Well I arrived in China safe and sound and spent my first day wandering around the back streets of Beijing and then visiting the Lama temple. There were lots of large buddahs and incense In the evening I met the group and we met our guide Ricky. On the next day we headed to the Great Wall and myself and a few others decided that taking the cable car up would be the lazy option so we walked up 60

South Africa

Today was only a short drive over the border into South Africa. I liked South Africa straight away as we didn39t have to fill out any immigration forms and it was sunny We got to our camp and then a few of us went kayaking down Orange River. Once Sarah and I were in the rhythm it was really great fun. The only downside were the annoying flies that kept biting us That evening the camp cooke

I arrived in Livinstone after an epic wait in customs to get my visa but I made it through customs and to the campsite where I was starting my journey. It was right on the Zambezee river and had a fab view. I had a beer in the bar and met some fellow travellers before being shown to our tent and meeting the rest of our group. The next day I explored Victoria Falls a short taxi ride away with Pe

We arrived to Nazca quite late and our hotel was literally in the middle of nowhere about ten minutes drive down a very bumpy road. We checked into our rooms and me and Vicky found a nice surprise in the shower A grasshopper thankfully not a cockroach But Bill came to the rescue and got rid of it for us Afterwards we had dinner of chicken and chips in the hotel and then I played a few roun

I flew down from Quito to Lima late Wednesday evening and after a little hiccup of going to the wrong hotel I checked in and met my new room mate Vicky. The next morning we got up and had breakfast with a couple of other guys from the group and changed money into sols which is the Peruvian currency. Then we caught a taxi to the old town. The ride took about thirty minutes from the hotel and the d

Galapagos

Well I am finally back from my trip to the Galapagos. Eight days on board the boat Galapagos Adventures 3. The flight from Quito was about two and half hours with a short stop for half an hour in Guayaquil. The airport was more of a shed but it was efficient and we had to get a bus a little ferry and then another bus to get to where our boat was moored in Puerto Ayora on the island of Santa Cruz.

Thursday We left early this morning to catch the bus to Prague.
MondayToday we met at half 8 to catch the train to Bratislava Slovakia. We caught the tram to the station and then got on the train. The journey took about an hour and was fairly scenic. When we got there George showed us where to go in the old town before he had to head back to Vienna. We headed up to the castle first. It was under rennovation but we walked around the outside and it gave us grea

SaturdayI arrived in Vienna about 4pm local time. The flight was fairly painless even though it was late leaving. I decided to chance my luck on the train as a taxi to the hotel was 40 Plus the travel notes assured me it was an easy thing to do So I bought a ticket and found the CAT which is the airport train that takes you to Vienna. That part was quite easy and then I had to catch the Uba

Today was Robbyn's and my last day in Havana before we met up with our tours. We were going to look in the museums but as the weather was so hot we decided to take a stroll down the Malecon We firstly stopped at Castillo de San Salvador which was empty apart from us but gave us good views of the bay. Then we thought we would walk down to the Hotel National. It seemed like a good idea at the time

Everyone seems really nice and friendly. We made our way out to our own little mini bus which was well cute and air conditioned Bonus We drove along the highway where we passed plenty of fields and lots of hitch hikers. Apparently public transport is virtually no

On our second day in Havana we got up to the sounds of the street a very loud cockerel and a guava lorry. The lorry driver gave me and Robbyn both some guavas but when I tasted it I realised why he was giving them away Ugh We caught a tour bus for a city tour of Havana which then crashed into a lamp post We then had to wait to catch another bus very eventful Then we took another bus which t

Today me and Robbyn arrived in Havana Cuba. The weather was hot and the street were lined with palm trees It was fabulous We took a cab from the airport after extremely lax security surprisingly to our apartment for the next few days. The cars were ancient and the streets narrow but and it was something of a culture shock. Still we settled in and then took a walk out into Central Havana to ex
