G-day mates, greetings from the sunny and hot city of Adelaide. When I arrived here and of February, Tim came and pick me up and we went to Victor Harbor, about 80 km south of Adelaide. He went there to visit two friends: Nicole and Candice. We had some beers and played some board games till late that night. The next day we went to see Victor Harbor and later in the afternoon we went back to Adelaide, where we had dinner that evening with Tim's mom and other family members. The dinner was organized for Tim because he was leaving Australia for a year. The next day we went out in Adelaide, where Tim met many of his friends who also came to say "goodbye" to him. At the moment Tim is somewhere in China. ... read more

Hi there, what's going on mates? ;) things are still going fine so far here in Australia. I booked two tours and left Darwin a few weeks ago and went into outback of Australia. It was nice, beautiful, and interesting....very long drives on the Stuart Highway without anything particiular to see outside (just bush, rocks, sand)....once a while you see an old telegraph station. The Stuart Highway runs all the way from Darwin to Port Augusta (north of Adelaide) and has more than 2800 km in length and is named after John Mc Douall Stuart, which was the first human being (known by written history) to cross Australia from south to north more than 140 years ago. Along the road there are several roadhouses, where you can but petrol and of course have a drink and ... read more

G-day there, it has been a while since I wrote something on the blog. Things are still going well here in Darwin. It has been very hot and humid these last days, but not a lot of rain though. The Wet Season looks a bit dry. I recorded a short video of a lightning strike, seen from behind the hostel. The YouTube link is: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VxDZcQfUWCE I stopped working at the hostel a few weeks ago, as it became too much for me to wake up early many mornings after finishing at Mc Donalds at 1:00 or 3:00. At Mc Donalds things are going ok, better than one week ago when I had some argues with one of the managers, because sometimes he doesn't know how to speak to people...but that's over now. I signed up with ... read more

Hello all, first of all a HAPPY NEW YEAR full of blessings, health and happiness to all of you and your families for 2008. I'll start with my birthday...on Dec. 22nd I turned 25. At the night of Dec. 21st I did a kind of small celebration near the pool with a few people from the hostel: Tobi and Scott (roommates at that time), another German guy, Victoria and an American girl. They sung Happy Birthday at 0:00 very loud out there and after that we had a couple of beers till late. Tobi is German and has been my roommate for a long amount of days already. He's a very cool roommate I should say....sometimes we cook together, or share the laundry etc., all of that saves money. We go out sometimes as well, together ... read more

G-day all, yeah, it has been a long time ago, but everything is still going fine Down Under. While trying to find a job in Sydney, I decided to also start looking for any job outside the city....any kind of job! I started looking for jobs in Perth, Melbourne, Darwin, Brisbane....everywhere. I was willing to relocate to any city around Australia if I found a job. So then I reacted on an advertisement where they were looking for people to work in a fast-food restaurant in Alice Springs, around Perth, Darwin and in the rural area of Queensland (Mc Donalds, KFC, Red Rooster or Hungry Jack's). I reacted and the same day they called me and I had to go to the office in Sydney where I filled all forms and I had to choose between ... read more

G-day everyone, greetings from Down Under!!! My first time to the Southern half of this planet! Australia is the oldest continent of the world and was colonized by the British back in 1788. That’s why they speak English and they drive on the left. The currency is the Australian Dollar. 1 EURO = AU$ 1,67 these days. Australia is considered in the top-3 best countries to live (after Norway and Iceland), in terms of general life conditions. The United Nations ranks countries with a mark between 0,1 and 1 for their life conditions (education, income, healthcare etc etc), it’s called the Human Development Index (HDI). With a mark of more than 0.96 Australia is on the third position. Just to compare: Holland ca. 0,94 / Venezuela ca. 0,78 / Suriname ca. 0,75 / Indonesia ca. 0,71 ... read more

Hello all, I'm back here in The Netherlands for one week....and it's very cold!!! I arrived Wednesday and worked on Thursday (half a day) and Friday the whole day. Also yesterday and today I worked, and tomorrow for the last time. Francesca, a 22 year old girl from Rome, came to visit me during the last weekend. She's originally from the small town Villa Rosa, which is in Abruzzo, Italy. She studied in Rome and is still living there. I know here since 2003 from a penfriends website. She also likes to travel, get to know cultures, languages and make friends abroad. She's a nice, sweet and goodlooking girl, dresses stylish and she speaks pretty well English (something that you can't say about Italians in general). She stayed at a hostel in Rotterdam, since I'm staying ... read more

Buenos dias, ¿cómo estais? ¡“Porqué no te callas”! (why don’t you shut up!!!) that’s what the King of Spain told the Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez Frias to do during a conference in Chile. This sentence became famous across whole Spain just in a few hours and now there are songs and ringtones about it!!! Girona & Sant Felui de Guixols I arrived at Girona airport, where I took the bus to Girona station. There Paul was waiting for me and we went home. I knew Paul because we studied together in Rotterdam, but he did Mathematics. He also went to Curacao, where we did our practice at the MIL (stage), which was almost 5 years ago now! Paul is living for more than 1 year in Spain and is doing professional cycling in a team from ... read more

Ciao tutti! Saluto della bella Italia. After arriving at Malpensa airport I took a bus to Milano Centrale and then the train to Torino Porta Nuova. There I met Stefano and Fabio. They live in Lanzo Torinese and Germagnano (two small villages outside Turin, near the mountains...not very far from France...with 5000 and 1500 inhabitants). The family of Stefano were very very friendly, also his sisters (Margherita and Federica)....I can't complain! None of them speak English, but Stefano's father knows a lot of English words and he can say a few sentences. The parents are both retired and the father also makes very nice paintings, and he gave me a small one as a present when I left. I also met almost all the friends of Stefano....he has a large group of friends who meet each ... read more

¿Cómo estais? Everything went fine here, except yesterday morning (headache). I arrived last Tuesday with Ryan Air, one of the European low cost airlines. I arrived at Madrid Barajas Int'l Airport. The airport is quite large, but not so nice from the outside. It was my first time with Ryan Air...I've never got so little legroom in an aircraft! Once inside the terminal I took the metro to the city center. Madrid has an excellent metrosystem, very very good and better that I expected. With the metro you could reach almost every part of the city, there are dozens of stations. I arrived at my hostel and it was in the afternoon. Then I decided to take a map and go for a walk in the area around the hostel, just to get to know the ... read more
