Matt´s First Fish. . . 8lb Rainbow
Near Villa de Angostura, Agentina
We have been in El Bolson for about a week and a half now and are loving it! The town is beautiful, surrounded by huge, glacier cap mountian, rivers and lakes. We really couldn´t ask for more! However, we did have a first big disappointment of the trip. . . the camera with all our pictures was lost/stolen. I don´t want to get into the long complicated story but it looks like it is gone. Luckily we have posted a lot of pictures of the trip online. . . now we are just hoping we can email some of the people [View Full Entry]

Last time we wrote we were still in Bolivia. . . . That feels like it was months ago! We survived the 17 hour train ride! We knew we were in for an adventure when we showed the man at the station our tickets and he smirked to his coworker as pointed to the last car on the train. Needless to say we were riding with the locals. That wasn´t bad except we stopped at every town along the way where people were shuffling on and off the train with their HUGE bags of things to sell in the next town. [View Full Entry]

We have received a few concerned messages. . . . yes we survived the LONG train ride and a couple long bus rides. We are currently camping in the Lake District in Argentina. It is beautiful here! No time to write now. . . . Matt believes there are fish to catch! We will catch up with you all later with pictures and all. PS. . . there haven¨t been anymore hospital trips. [View Full Entry]

Finally, I must break my silence. Elyse has had my fingers taped together and has not been allowing me to type on this blog,......... She says I exagerate, make stuff up and insists that no one will understand what I am jabbering about. I can assure you that her concerns are unfounded. As proof of my literary integridy and truthfullness I offer you the following statement: I have not caugh one fish since setting foot in South America. I did go fishing one time in Lake Titicaca, but I got skunked. I hope this statement satisfies any lasting concerns you may [View Full Entry]

Oh, and today is a special day because you will have 3 new blogs to read/glance over. Matt is writing his own take on the journey so far. I am as curious as you to see what he has to say about the adventure! Last time I wrote I believe we were off to see Lake Titicaca for the first time! The Peruian side [View Full Entry]

Day 1 of the Trek

Wow. . . . What a week (or so) we have had!!! Since arriving in Cusco a little over a week ago we have been runing non-stop! We arrived in Cusco on a 5:50 am flight. Needless to say Matt wasn´t very happy but it was cheap so I really didn´t care. As soon as we arrived we were swept away by a taxi driver who took us to a decent hotel that was in our price range. Right after we met with a travel agent who gave us an amazing deal (which we found out after the fact) on a [View Full Entry]

Gulf Coast in Florida
We’ve been in Florida for almost a week now. On Tuesday night we camped in the Panhandle close to the coast. We bought 2 lbs of shrimp and barbequed the dove for dinner. The next day we got up a drove a bit further down the coast. Along the way saw a bunch of seafood places where the fisherman would come sell their oysters and shrimp from the bay. Because it was Tuesday afternoon, we thought it was the perfect time to buy some oysters and beer and head to the beach. We stopped at one shop and Matt asked how [View Full Entry]

After leaving Texas we drove to New Orleans to spend a couple nights on Bourbon Street. Our original plan was to stay Sunday night but we made better time than we expected. After talking with the hotel and Travelocity (who lied to us) we decided to book a room for Saturday night as well. We were glad we did because there were a lot more people out on Saturday than were out on Sunday. Bourbon Street is what you would expect. A lot of people, a lot of bars, and a lot of food. We grabbed our frozen drinks and walked [View Full Entry]
