I'm sat at a computor behind vast marble desk in the enterance of a hostel in Cairo, sweltering in the heat and silently cursing the fact that it is ramadam and so any water I drink has to be secretive and sureptious. I've got a day off, inbetween leaving Alice and Alicia arriving and so have grasped the opportunity to finally write. There is so much to tell and to write that, to be honest, it's difficult to know where to begin. I've only been travelling for about three and a half weeks, but in that time pretty much every preconception [View Full Entry]

I last left you somewhere in north queensland, just having got off a yatch going around the Whitsundays. I have had multiple complaints (mostly from parents) about my non writing. I apologies, but what I have been up to has been great fun at the time, but very tiresome to write about, so I'm going to give you the low down to quench any fanatic need you may have for news. I went sailing around the Whitsundays for three days on an ex American cup racer - an 83 foot boat which had been converted into a cruiser. It was fantastic [View Full Entry]

Buddist monks in the Angkor ruins

We left Cambodia through the land crossing into Vietnam, which was very uneventful and ventured into Vietnam. Alex and I only had 3 days in Saigon or Ho Chi Mihn City, depending on whether you come from the North or South, and so much to do. By then, our backpack wardrobes were in a state of disrepair. My trousers had my shirt sown into the crotch to cover a hole and I really didnt want to be seen in the tents which I had become used to wearing. So we left our group, promising to see them the next day and [View Full Entry]

I spent the last two weeks in Cambodia, my new favourite country and one I'm going to return to as soon as possible! I also spent the two weeks on my first and last tour I ever intend on taking... It all started one swealtering day back in Bangkok where Alex and I finally decided that we had to move out of our squalid hotel to the hotel where we were to meet our tour. After convincing Alex that it was necessary to go to the meeting and no, we couldnt carry on shopping we arrived at the hotel, the last [View Full Entry]

Right, so we flew to Bangkok from Singapore - I was so glad to get out of that sterile, constrained place, I felt I could hardly breath! And ... at the airport I had a steak. It was so so so good, I can hardly tell you. I really pity all those who have never tried a steak (I apologise if I offend!). It was amaxing. We were put on a bus to the main backpackers center, Khao San Road and guess who I met getting off ... EB! Well, we had arranged to meet, but it was a shock, especially [View Full Entry]

The end has come. I am leaving the land of the unexpected and wonderfully unexplainable India and going to a new and hopefully very clean Singapore. Had another wonderful last week here, so much happened and I'm going to try to write some of it down! I left you ill and sick in Jodhpur - I spent a good couple of days in bed and on our last day I rose to a whirlwind of touristy fury and visited both the wonderful fort where we were presented with an audio guide which featured a very toffy tof telling us about the [View Full Entry]

'Every cloud has a silver lining' - even if it is only a hopefuly good story to tell, but that will come later... So after we had pushed Geoff onto a train Alex and I spent the next day doing some properly girly things - going jewerly shopping (which is incredibly cheap for silver and semi-precious stones but pretty average for gold) and buying bags and clothes and getting seriously lost on the fort at the top of a really big hill (it took us a stressful hour to find the path to take us back down - people kept on [View Full Entry]

The North - dun dun dun Asia » India » Rajasthan » Jaipur
So, have now spent a week in The North, and although it is not the 'differant country' to the south which everyone told me about, it certainly is differant! And not just in the style in which the ladies wear their saris! Our immense train journey to Varansi was actually very fun - we were in a posh carraige which a man who declared us not much older than his two year old grandchild and pratically put us to bed. very endeering! Varanasi was just staggering. I cant really think of a better word! it was a time of great experiances, [View Full Entry]

An Adventure A Day..... Asia » India » Maharashtra
I'm in a little internet cafe with a big sign above my head saying 'Porn Sites Strickly Prohibited, Please Visit Again' passing the time in a town called Manmad before a 20 hour train ride to Varanassi. I say a ride because that is what trains are. Their not quite as life threatening and terrifying as a bus, but you are taken through of Indian life. It's like being in a market which you can't run away from. First the food and coffee comes through at 4 in the morning - the wares are yelled out at top volume to wake [View Full Entry]
