It is our last day in Cordoba and it is about time to leave Cordoba and our seedy hostel room... Hopefully, our next room is a bit nicer and the owner a bit more reserved. The people were nice, but a bit too much with all their questions and trying to organise 'day trips' with us. Anyway, we had a great time swimming in the river as we haven´t done this before. The water is deep enough to swimm and jump into the river and there is a lovely sandy beach. We were lazy and didn't bother to walk to get [View Full Entry]

On Tuesday we arrived in Cordoba and it is a small and nice city with a pleasant enough centre. Cordoba is a university city and there are a lot of bars all over Cordoba to sit outside and have a beer or two. Again, the ´Las Villas´are very present but in contrast to Buenos Aires they search the street equipped with a horse carriage. We didn´t really feel comfortable to take a picture while they are ´working´and hence you can only see the horse... In Cordoba city itself it is more than sufficinet to spend a couple of days, but it [View Full Entry]

Yesterday we took a bus to the seaside resort Pinamar, north of Mar de la Plata. We braved it and chose a location that did not feature in our guide as Argentines recommended it - this was not the best idea. We arrived in a luxury bus with loads of other Argentines and and it was really hard to find a place to stay. WE had to walk with the backpack for 2 hours and even the best fitted bag becomes heavy after a while. In the end we took a room for ARS 140 per night and we didn´t really [View Full Entry]

Buenos Aires is amazing and really, really big. It seems that we have seen 10 cities and not just one within the last 2 days. San Telmo is lovely and a very good base for exploring this city by foot (we have done kilometers already!!). What is visble in all areas are the so called ´Las Villas', families searching through the rubbish for the whole night. As soon as the bags are put on the streets, they arrive with their makeshift vehicles (sometimes even a truck), open the bags with their bare hands and look for glass, plastic, cartons and food. Our first day in Buenos Aires!!! It took nearly 40 hours to get here from Bari via London Stansted, London Heathrow and Madrid. 2 days prior our trip we were informed by our lovely travel agent Bart from sanotours in Vienna that our flight has been changed and we will arrive 4 hours later in Buenos Aires at around midnight. This wasn´t good news for us! Anyway, we arrived at around 2:00 am in the pre-bookes budget hotel to learn that they have given our room away -aargh!! However, we were moved to another place in a much better location. Now [View Full Entry]
