Hello! We're just back from a trip to Mount Emei. It was a nice relaxing couple of days. We befriended a guy on the bus there ( or he befriended us, wouldn't stop talking!) and he helped us get to Baoguo Temple where we wanted to stay- couldn't have done it without you Shun Chen! Staying in the temple was really cool. Accomodation was pretty basic but the place was just so relaxing and chilled out as you would expect. We lit some candles and insense and made a wish to buddha. (When we disovered about Micheal Jackson's death we also lit a insense stick and sang earth song- haha we got some strange looks but I thought it was a beautiful moment!) Spent most of our time here reading and eating vegetarian food in the ... read more

From Yangshou we got a short bus back to Guilin and from here flew to Chengdu; a little further North now. Again flight was great! We really love the hostel we are staying in here (Mix hostel). It has such a great atmosphere and is very easy to meet new people to talk to. Yesterday morning we went to see the Pandas! They are my new favourite animal- they were so cute and cuddly! I felt really lucky to get so close to them to as ther are less than 1500 left supposedly. Was a really fun morning. Once back at the hostel and after a bite to eat we went in search of one of the famous Sichuan teahouses. Found a great one in People's Park where we sat for a good while with our ... read more

Internet time been a bit sketchy so lots to catch up on! More photos to be added- computer very annoying! On the 18th we departed HK for China mainland- got a very swish double decker train to Guangzhou. Upon arrival we all had our temperature taken- they are beyond paranoid over here- in the city every other person has a facemask on it seems. We were then the perfect tourist targets for the taxis drivers who said it would cost us 200Y (20quid) to get to the airport- but crafty us managed to gt the underground and aiport shuttle for 20Y- score! ( Although we have spend that 18 pounds saving about 5 times now as a treat for our good planning) We then flew from Guangzhou to Guilin- flight was great and right on time- ... read more

Happy Birthday Iona!! Today was Iona's birthday so we set off early to the theme park on hong kong island- ocean park! It was fun but oh my god it was hot and sweaty too. The 17 June will hence forth be known as the hottest day in life- first annual annivesary. We went on some rides and saw the aquarium and pandas which was cool and then headed home mid afternoon to shelter from the heat. Was really sunny today for the first time too and managed to get one slightly burnt shoulder :( Once back on Kowloon we went in search of some markets. Had a lovely stroll along the flower market and the goldfish market which was really cool- gutted I can't buy any- don't think a glass aquarium would fit in my ... read more

Yesterday we went over to Hong Kong Island to see all the big business buildings. We also got the peak tram up to the top of the peak which sits above HK and saw some amazing views. Such an amazing skyline. After a lovely ride on the starferry back over to the island we had a break from the heat then went out to Times Square, Causeway bay for dinner. We sat at a cool corner restaurant over looking the square and had a good dinner.... read more

Hello again! Last night we ate at a great noodle place which very much resembled a nintendo game of old. Fun times. The food is sooo good here! We just want to eat everything and intend to :) Then today after booking a flight for the next part of our trip into China, we set on our way to DISNEYLAND! Major excitement- we were like too big kids. Disneyland Hong Kong is quite small so only took us a half day to see but it was really fun. We went on some rides (Space mountain waa the best) then saw the festival of the lion king, the afternoon parade and high school musical live. We also shoved the small children out of the way to get our picture taken with Minnie. We managed to do pretty ... read more

Hello from Hong Kong! Iona and I arrived safely in HK- woop! Flights with emirates were cool- I watched 3 disney films yay! Hong Kong is an amazing city- we were totally blown away when we first got here. Loads of people, busy streets and neon everywhere. Jet lag set in and we went to bed early and slept into lunch time. The hostel is fine, the room is really small but clean and fair enough for HK. It also has a lovely toilet/ shower (and no Iona you don't have to stand in the toilet...although that would be funny) Today we had our first exploring day- went out onto Nathan Road for a wander and got sushi for lunch- really nice. Then we got on the underground which was pretty cool and went to the ... read more
