This will be quick.... Went with another girl I met at the hostel to Monte Alban- ruins outside Oaxaca City. It was Tucson hot. Dry, in your face heat that zappppppsss all energy out of you.... But, it was beautiful. Im just glad I wasnt the guys who built it..... Also went and took some photos of Santo Domingo church to prove to you all how insanely ornate the inside of this church is.... Almost HAS to be seen to really believe, photos dont do it justice. But, alas, I tried! ... read more

Yesterday, I was sitting at a Cantina of sorts, eating lunch and about 300-400 yards out in the bay- a pod of WHALES! I saw about a dozen or more blowing air, and a few jumping and playing, and even a few tails... A guy who runs boat tours was just about wetting himself getting people into the boat to speed out there and desterb their breathing and playing.... beautiful to watch as I ate my lunch.... Beach time has been wonerful- Im sleeping in a hammock every night on this bug balcony filled with other hammocks... its wonderful how close to the ocean I sleep- the only down-side: I get woken up every morning at sunrise because the sun beams right into my face! By about 7:30am its up behind the roof, so no worries! ... read more

Everyone better get warm and comfy, because here comes a pretty long update- spanning the past month and more.... I (sadly) left San Marcos on the Lake Atitlan after a full month of getting my Lunar jive on. I finished my month long meditaion course with 5 days of silence and 5 days of fasting- all I can say is it was INTENSE! I bid everyone farewell (not before taking some more photos for you all to peep at) and spent the night in the most shiesty hotel EVER in Panajachel before leaving in the morning to cross the border into Mexico and then on to San Christobal de las Casas. It was 9 hours alltogether, but at the border me and 3 other girls all heading to San Christobal were met by another man who ... read more

So, its been a long time folks. Sorry for the delay, I have no excuse except Im in Central America.... Which means the following- Sometimes the power goes out, everyday. Sometimes I forget. Sometimes Im eating, or sleeping, or at the lake, or running around. Sometimes Im knee deep in a serious yoga-meditation retreat and its just not in the cards! But here I am, all bask in the glory of this summerized update. Before New Years, I got on a bus that drove stright through Honduras, into El Salvador where I stayed the night. Next morning, stright for Guatemala City. Where I spent all of 40 minutes in. Stright to Antigua. Where I spent one night, and went to El Hato- a small village about 40 minutes into the mountains from Antigua. Had a ... read more

The past two weeks have been a mix of blessings and burdens.... The Rancho, in Jiquillio was beautiful. I was able to paint a mural on one of the cabinas (see photos), and I had some great company from time to time. Christmas dinner almost killed me, I made a pie, and we left it in the oven to be safe from bugs- but there were 2 zillion ants on it when we opened the oven before dinner.... DAMN YOU ANTS! So me and Laura, blew them off, and stuck it back in the oven. So we ate apple pie, with a side of ants.... And there was some stupid high-school like drama that went on a few days before the holiday.... Im just glad to be rid of that negitive energy.... Anywho- Im trying to ... read more

Yesterday. One fast ass truck drive to Cerro Negro (Morgan, I think you have some driving competition....) One black sand volcano. One wooden board with one handle in front, one in back. One orange jump suit (think chain-gang!). And one lost mind. A group of 9, we all climbed Cerro Negro, a black sand volcano that sits in the fault line with several others (its all in the same line as Telica, the Volcano I hiked on the full moon). The hike took 45 mins to the top. The ride down- less the a minute. We all suited up, and two at a time, we slid on these boards, down the side of this Volcano- some of us HAULING ASS! I hit a huge dip and the way down and had to break and bits of ... read more

Last night, a celebration for the Conception of Maria. A group of us meandered down to the Central Park as we heard about 2 zillion fire works go off at 6 last night. We got to the square, and it seems ALL of Leon and MORE showed up for the dancing and the singing and the insanity! Part of the festivities include a huge tall woman who represents the beautiful yet stupid Spainard, and a short clever man who dance. Small boys, probally the age of 8 to 10 dress up in these costumes and dance around all week long, and last night they all gathered together and danced to show off their costumes. After dancing and an insane amount of dangerous fire-works, fire dancers came outa nowhere and gave us a GREAT SHOW! After the ... read more

Wooooo-weeeee! Its been an exhausting few days of adventuring.... Before I went on an insane hike, I went and did a little photo tour of the city (so, see pictures). On Tuesday night I went on a full moon hike with a non-profit group. We hiked in the mostly dark for over five hours to the mouth of a still active and bubbling volcano! It was one of the most insane hikes Ive ever done. All of us tripped, stumbled, and slid around in the dark to get there, but the views of the lava as well as the rising sun was worth it.... well, worth it until I realized we still had to hike down.... We desended into the valley between the active volcan and a dormant one into some grassy areas and took a ... read more

First, check out entry from Granada, I added some photos of the church that I walked past everyday to get to Spanish School. Second, thank god for getting out of Granada! On Friday, I headed out in the back of a truck (the ¨shuttle¨ if you will...) to Lagua de Apoyo. What heaven on earth.... The water was beautiful, a clear teal. The sky, slighty overcast and cloudy, the wind blowing.... Each and everyday I spent most of my days either in the water, or in a hammock. A nice vacation from the real vacation! On Saturday night, the clouds finally parted to reveal an almost full moon! Since the electricity has been sporatic, we could actually see at night! We all took this opportunity to do some naked swimming out in the lake, to the ... read more

Buenas world! I´ve been in different states of being horizonatal (and get your minds out of the gutter, not in that way) for a week or so, and I havnt been up to writing about the lack of things that I actually do. But, heres a run down of the recent: - my feet finally scabbed! I can walk around town without getting more blisters and making my feet bleed! Gracias a Dios! On the eastern shoe front, I finally went to Masaya yesterday and purchased a pair of lether sandals to schlep around town in. - Masaya was another experience altogether. It seems its part of Latin culture to answer a question no matter if one really knows the answer. I went with a Swedish girl Camilla, and the micro-bus didnt drop us off at ... read more
