Elmari - Elmari Viviers

Elmari Viviers I love coffee, books, ladybirds, waterfalls, rainbows, thunderstorms, good stories, airports and fun people of every nationality
I don’t like saying goodbye, green beans, calamari (it still tastes like rubber to me after how many times that I’ve tried it), legalism, dog eared pages in books and not knowing the answer to something…
Above all I love Jesus and long to share His love with the world, especially those who have no way of hearing about Him. (Mt 28:18-20)

This morning when I saw a headline in the newspaper, it set me thinking. Lately, one of my most common phrases during the day was: “I am so busy!” I realize that this is a common phenomenon of modern man (and woman) and that I am joining most of the world when I say :I just can’t get to everything that I really want to do. But then I thought what would happen if the president (any president for that matter) declared that he wants me to spend a day with him. Without thinking twice I will cancel all my prior [View Full Entry]

Walking the otter trail…. I recently had the amazing privilege to walk the famous otter trail. I say privilege, because if you want to walk it you have to book almost 2 years in advance to get space on your preferred date. I was asked by a friend last minute (3 months before!) to fill a space… Part of the excitement is preparing and we talked a lot about what to pack, did some research on the internet, looked at photo’s, talked to people who have already walked and all the while got more and more excited. But honestly, you can’t [View Full Entry]

Holiday Africa » South Africa » Gauteng » Pretoria
I went on holiday to the Northern parts of South Africa. One of my school friends got married and it was great to see some Pretoria friends again, drive by the house where I grew up and visit the church where I spent my beginning years as a Christian. Then I went to Pietersburg (Polokwane) and had a "10 year Reunion" with some of my bestest friends... It all began April, 1998 when my friend and I went to a Winkelspruit camp. We met Werner and later got introduced to his friends and now 10 years later, they are all still a [View Full Entry]

Brr ! I think we are having an early onslaught of winter! Outside the wind is blowing and it's been raining on and off since this morning and I am inside cuddled with a blanket, coffee and my laptop... It's a pity the cookies are finished, they would have made a good addition to this situation ;-) ... Well, when I came back from Australia 4 months ago, I had very little idea of what was in store for me here. I knew I wanted to start dancing again (which I did....I now do ballet 3 times a week with my [View Full Entry]

Back in Perth I am back in wet, cold Perth after 3 months of outreach!!! God has been so good to us… Please read on to see some of the amazing things He has done.. The Present My school finished on Friday, so for the last few days, I have been spending time with some of the friends that I've made on this school, hanging out at the base, catching up on journalling and blogging (yeah!) and thoroughly enjoying some time off after a very busy schedule for 6 months!! Stories of Outreach Asia
Here follows different stories and testimonies that happened in my last 3 months of outreach... Visa on arrival When we left for our first destination on outreach, we didn’t have all the visas we needed (our contact on the other side was organising it) so we went anyway, and trusted that we could get them at the border. As we arrived, most of the team got them and were able to go through…all except me and another guy from Brazil. We were told that Brazilians and South Africans can’t get their visas at the airport and needed a sponsor to get [View Full Entry]

God is so faithful!! This morning as a team we still needed around $ 7 000 (I needed just over $2000) This morning Phil Hawkins had been speaking about knowing the faithfulness of God. Something that really caught me was that He said: Our God is truly Infinite AND Personal. He also said that what we believe about God will influence the way we live. For instance, if God is asking me to do something and I hesitate, deep within me it is probably because I don't really trust Him. Think about it: If you truly believed that God (while [View Full Entry]

I have some incredible news to share! In the last 3 months I had been preparing to go the School of Worship at YWAM, Perth Australia. A lot has happened and and after many struggles I've decided not to go to anymore. This was because I had trouble with my visa application and was also struggling to raise the necessary finances to go. At last I accepted that the situation looked hopeless and decided to let it go. Well, then 3 days ago, when I called the embassy to hear when I can get my passport back, they said my visa [View Full Entry]
