After the beautiful beaches and scorching sun of Fiji, the fresh air and cold of Auckland was surprisingly welcomed! Auckland reminded me alot of Dublin; the rain pouring down and lots of people rushing around and of course the vast amount pubs to choose from!. BULA! As they say in Fiji, not only does this mean hello but seems to encompass all that Fiji stands for; joy, excitement, surprise but most of all happiness something that Fijians seem to have in abundence. Los Angeles; The City of Angels! We arrived by bus to a very hot and smoggy downtown LA, now I've been to some dodgy places like Tallaght! (sorry Linda & Ann-Marie couldn't resist!) Well this stop is the one I have been looking forward to the most in the US its LAS VEGAS BABY!!!! From all the people I have spoken to Vegas is the one place everybody agreed was great! With all the good feedback I was hoping it lived up the expectation! I'm glad to say it did! The only thing I could have been warned about is the heat! We left San Francisco on the 8th of July and after 11 hours of traveling by night ( 2 buses and 1 train) we finally arrived in San Diego! I instantly liked this place, more spacious, a lot cleaner and no hills!!!! Arrived at the hostel around 6 in the morning, body clock was so messed up but we found a mall right beside the hostel so nothing a bit of shopping therapy didn't sort out! Next stop Mexico! Now the plan was to stay here for a few nights but on good advice from other travelers we decided to just make it a day trip! So glad we did, not a place I would be too interested in visiting, a couple of hours was more than enough! We went to Tijuana to the shopping district; Tack City! San Francisco what a city! We took a cable car down to Fisherman's Wharf to Pier 39 a hot spot for tourists. Great shops and restaurants too! Got a ferry around the bay and then to Alcatraz wouldn't have liked to be a prisoner there although what a great idea to have a prison surrounded by water, Might suggest that to the Irish government.
