting in a leather chair, with slippers, eight sweaters, 3 pairs of sweat pants and a touque on, listening to Tony parsons yapping about some fire somewhere. Any guesses on where I am? yes that is right you super sleuths you, I'm in freezing cold, lets try and hurry up global warming for crying out loud, Langley BC Canada. Lindsay and I headed to the airport in bangkok after a long day of shopping and getting facials and pedicures, to board our plane in the middle of the night. Unfortunately we didn't get bumped up beyond our economy class captivity, but the plane wasn't very full, lindsay got almost a whole row to herself. the flight to South Korea was fairly uneventful, and once we got there we found some lonely gate(not ... read more

Well here we are folks, it's the last blog that me as a 21 year old backpacker will write from this great region that the colonials branded Southeast Asia. the name Sure did stick. but yes it is the last day, I'm here in Bangkok, and yes I do realize that I am being fairly dramatic so far. I shall backup a touch. I wrote last from Cambodia, and I would like to agknowledge that Alexis is working very hard towards finally graduating from university while I myself am being a bum. so kudos to her. anyways enough of making her swoon. We caught the boat the day after we got back from the island, which turned into one of the most painless travelling experiences yet. Especially compared to the hell in a handbag time we ... read more

Hello there loyal readers and worryers, I just got back to civilization today, after spending nearly a week, one glorious week on the island of Koh Ru, here off the coast of cambodia. and well, yeah it was splendid. I'm going to give a run down of a day. So I wake up under my mosquito net to the sounds of light waves rocking up on the sandy beach. so I pull myself out of my sleeping revelrie to walk to the balcony to gaze on the shoreline, a beacon standing before me. and I says to myself, enough of this hackjob happiness, lets swim!!!!! So I walk across the silky sand, much like a cream carpet, and I launch into the ocean. after a short dip I voyage down to the restaurant and have some ... read more

Hey hey hey!!!!! I'm back in Cambodia!!! praise whoever you want to!!!!! Thailand officially is only a favorite country of people who are on heavy crack binges or enjoy having their money stolen. yeah lost more money, another $40 down the drain. my mom says I'm aiding the local economy but I call that bullcrap. I call it people stealing from me and thats about all. anyways, after that first day of scuba diving, I decided to do another one, since well, I kinda love it if you hadn't already guessed. The second day was again a goregous day in the similans, we went to the best reef dive in the islands, and it was pretty great. lots of different fish life, no turtles this time, but some new fish I'd never seen, a couple big ... read more

Hello land lubbers!!!!! Yeah I just got off a dive boat like 30 minutes ago, I have salt all over me, and I'm loving it. but I'll get to that. our last night in bangkok was a blast .we met up with lauren midday, woke her up from an air conned stupor, and chilled in her beautiful room for a while, a lot nicer than the cubicle that we resided in at the time. Then there was a huge storm and the streets were flooded and the water was knee deep and the only way to make it through was to not think of all the things that you could be stepping on and the disease that could be entering your body through your toe nails. it was quite the storm. so we went to burger ... read more

G'day mates, No not in australia, in bangkok!!!! which well, when you're staying near khao san road might as well be australia, as there are so many farang around. farang is thai for foreigners. anyways, after a few chilled days in chiang mai we hopped the night train to get here to the big city this morning at about 6am. the train itself was decent enough, i only had to kill one baby cochroach, but the thing was it was in front of two buddhist nuns, and I don't think they were very pleased about the destruction of life with the bottom of my waterbottle. the sleep on the train was also odd, as we were in a fan compartment not an air con and I was sweating purfusely most of the night. at one point ... read more
